Good to hear that Martin Luther King Jr.s work and faith and dream shines over the past racism of many places, including Tricities WA. Warms my heart and enjoyed watching you live out his dream. I love the guy in the background chiming in "it's four", had me laughing out loud". Posted from a white guy whose 12th birthday card was of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King jr. because my mom, a civil rights worker knew I admired him and looked up to him for the power of non-violence during such a hateful time and the power of love over hate back in the 60s. God bless you both as you enjoy his legacy!

@@Erin____ I want to move to Idaho. They did not go into lockdown in 2020. They had church and restaurants- Washington has the worst taxes 7% sales tax. Terrible Governor Jay Inslee. Many of my friends here express a desire to move Ive lived here for 23 years. The population has almost doubled. No longer a small town feel. In 2001 there were no trees except for Burbank, and parks and parts of Richland. Lots of sand too. I moved from green grass and trees mountains and Rivers. It has gotten better but its expensive to live here. Rent/mortgages and groceries and gas. I hope u find a great place to move.

We do have issues with counting on this side of the cascades. I’m sure it has nothing to do with being down stream of the Hanford nuclear plant. 😁😁😁

West Richland isn’t part of the Tr-Cities. It’s the passive aggressive step sister. I grew up in Richland, it’s nice, but not really pro black historically. I’m glad you addressed the lack of black faces. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Generally speaking, most people driving between Richland and West Richland won’t know when they cross. TriCites is considered an area. As long as cities connect, West Richland is part of TriCities. Even some social services are for both cities, an example is school district.

I’ve lived in Tri town for 30 years, and I was shocked to find out that you actually taught me more about my own hometown. lol! Like, I had no idea Dove Tail even existed! Thanks for the info and thank you for visiting. You seem like lovely people and you’re welcome back anytime with open arms. ❤

Dovetail Joint is only a few years old. Great food when they have items that you enjoy. Their menu changes CONSTANTLY, so it's not great for creatures of habit like myself. Unfortunately, the last couple times I was there, nothing really piqued my interest.

I'm white and moved here (Tricities) as an adult, but my huband and his family have lived here for a few generations and he told me of its history. I was really surprised, but agree it has definitely shaped the regions demographics. I was super curious to hear your perception of the area. I feel like your assessment was pretty fair. I hope these towns can continue to be more welcoming to people of all races. Thanks for your video! There were some places you mentioned that I hadn't heard of and will have to check out!

@Malikforever I've been here a year now and to say that this area has long ways to go as far as it's diversity and treatment of those not white would be an accurate statement. We have faced longer wait times at restaurants, my partner has been called the n-word several times, while DoorDashing we've had close calls, and other incidents that will make this area not be home for us. On the flip side, I have made some good friends and there are good people here and I love my job so there is that. I wish you the best of luck.
@TravelingWhileBlack13 ай бұрын
We hate to hear that. We are sorry that you all had to experience that type of treatment. But it’s good that you’ve found some bit of community. We hope that you start to see continued positive change in the area. Stay safe and thanks for watching!

Tri Cities Diversity & Inclusion council is an amazing non-profit too working to enrich this city with culture.
