Love all the JFJ videos on this channel. Had mine for about a year with light use and am happy with it. Results I'm sure will vary with games but I can tell you it works well dvd's and blue rays. Keep up this helpful channel.

I switched to other compounds and got some superior results I use the 3M perfect it series and I get them looking new everytime. Technique Also has a learning curve but after some practice and know what you're doing it's the best bang for the buck even better than the eco pro imo

Hey do you know why I keep getting little swirl scratches on the discs?
@rubenmejia4881
@rubenmejia4881 Жыл бұрын
@@BIGGABE361 yeah there's multiple reasons for it, but I would say technique and compounds are what fixes them. I use different compounds and I also add in a 3rd step which I call the finishing process. I use 3M perfect-it EX series plus a black finishing pad from Meguiars the Dff6. Make sure to use adequate compound that usually helps. When the polish is over and see some left on the disc that makes it look a little wet then you're good. I could show off a picture of a black playstation disc people usually struggle with and I got it looking mirror finish.

whats a good refurbish machine for deeper scratches?

From what I have learned, it would be the Elm ECO Auto Smart, it´s the one I have seen on many used game stores. It yields the best results, the downside is that it´s a rather expensive machine. Around 2 to 3k in mint or new condition. In my opinion, you would need to run a full time game/disc related business for it to be worth the investment.

My JFJ came with a plastic disc. But still gets extremely hot. Not metal like yours. But I agree, the machine does come with issues. Particularly when it gets to the data layer. I've had data completely removed. Where I've had to resurface multiple times. To get to deeper data layers. Making them playable again. So you really need to experiment, with the time & polishing compounds being used.

I hate the machines' compounds as they tend to leave marks on the discs, and I use Meguiar's Ultimate Compound. I get much better results using that. I also never use the sandpaper at the recommended times, as it's too much. 2 rounds of 3 seconds it more than enough. And I always spray some water on both disc and buffing pad before polishing, as well as on the disc before sanding it. Gives WAY better results. Still saving up for an Eco Pro 2 or Hybrid 2.0 though.

They dont really have better option for the plating but metal. The few materials that woudlnt get hot, or would better disperse the heat due to the pressure and friction would be super fragile, like ceramics or stone. Plasitcs and fiberglass would warp. So you would be sacrificing durability for either fragility or less long term use. Just makes sense to go with metal, considering the machine isnt meant for industrial constant use, but rather moderate home use anyway. As long as you dont clean disc after disc and let it cool down it shouldnt be a problem.

Great vid but I wanted to ask, is the machine supposed to fix the inner part of the discs? I have a few that I buffed out but still don't work and I'm wondering if it's that the inner circle is scratched. Appreciate any help. I want to love this machine but so I far I only like it 😂
@AirValYT

Ya unfortunately if the scratches are too deep the jfj wont buff them out at all but for the lighter stuff it does a decent job. Also if the disc doesnt work before you use the jfj, it most likely won’t fix the inner disc or deep scratches. Hope that helps👍🏻

Beware of running the machine for to long. I made a mistake of repairing too many discs in one session. I went to repair the next day and the part that spins broke right off the axle 😂 Whoops. Ive also heard others talk about motor issues. That is really the only con to the machine. I wouldnt repair more than 5 - 7 discs before letting it cool for 1/2 hour to 1 hour. Dont quote me on that though. Point is...just be aware of thie issue Spray a couple spurts of water on new pads, as this will help with get pad moist and soft. This helps to keep the game cool to avoid damage and warping. I also put a small piece of anti-scratch cloth on part where your place the disc and screw it in(knob). I do this because i've noticed small little rings on the center of the discs sometimes. If you place a small piece of the anti-scratch cloth in between the disc and knob, it helps to avoid this issue. It also makes it easier to unscrew the knob after use. Good machine for the price. Just know, it is not a comercial machine. It has limitations on how many discs you can repair before burning the motor. I have a system where i use it almost everyday but minimally. If you have a stack of games just waiting to be repaired, just remember to pace yourself as you dont want to blow the motor or brake the axle thingy-ma-jiggy 😂 hope this helps someone make an imformed decision and saves them some $$$$ ✌

@@redfairmont overall, the swirl marks are really only an issue if you look from certain angles. I did end up liking the results it gave, enough to have purchased a second one now. I do run a business though so most people wouldn’t need to own more than one, I just like not having to switch out all the pads, sanding discs, etc. constantly and can now get more than twice as many games done in the same amount of time.

I dont resell, so dropping over 1.5k on a disc machine like an eco pro is overkill. This machine for the price range is about as good as it gets for home use, for those not made of money or not investing on their own business. It does minor repairs, just doesnt perform miracles. Most people can afford and justify getting it, but that cant be said about a machine that cost 1.5k for a niche purpose. Considering jfj is the middle child from the shitty hand crank skip drs, to the entry level professional machines like an eco pro, its easily the best option for most people just looking for a reliable way to bring life back to some older discs that are salvagable.
