It is really nice to have Kampong Baru in the middle of KL so that foreigners can enjoy the Kampong Vibes just a walking distance from their hotels in the city. The makciks, the kuih sellers should put tags for name of the kuihs so that foreigners would know the kuih name. Teh C is 'tea with evaporated milk and sugar'. 'C' for Carnation, the most well known brand of evaporated milk. The default 'teh' on its own mean 'tea with condensed milk an extra sugar'. Teh tarik is usually made with 'teh', not 'teh C'. If you don't want the extra sugar, say 'kosong' (Malay for 'empty'). And if you don't want milk, say 'Oh' (this is Hokkien Chinese for 'black').

Normally roti canai made by Malay got softer texture and fluffy whereby Indian or mamak roti canai much more hard or sometimes crunchy. Maybe the mixture of the dough got little different. There are various type of roti canai and you should try the roti special, roti tsunami, roti tisu and roti pisang. Teh tarik mean pulled tea consist of tea and condensed milk. The cold tea is called teh ais mean ice tea. Teh C consist of tea, evaporated milk and sugar.

Square i.e 4 side in Malay is (4) Empat Segi and its more crunchy. Sometimes when you go to Mamak and order Roti Canai/Kosong, they serve you the already made one and warm it up for you... normally popular Mamak that expect lots of customers do this so the roti is not fresh from the pan but already made in bulk and warm it up on order. The trick to get freshly made one is to order Roti Empat Segi so they have to make a new one because ready made ones are rounded shape, not square.

Loved every second of the vlog!! Salivating here 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Teh tarik means pulled tea so it’s always hot. Teh ais means iced tea. Anything with “C” means it’s prepared with evaporated milk and not condensed milk. Normal ones always with condensed milk, that’s why you can taste the caramel. 🙏🏻. For roti canai, you can eat it the way you ate or some prefer the roti canai banjir. Banjir means “flooded “. Hahaha so you can imagine it 💃💃💃. They will cut the roti canai into pieces and then they will add the Dhall, curry and Sambal on top of it. 🤤🤤🤤🤤. That’s how I like it. For this we usually use fork and spoon to eat. Mix it and enjoy it. 💃. I’ll show you the picture on Instagram dm yeah so that you’ll have the rough idea on how it looks like. 🤩 Have you guys tried Banana Leaf Rice?? I’ll share the pic too on Instagram dm. Some recommended roti bom, I’m not sure if you guys will love it or not as it’s very very very sweet. Made with sugar and some with condensed milk. 🫣🫣🫣 Hahaha we laughed so much when you said the prime minister visited Kampung Baru 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Ohhh yeah just for your info, actually not all the kuih you get from the street is nice. You’re tasting it for the first time, definitely nice. But for us the locals we will know if it’s good or vice versa. Some adds too much of colouring in it. If you’re heading to Penang, do try to experience their Nyonya kueh from the market. It’s awesome and authentic. 😍

The distinguish difference between the Malay and Indian roti canai are from the batter. Malay roti canai put a bit condensed milk in the batter. So there is a bit sweetness to the flavour. The flackiness is depend on the style to roll or to 'canai' the batter. Usually the stretch, then twirl then thiny the batter get the best flakiness. Both malay and Indian does it, but not much doing it because the process takes longer time.

One of the factors that cause many Foreign Tourists to come to Malaysia is because many of them can speak English. This is because the school also teaches English as the second priority after Malay and Arabic. Furthermore, Malaysia was once of British colonialism...

That rounded type of kuih is called onde onde ( say...on day....on day ) Inside is a mix of coconut and green peas which is known as mung beans ( the beans that we used to make sprouts) The outside layer is the skin that is made up of gluten rice flour.

When you stopped at one stall and enquired about the kuih (snacks) sold, a Malay youth , a passer-by, who called himself 'LAN' explained that red sugar was used in that particular kuih. He was articulate, but red sugar was a direct translation of the Malay word 'gula merah.' He was referring to palm sugar, a brownish form of sugar popularly used in Malay food.

WOW! that woman was so nice! Respect! As a Malaysian, I don't find much difference between Indian-Tamil-Muslim (Mamaks) or Malay version of Roti Chanai or even the non-Muslim Indian Roti chanai, other than the fact that the 3rd one won't serve you beef. It can be good or bad, really doesn't matter which type. :)

Roti canai you were eating with that side in yellow colour called dalca (pronounced: dulcha). I love you two exploring a Kampung (village) vibe within a mega city of Kuala Lumpur. You were going an exact place which is namely Kampung Bharu (New Village). Drinks like Teh O means tea doesn't mix with condensed milk. While Teh Tarik means it does so. The word Tarik means pull, the tradition of pulling a cup of tea from a cup to another cup like stretching out something to give more 'sedap'😂. If you say plus with Ais, it is ice cubes where you wanna cold drinks. The same way when you gonna drink coffee, we say Kopi O, Kopi Tarik, Kopi O Ais. Have a nice day guys❤
