9:15 A froe is a carpentry tool. It's not really for splitting firewood. When you use the right tool for the wrong job, you get your experience here.
@BBTurning5 сағат бұрын
The thing with the long blade is called a maul and it is used to split wood along the grain, IE between the rings, if you try and split across the rings they don't work. They are primarily a very old carpentry tool. Shay

It's primarily used to make wood shingles for roofing
@PictishPrinceСағат бұрын
that tool is a shingle froe, you use it to split wood into shingles, not for firewood processing. Although the remnants of shingle making can be used for kindling.

I’ll never give up my splitting maul. Your original one is best. Because it won’t get caught up going further in. And the first wedge you used is a monster. Gotta use them near edges.

I think you’re suppose to split the froy with a heavier mallet preferably from a discarded wood.

You don't learn proper technique simply by doing. You can learn wrong and continue wrong since it works for you.

heavy thing, swing hard, wood go split, the principle remains the same but you don't just develope a master technique when you're never taught.

While you’re policing perfect wood splitting form, Tyler’s swing and use of the wedge are pretty typical. Not perfect, but typical. There’s a lot that he does that’s way off, but this is not one of those things.
