What software are you using to make your touchups live? How do you switch it from 30 to 60 frames per second? Also, how did you connect the Sony to your computer?

Purchased this a few weeks ago, and it's already found a home in my tech junk drawer. Using any webcam and Xsplit (mac and PC), one can achieve the ai blur effect. However, the colors were harsh, lighting always felt overexposed. They have now removed support for the color calibration card, which the CEO admitted never worked. --For in office meetings I decided to go with the. Ankerwork B600 Video Bar. - I'm using the SONY ZV10 mounted on the Elgato LP Mic Arm.

thats insane to me because I feel like I could program the colour calibration card. Just have it at a zero state then move each setting and see which direction gets closer to the expected value. Do this until changing any setting gets you a worse image and you have it dialed in. Thats how I do colour calibration anyway idk why that would be so hard to do

That elgato facecam looks pretty good. If you reduce the amount of green, I believe the colors will look better than both the Lumina and the Hero 3.

@@DR19X It depends on your lighting. Bad LED lights or TL-light will give either a green or purple tint. (Check CRI rating, 90 CRI or higher is more accurate.) For all its faults, the pro of the Lumina 4k is that you are able to fix that in software compared to the other webcams. it does have a green-purple tint slighter like the orange-blue white balance slider with other webcams.

I personally use the Elgato Facecam and simply love it. I use it on my personal Mac and work Laptop, with the Elgato suit installed and I cannot get over how much flipping control it gives you. Not to mention the video quality is great anyway. I've tried so many webcams over the years and nothing else can compare at all. Mostly because of the absolute control over EVERYTHING. Exposure, shutter speed, ISO and more. That lets you capture, as this shows, completely natural, perfect skin tones and more.

I use my cam pretty much exclusively for WFH zoom calls. I did buy a Canon M200 at your recommendation with a 22mm fixed autofocus lens and a relatively inexpensive amazon USB 3.1 type C external capture card. Works great for what I use it for. I do wish I could have seen it as a comparison in the video though as I'd really love to see if I overpaid compared to the three non Lumina cameras. They all looked pretty decent to me.

I was excited to get the Lumina, but now disappointed by its functionality. I cannot find an adjustment to make me and my surroundings look natural - it's all so bright. I hope they come out with firmware upgrades. Great review!

I don’t know enough to know which camera is which, but I know the bottom right looks the best. Then the top right looks the other best but way too distorted angle. The bottom left looks like a low end camera and the top left looks like a good camera that you have added a color grading effect to. I really like how you did this! The pallet cleanser is such a great idea. And then having us look at the cameras without the names.

I think you might want to try another test review with this one as it had tons of updates and kinds performs way better now. Oh, and they made that calibration card working finally. I personally was able to find it usable for a motion tracking , which is not working as well with the rest of them .

I have been purchasing webcams upgrading through webcams since 2007 and my favorite with all its features and quality and look is the Logitech Brio I would recommend that if you have to go with a webcam all day.

Still so happy with my GoPro and USB capture card combo. I still use the dirt cheap USB capture card from Amazon and the quality is great (granted, use I RGB lights behind me and single Elgato Key Light Air to properly light my face, which helps a LOT) but the combo is just brilliant. Would have loved the Lumina to be better quality - it looks so slick. But I shan't be ditching my GoPro anytime soon! EDIT: Oh, also, I only one I guessed correctly out of the 4 cameras was the GoPro ^.^" don't really have an eye for it, sadly. Wish I did!

I tried using a gopro plugged in to a cam link before and the setup process was a pain and getting it to work consistently was more headache than it was worth. I use a Logitech Brio and am very satisfied with its performance

The face tracking in the lumina is available in multiple places now as either an obs plugin, nvidia broadcast (if you have an rtx card) even in snap cam software. So not really something to buy the camera for that. So for me the elgato face cam is the one for me if I was to choose bang for buck.

@4:55 My impression, from best to worst: 4 is by far the best (pretty sure this is the Sony), 1 good (Lumina?), 2 is OK (based on the wide field of view I'm guessing GoPro), then 3 looks like a webcam (presumably the Elgato). So I reversed the Lumina and Elgato. I was wrong to assume it would be better than the Elgato.

I'm still rocking the same Logitech C920 that I've had for 10 years(?) and I've yet to find anything that is worth the money to upgrade for general streaming or video call needs. Sure if I NEED 60 fps, there's options, if I NEED 4k, there's options, but out of everything, the only thing I could see myself ever upgrading to is the brio.

Harris, Have you ever tried to obsbot 4k60p. It is a webcam with some really neat features. I used the 1080 version of it for a while until I upgraded to a mirrorless. It has great AI tracking like the lumina (but better) as well as gesture recognition. The video quality is decent, though, still webcam

The Lumina is actually my favorite, and I did come here because I was already thinking of buying it, but I chose that favorite before the reveal of which camera was which. I want to say, for a lot of females, we WANT that softened look. It's in most of the filters we use on social media. It allows you to look more "camera-ready" with minimal makeup. Just my 2 cents! I'm not an official camera expert or anything, just a chick who wants to add a webcam view to my Twitch stream and doesn't want to put on full makeup every day.

If you have worked with dslrs action cameras and webcam separately and learned how the lenses and sensors work it's pretty easy to tell which.

For me personally i also bought the Sony ZV-E10 and stream with it and dont regret it. I LOVE it! But i wont recommend it to everyone. Its a bigger invest and if you just plan to stream with it - skip it. Too expensive especially for small streamers. But in my case i use it as my vlog cam, behind the scenes cam, second camera angle, travel cam AND streaming cam. So if you have multiple use cases i highly recommend buying a mirrorless camera. The quality will show up u wont regret it. Especially if you add a nice lens to it. Nice video. Thanks!

I’ve had the Lumina since it was released. I’m only using it for Zoom calls and Loom vids, but I prefer it to my Mevo and other options I’ve tried. As a former photographer, Lumina offers a ton of control over the image, allowing you to control subject blur and background blur separately. Out of the box, the exposure is set too high for my light setup, but is easily adjusted with full manual control. I have spoken with their lead dev, and they have some great ideas for future enhancements and new features to the software.

The Lumina doesnt seem to add enough to warrant the cost for me. Facecam coupled with Nvidia broadcast (blur and face following) would provide the same kinda output but with better definition and it'll cost less. not enough of a use case to worry about lack of 4k.

The main feature I never thought I needed is the onboard flash memory that the facecam has... I cant install a cam software on my corporate laptop and the facecam is godsend.

For content creation and not just streaming nothing beats the real camera for a professional look and if you really want that soft skin which is a common thing to add in photography you can run a separate program that is free for that filter and many others. If you are editing it in post you can also get the soft skin effect with minimal effort in davinci resolve. For a plug and play option I would go for the stream cam still with a white balance color correction which I believe you can easily do in their software.and again effects that you would like to have with 3rd party software.

The 30fps is definitely steppin' on it's toes, but I think the Lumina looks pretty dope. It's not a production cam or even a prosumer cam, so it doesn't need to be extremely detailed & shot w/a flat profile. In fact, the smooth, less-detailed look works for folks sittin' at their pc, maybe not looking their absolute best. The dynamic range looks decent even though it's blowing out the brightest highlights, but that's a quick adjustment in the settings I'm sure. It gives everything a nice clean gloss & I bet it makes lighting your space much simpler. Would I go shoot a short or wedding with that look? Hell to the nah...gimme 10 bit or even 8 bit log. But it's pretty damn coo for a webcam & I'd check it out...at a much lower price.

Well I’m glad I got a elgato facecam. I even tried the GoPro hero3. And my main camera is the canon m200. But I just got a iPhone 13 pro max. And you can enable prores. So I’ve been recording with that and it’s amazing. So Harris could you do a best setup video for iPhone?

A little off topic, but would you recommend the PreSonus io24? I use a shure sm7b and am looking for something to replace my GoXLR. I find it to take up too much of my desk space and I don’t use a lot of the features on it. Just want something solid with onboard DSP that’s small enough to be mounted under my desk out of the way.

I have this webcam and as of now there's the auto blurring of the bg, and settings to sharpen the face, idk if the color corrector works mainly because I haven't used that feature yet cause I liked how it looked and I misplaced the card in my move

If you're interested in content creation,Streaming I recommend a used Canon eos m50 and a off brand Amazon capture card. All together around $600. You can make KZbin videos with the camera, also live stream or even take pictures for Instagram and thumbnails. That's what I do and I love it

I pre-ordered the lumina back in the summer of 2021 so I only paid $150. Yes thats right $150. Is it worth $150, most definitely. I don't always have on my ring lights when I'm gaming but it still captures pretty good. I like the AI with the fact that it can follow along my movements based on if I'm leaning to pick something up or jump up from excitement from something in-game. I'm definitely satisfied with it but plan on getting a DSLR in the near future.

When you guess all 4 correctly 👏🏻💪🏻 4 is obviously the camera. 3 is the go pro (fov gave it away) 3 and 1 are the webcams, 3 coloring and skin smoothing looked like the previews we saw earlier in the video. Leaving 1 to be the face cam

What camera did you use to record the start of the video with?

I currently use a $25 'Tecknet' Cam that I think I've made look good. For me, this video has cemented my want for the FaceCam. While I do think the Sony has the best detail, I believe that with some tint/color correction, added blur, and only being in 15% of the frame usually, that the FaceCam can achieve a very similar sharpness and quality. I have a number of other investments $800 would be better suited for as I'm just starting out. I'll be waiting for the next sale (hoping for under $150) and I'll be grabbing a new FaceCam Edit: This is the first time I've been convinced a mid DSLR would be better than the FaceCam. I'd like to see you pull out all the stops and see if you could improve it to be better than the ZV-E10, as well as to an a5100, the old faithful of KZbin cams

I got the FaceCam about a month ago. If you spend some time with the software and have decent lighting you can make it look VERY good. I have a Sony a6000 as well and the FaceCam won't get that clean but its close.
