That's a great idea with the thumb on bottom string , for a long time i wondered why some guitar players did that , until I realized what they were doing, thank you for sharing, your motown sounds great !

@5:17 It's C7#9 The other thing is guitar rhythm playing doesn't have to sound like a snare. Let the chords ring out... the point is you don't have hammer that rhythm like a drum. Finesse it out. Al McKay and Bruce Conte are two of the best rhythm players of all time, and you'll notice they let the rhythm guitar ring out.
