So happy that you enjoyed our little town! I've lived in PA for 15 years and I've never done the underground tour. After watching your video it's on my to-do list!

I've lived in Port Angeles for about six years, having moved here from the Philadelphia area. You're right, there aren't many Black people here. But the number has slowly grown over the past few years. I'm pleased to hear that you felt comfortable during your visit. One thing you didn't mention in your video that some of your viewers might find interesting is the fact that you can take a ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. If a bit of international travel sounds appealing, Port Angeles is a great spot to launch from.

Are people in Port Angeles comfortable that there is a growing black population?
@samgrello5 ай бұрын
@@JohnLee-db9zt Heck yes! There may be some mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging hill people that have ugly views about people of color, but they can eat a bag of spoiled geoducks.
@akken21123 ай бұрын
@@JohnLee-db9zt That's a good question but, I would imagine that like anywhere else, the opinion varies from individual to individual also, how many people would be totally honest with a question like that?

I'm curious why u gave the title to ur Channel u did? I think most people (except a very slim minority) would see u both as a nice looking couple just out&about to experience life,meet people and enjoy themselves. The Colour issue is neither here or there! Unless I misinterpreted the title,if so? My apologies&ignore my comment.But i wish u all the best& hope u enjoy urself&ur experiences!👍

@@jerryoshea3116 Black people being able to travel safely and feel comfortable in unfamiliar places is a real concern. Consider yourself lucky if this is not something that you’ve ever had to think about while traveling. The channel name helps them reach people who may feel anxious about traveling to certain areas because of the very real, and still quite prevalent racism and discrimination that occurs in this country.
@jerryoshea3116 Жыл бұрын
@@JG1116 Is it a genuine concern? Or a perception perpetuated by certain sections of the MSM!..Just like having anyone who intends or wishes to vote,produce proof of I.D. but the media says this is Racist Policy! ,Which is of course nonsense!.it should be in place to maintain the integrity of the Political System ¬ replicate some kind of third world Banana Republic! And as for the U.S most parts of the Country they intend travelling through,will of course be accessible&welcoming to the Black population of the U.S ( just as it would to or not be to anyone else)&certainly be safe! ..Now is that to say,there's no chance of them encountering some kind of narrow minded bigot,well no,that can't be guaranteed,but as I said for the majority of interactions and transactions that take place,they're won't be any kind of issues! .And if there is,it doesn't always have to consist of a Racial Component.. As the MSM would love to suggest and exploit' .p.s And I've done plenty of travelling&there's certain places around the World which aren't safe to those with a lighter skin colour!

Thanks for a nice summary on your trip to PA. It does look like the ferry departure from Edmonds was busy. Early morning is best and if you can take the ferry on a weekday...that's even better. Have you had a chance to tour Edmonds? Lots to do there and some fishing or whale watching tours leave from the Edmonds marina. I do love your channel, I was expecting more people to find you after the KUOW segment.

You are so lucky that the Hood Canal Bridge did not close, (open for a boat) These back-ups can add 2 hours to your drive. Your sights were informative. This is nit picking, but you are still far from the Pacific Ocean. The Straits of Juan De Fuca (few ka) connects the Puget Sound to the Pacific Ocean.

I love my hometown. So much more to see you guys missed though! Happy you guys enjoyed it, it is not the most black friendly honestly... Live there and you'll feel it... From my experience. But! Keep the traveling spirit! I got a lot of beautiful places I know to go in Washington if you need ideas though. No matter how people be though, treat others as you want to be treated in return and keep moving 😉
@TravelingWhileBlack17 ай бұрын
Yes we already know we have to plan a return trip (possibly two) so to catch the things we may have missed. We 100% defer to your experience living there! We usually like to interview Black residents living in the places we visit so to add their perspective. We say in some of our other videos that we just drop in to places for a day, maybe two or three, but since this is just our perspective there are many more to take into account. Our hope is more of our people (and tbh really any BIPOC) go to these places and also share their experiences so that there can be more individual perspectives that can either add to how we graded it or at least make us and others aware that there are in fact things in these locations to be aware of. Thanks again for watching and commenting your experience. Hopefully we run into you on our Washington travels!

I've been living in PA since 2018..it's predominantly white and they're kinda racist here. And it's a tourist trap town. Theirs not a lot of jobs,theirs a lot of junkies/homeless and its A logger and manufacturing town. Besides fast food and Healthcare..theirs no jobs. And it's rich in Native American culture like the Makah Tribe.

YES THIS I FEEL LIKE MOST MEDIA PORTRAYS IT AS A NICE QUIET TOWN WHEN IT'S REALLY NOT FOR THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE
@cw51188 ай бұрын
My family moved here in 79. Maybe I hadn’t noticed racism the way you might be referring. I went to Stevens Middle School in the early 80’s. Spent time on the rez after being “initiated.” I was a white token, used for what I had. My belongings were “borrowed.” I’ve also lived in New Jersey and Maui. I know what racism is and it wasn’t me being racist. Decades later I find out my ancestry; Cherokee, Filipino, black, Scots, Irish, Jewish, German, etc. It was fascinating looking into my heritage. Scots accept you with even one drop of Scottish blood. Other ethnic groups… not so much. I’ve wondered what it would have been like knowing who you are, who your people are and that sense of belonging. Being so many different nationalities one can feel lost. I’ve been a minority as I’ve stated in so many words. I can’t really identify with any group except the human race and fellow traveler of this journey called life.

You need to upgrade from 1080p to 4K. Second talking about black and white folks really should not be part of this type of video. This video is good tour and History of the town. just my two cents

@vadak6157 So much 🐂💩in one comment. "People of Color"? Everyone has a "color", but y'all took the phrase and wear it like a badge of honor...then turnaround and use it as an excuse for everything that doesn't go your way. I still don't know why Black people think the world owes them something - incredible.
@kp905 Жыл бұрын
@vadak6157 @vadak6157 actually I am a person of color. I agree it's important to be proud of ones ethnicity and culture. I've never been anywhere or heard of any place in the US that discriminate against people of color. Clearly you are missing the point. Posting videos titled traveling while black is not showing pride of ones skin color. It' just perpetuates the idea that I'm different because of my skin color. Which is inferior way of thinking. we are all humans. People need to stop making everything about skin color. We ended discrimination laws a long time ago. It's time to start acknowledging or similarities not differences in skin color. Dumb bitch.

@vadak6157Usually these type of vids are meant to be for everyone to consume..And i've travelled quite a bit,around the world but if i was to make a Vid. And let's say I was visiting the Asian or African continents would I give it a title 'Travelling while White' No I don't think,that would make a lot of sense&be appreciated by a wider Audience!!
