I traveled to a lot of countries that has friendly people but most of the time they are expecting tips and most probably a scammer. Cempedak same genus with jackfruit & breadfruit, & only available in South East Asia... assorted of 'Kuih' usually can easily be found in street stall like goreng pisang stall in Kampung Baru... Nasi Dagang served with Gulai(Malay style curry) Ikan(Fish) Tongkol(Skipjack Tuna)... fyi, Kampung Baru is a traditional Malay village located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's bustling capital city. Despite its proximity to the modern city center, Kampung Baru has managed to maintain its unique identity and rich cultural heritage. The village was established in the early 1900s as a settlement for rural Malays who migrated to Kuala Lumpur in search of better economic opportunities. Today, it is home to approximately 18,000 residents who live in traditional wooden houses and enjoy a close-knit community spirit. Kampung Baru is known for its vibrant food scene, with a plethora of stalls and restaurants offering traditional Malay dishes such as nasi lemak, satay, and rendang. Visitors can also explore the village's many markets and shops, which sell a wide range of goods from fresh produce and clothing to handmade crafts and souvenirs. Despite its charm and cultural significance, Kampung Baru has faced challenges in recent years as developers eye the prime real estate for potential redevelopment. However, efforts have been made to preserve the village's unique character and heritage, with initiatives such as the Kampung Baru Development Corporation (KBDC) working to balance modernization with conservation. Overall, Kampung Baru offers a fascinating glimpse into Malaysia's traditional way of life and serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving cultural heritage in the face of rapid urbanization Thank you for visiting Malaysia..I hope you enjoy your stay in Kuala Lumpur and have a great time exploring all the city has to offer. Don't hesitate to ask local people any questions or for recommendations on things to do or see in Kuala Lumpur! Malaysia Truly Asia 😍

Thank you very much for bringing the history and situation of this lovely district closer! We hope that local residents defend themselves against big investors because this is really part of KL that shows the life of Malaysians at that time, who are incredibly nice and hospitable 🥰🙏🏽

You wont easily find kueh in a shopping mall, only in Malay stalls and eateries outside of shopping malls. To get the best Malay food nearby KLCC, pls go to Kampung Baru. The best way to eat rice dishes is to mix the ingredients , not eat the side dishes one by one. The “powder” in nasi kerabu s coconut shavings. Nasi dagang goes well with pickled veges eg cucumber/ carrot etc

"Pisang goreng" is fried bananas which is fried with flour. Jackfruits are "Nangka". "Popiah" are spring rolls. Take note: they're addictive. There's this place known as Kajang in the state Selangor, they're famous for their satay. Mainly, chicken & beef skewers. But some other places, have lamb skewers. For drinks: there's "air sirap" which is syrup water. Then there's also, "sirap bandung" that's with condensed milk.

Just a tip for nasi kerabu, as someone who also is not a fan of fishiness you can mix the rice with all its ingredients, because there is fermented fish sauce in it (the blackish sometimes reddish sauce), so when you mix it it gets spread all over so you dont really taste it but just the slight umami 😁
@JayandKarolina Жыл бұрын
Ah slightly umami is alright. Although next time I’ll just ask for no fish sauce and I’ll be happy! It seems people eat a lot of seafood here in Malaysia so I’m trying to eat as much local food but try to adapt it to not be fishy haha
@flyingfox3766 Жыл бұрын
@@JayandKarolinaes just request no fish sauce, and its not an uncommon request, the sauce is called budu (boo-do)

The reason why the rice is blue in colour it because it added the dried Asian butterfly pea flowers. This ingredient is commonly used in Southeast Asia food. The blue colour of the rice comes from the petals of Clitoria ternatea (butterfly-pea) flowers (bunga telang), which are used as a natural food colouring in cooking it.
@zulfikranzulmos4066 Жыл бұрын
Sweet like bananas haha.. They're just bananas cut thinner and fried in batter.. Usually eaten late afternoon like high tea.. Usually eaten on it's own or with special sauce.. Keropok goreng will complement Pisang goreng but they do have other fried fruits also..

14:48 That's Petrosains (literally means petroleum science in malay)! And you guess it right, it's a science centre where people bring their kids tgt for family hangout.. It's built to promote interest in science and technology, with petroleum as the theme, as it is one of the abundant natural resources in the country.. The twin towers are owned by Petronas, a state energy firm which exclusively own oil and gas resources in Malaysia!

Guys. Actually there is one shop selling Traditional Malay Kuih just outside the entrance of supermarket when you asked that guy. Its located in front of the entrance at Ground Floor. Tips about food in Malaysia, when you eat a meal of rice or noodles or anything else, you have to mix everything up to know the real taste of that meal. Thats the way we eating, by putting everything include all the condiments and sauce on a spoon or by hand. You should try Satay Chicken & Beef at Kampung Baru as well. And your mission of food in Malaysia will not be completed if you not try the Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng ( Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken ). It is our signature dish no matter morning, evening or night. There is one popular Nasi Lemak at Kampung Baru called Nasi Lemak Wan Jo. You should try it. If you dont like spicy too much, asked them to put only small portion of Sambal. Asked them to put in half cook fried egg as well. The yolk is so delicious when eating with Nasi Lemak.

Little did we know... Next time we will do a proper Kuih Hunt haha Yes, mixing u all the ingredients brings the original taste! And adding the sambar at the end to balance the spiciness 😂 We have actually tried the famous Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng at Wanjo and it was decent but quite average. If you haven't seen the video yet, here the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZS0nJxtpcSioMU Next time we will definitely try the street food Nasi Lemak for the authentic taste!
