This Stelvio seems to have everything, a lot of substance... without excessive power, cardan, torque and what is needed to travel well. Good job! I was one of those who said I will never drive a Guzzi.. 19,000km happy on v85tt. Only idiots don't change their minds..

Agree. I still like the rough look of my gsa1200 '15 but if I was on the market for a substitute, I have little doubt the Stelvio would be my choice. I dislike the looks of the new gs1300. Ugliest bike I've seen for a long time.

Seems this Guzzi has taken the place vacated by the boxer GS. The GS is too techy, and high priced for a lot of people. This Guzzi could be the answer to a lot of people. It certainly has the looks, capability, practicality, and appeal.

I love Moto Guzzi brand. It's truly a european bike, still assembled in Mandello, Italy. You buy a Moto Guzzi for the brand, one of the oldest brands on the market and #1 in Europe. I would love to buy one, but there are no dealers nor workshops that know Moto Guzzi well enough. I dont know why the Piaggio Group isn't investing their time in making Guzzi more appealing on more markets. Even in Europe it's hard to find a dealer/workshop to trust with your Guzzi bike. People love Guzzi, but are obviously not willing to buy one if there isn't a basic foundation somewhere close. Hell, in Sweden with 11 million people there isn't a single good authorized MG workshop.

For me, the Mandello is still king. I'm not into adventure bikes, but this is a cracking example of the adventure bike breed. That said, why didn't they put that neat rear carrier on the Mandello? The OEM one is hideous, but this one is delightfully simple and functional.

Guzzista over here.. current owner and I have owned a stelvio before. Been waiting for this bike for a while. It does look amazing and I was hoping for a little more on the off-road side. But it's gorgeous and I'm afraid it's going to be 17 or 18 grand here in the US and that's just too much. I will have to hope that triumph comes and competes with Honda Suzuki and Yamaha. In that 10,000 12,000 price point

Looks like a very compelling option, especially if you like the slight quirkiness of a Guzzi or you want something with that slight bit of Euro exotica. I have to wonder if this will cannibalize the V85TT sales to the point where it won't be worth keeping in the lineup. With the Tuareg, you have what is a more capable and likely less expensive offering from the Piaggio group and then this fill that slightly more premium spot.

Looks great! Only concern is why the Stelvio doesn’t seem to have electronic suspension option. Wish it had the electronic suspension of the Mandello with the Stelvio design…!! I would also argue that it’s a little heavy in spec, but still looks really good. Will be keen to see the price given the new GS has just landed.

This is by far the best looking Guzzi for a long time. The Mandello doesn’t look quite right to my eye, but this Stelvio is spot on. Unfortunately as usual Guzzi have got here about ten years too late! There will obviously be space in the market for them, I would buy one ahead of most others as a road tourer. But the adventure market is moving rapidly in another directions, smaller, lighter more capable bikes are plentiful now. As always it will sell to those looking for a GS alternative or die hard Guzzi fans, like myself. It does look fantastic, I look forward to trying one.

Well, as a dealer the V100 has been a fairly trouble free new bike and Moto Guzzi has been pretty quick on the few issues that we've seen. I've owned 4 with almost 100k in total mileage and I will have to say that they have all been pretty well bullet proof when touring including my 17 Stelvio which was my go too when touring. After my last trip to Italy I replaced that with a V85TT that's been my daily rider for the last year. 12000 miles and it's still one of my favorites.

Hmm. Worried this is a little undercooked for the segment. It’s super crowded right now. A diehard Guzzi fan will look no further obvs but is this bike going to win over new-to-brand buyers that could choose from (for instance) the Husky Norden, Tracer GT, KTM 890, new V-Strom, Ducati MTS V2S etc not to mention the V85 or V100 Mandello? Also I’m guessing with the BMW 1300GS out next year, older GS models will be a little bit more of a bargain than usual on the second hand market?

Any idea what the fuel consumption is like, this was the most disappointing part of the old Stelvio. I average 30mpg around town and 48/49mpg on a run, it has never been better than that. A friend with BMWs always delights in telling me that his bikes regularly do 60mpg or more which would be a more acceptable figure. By the way, these ar British gallons as I am in the UK so my figures are about 10% higher than US mpg. This will not stop me getting one at some point, depending on what the new motor is like when I get a test ride at my dealer later this year. Mark

It sounds very good. But besides my Quota and air-cooled Stelvio, there is no more space (and money) for another bike..

If that's the extent of the colours I'll give it a miss.If your spending a lot of money I feel everything has to be right.

Will never be a better ‘feel good’ engine as the grand old ‘big block’ 1100. 😉

Doesn’t matter if it’s the best bike ever created. In the USA the dealer network is almost non existent . I would imagine getting replacement parts or warranty work done would be difficult to say the least.

Well, as a stand alone Moto Guzzi dealer for the past 9 years I would have to say that there were occasional issues getting parts but over the years we've learned what to stock and have any maintenance part and can source most repair parts. As a shop we have riders from Pennsylvania to Illinois, Michigan to Florida bringing their bikes to us to work on. Currently in our shop we have a 1948 GTV500, 1974 V7 Sport, 1984 Lemans III and a late 60's V7 plus a few older airhead BMW's.

@@timashton3109 I am glad your shop is thriving and you have customers from all over the country coming to you for service. But me as a consumer, I don’t want to have to travel out of state to find a good shop and if I want to travel on my bike, there has to be a network of dealers in case of a break down or a repair is needed. I love the look and sound of the Moto Guzzi, and that is produces middle weight bikes with shaft drive , something the 4 Japanese makers used to produce in droves in the 70’s and 80’s but no more. Continued success and merry Christmas to you.
