Is This Project Doomed to Fail?

I made a Minecraft server that I literally thought was not possible. It’s a server for datapack developers (and normal people too), where you can make and share minigames, maps, anything at all really, using the vanilla tools given to you by Mojang, in all their weird Minecraft-y glory. This has been a ton of work. Now it's up to you guys to show if it was worth it.

This video is about a new minecraft datapack server for developers, programmings, mapmakers, command block users, minigame players, map enjoyers, etc etc. It has VSCode in the browser, it's a minigame network sort of, uhhh, what other cool words can I say down here. If you want to learn commands or a command tutorial, this is a great place to get started. You can learn how to make a datapack so much faster, without the boring part. It's easy for real for real. You can even use command blocks, if that's your thing. WorldEdit is here too. Yup. Ok I think that is enough description.

As an experienced datapack developer I would like to see this server greatly expand. However, while I think that making it very easy for inexperienced datapack developers to easily create their servers is a great thing, it also makes it very easy for you to run into some extreme lag and performance issues. Functions that run lots of commands per tick with bad optimization could easily make your server unplayable. However, I do think this is an awesome idea and I hope it does well!

23w51a added 4 new attributes to map makers being Step Height, Entity Interaction, Block Interaction and best of all the Scale Attribute which now you can be tiny or giant size and make mobs tiny and large without mods or plugins.

Super cool server style. I always wanted to do something similar. Very similar to Diamondfire, a Minecraft server where you code with blocks and items in game. I always wanted something like that but with command blocks so it would have all the functionality Minecraft intended for the map creators. I think your server style both makes so much sense, but is also done in an amazingly seamless way with a webpage to program on that is made for your server. Almost like magic. This is one of the ideas that I've always had in the back of my mind, but have never had enough resources (or commitment) to execute. I hope that, given the server seems very popular already, you don't burn out on this project or get tired of it; it seems like one of the next big hubs for creativity.

This is an incredible project; I've been convinced to get back into datapack creation and exploration. The concept of being able to share and collaborate on your creations so easily and seamlessly seems like such a huge deal that will hopefully create a proper datapack/mapmaker community. The detail that you can download/export your creations is a huge deal because that alleviates my only fear of this platform: creating something cool and having to worry if your work will disappear if the server becomes too expensive to upkeep.

I was always planning on making my own 2D game inside of minecraft like a platformer or and RPG, But now with this server......... I CAN MAKE IT MULTIPLAYER!!!!!-----after buying a rank of course. I do see why you would need moderation for the resource packs and all that but it does make my a little sad that i would have to pay for the resource pack as I myself am a resource pack developer. I want to hop on this immediately but I probrably wont be paying for the resource pack until i have made map in the test world and have ported it over. But this revolutionary server??!! I AM ALL IN!

The concept of this server reminds me a lot of another server DiamondFire, except that this server is more generous with minigame development features. (DiamondFire only gives you a small plot of land for your minigame and you do all the coding in-game and locks many features behind paywalls) People are going to do some really cool stuff with this!

My man, really stoked for the idea. There is a server called diamonfire (not a promotion) and it does essentially the same thing but in a different way. Your project remnds me the wholesome times I've had back on that server. It was more powerful back then because datapacks werent even a thing. They still impress me till this day BUT In my opinion datapack dedicaded server is a lot welcoming and vanilla. I love vanilla experience because it is this thing when you thought that your game has drowned itself in repetition with default creative/survival and smps servers but then it opens an entire backdoor to peek through. You suddenly feel so powerful after discovering all the vanilla hidden features. I remember the time before 1.12 and functions when we had to use so many niche and quarky mechanics using command blocks and old command to find workarounds and make it work. Did you know that pre1.13 you had an option to use {display:{LocName:""}} instead of {display:{Name:""}} if you wanted to remove italic font? Yeah this was very unknown and I felt immense power upon everyone XD I'd really like to play on the server and create my own online minigame or adventure map for everybody to try out. Mapmaking experience since 2016 baby gotta spend it somewhere

As someone who has been trying to make datapacks/minigames for quite a while - this looks amazing. Most of my projects never get completed as they are either too ambitious or I have no-one to playtest or share with. So with this server at least half of the reasons my projects fail could be gone. I just hope the server won't be too laggy for us Australian players
