I've built about 25 AKs and 25 AR15s over the last 20+ years. It's still affordable to build AKs if you don't mind starting with rougher kits and can do your own blasting, parkerizing and or spray finishes.

@@JohnDoeEagle1 i use to do zinc and magnesium phosphate, but the time involved wasn't worth it IMO in the log run. Started doing Gunkote and never looked back. The flat black looks just like phosphate. Matching number Russian, Bulgarian, and Romanian Krink kits sold for under $350. Slap the required US parts on and good to go.

When you refer to "building" an AK does that mean the same thing as building an AR and just putting it together? It seems like it would be actually building and less assembling with an AK.
@gungadinn Жыл бұрын
@@30rdmaga Unlike an AR, if you purchase a premade receiver, you still have to do the drilling for the trunnion rivets, then rivet both trunnions to the receiver. Otherwise, building from a flat requires bending, machining, heat treating, spot welding and riveting before pressing the barrel to headspace. AR assembly paying attention to details, 2 hours including torquing the barrel nut. Building an AK that's fitted tight, 6-8 hours and a fair amount of tools and skills not required on a AR.

As cool as non-reciprocating charging handles are, I would rather have one that reciprocates. The reason is geared more towards reliability. The question becomes what happens when the weapon starts to jam up and doesn't fully go into battery? The AR10/15 solves the problem with the forward assist however, it's not a perfect fix. I can almost hear someone reply to this saying, "you shouldn't ram a round into the chamber for X reason." or "if the weapon doesn't go into battery on it's own then you have a problem and ramming a round into the chamber won't fix it." My answer is threefold. 1. Most firearms go into battery with more force than most humans are capable of. You cannot hurt the gun in this manner. 2. Yes. If a firearm fails to go into battery on its own, you have problem. That problem can be a light powder load, a weak recoil spring, gas system failure or even an overfull magazine. 3. In the heat of the moment in which one's life is on the line, they don't care what the issue is. The weapon needs to work. If ramming the bolt forward keeps them in the fight, they will do so.
@411DL Жыл бұрын

Great review. On another note…..REALLY like to take that Pinzgauer (start of video) off your hands if you want to part with it. It would be at home next to my Unimog. Keep on keeping on

Built 3 AR’s In 6.5 Grendel for that price. Grendel ammo costs way more but at least you get a real battle rifle you can take deer with at 300 yds too.

Its a PSA KS-47 with AR-180 upper. Another clarification is its an AR-180 with a AR modified lower designed to take AK style magazines. Wonder if Colion knows about the KS-47. Sure there are fans nearby, make sure its running a 10 oz buffer with a KS-47 bolt minimum. Also Gen 2 PSA KS-47 has bolt lock on empty.

Nice 😊Ak's are reliable. I used to put a case of ammo through bullpup and no hangups! Too expensive to do this now.

I have an SGL-21 and a SAM7R. Arsenal makes a great AK, and I have always preferred my AK's to be from com block countries, but this rifle looks very nice!

My only question is how the di system holds up to the most corrosive junk ammo since you can't exactly clean the inside of your gas tube every time.

Mr N, Can you check the CZ 527 sir? It’s my favorite rifle for hunting here in Alaska. It doesn’t kick me hard, ammo is easy to get, magazines were easy to get. And it has decent knock down power.

I use CMMG stripped uppers and lowers for my AR builds. Just make your AR piston driven...

Their buffer less uppers are meant to snap right on regular AR lovers
