The thing with a roast is it’s more about homemade and who you eat it with. The best ones are made by your family and had together. No restaurant compares to that.

Agree, it's the culture and ritual of a get- together that makes it so special, rather than the food per se

Exactly it’s about people talking and laughing

This has genuinely made me smile. My favourite British dish by a country mile! Thanks for showing it some love!

That's the problem when things aren't made properly, you say you've tried it and you don't like it, but you just haven't had it the right way. Sad, but true. 😅

It's even better better if you go with your family or a bunch of friends.

A Sunday roast is truly a time for the British to come together and have a good time the roast is slow cooked stuff so it can be cooking with majority of the vegetables and stuff being done towards the end allowing people to talk. It’s a staple of the British cuisine. Once you have it you can’t not

Love Blacklock! The City branch is my absolute favourite 🥰 Their ‘All In’ experience is such good value 😀 Glad you enjoyed it! As others have said though, homemade Sunday roast beats any restaurant hands down, so you need to get yourself invited to someone’s house!

I always put mash and veggies inside my Yorkshire pudding drizzle a little bit of gravy on top and then just take bites out of it, I’ve done it ever since I was little and now my son eats them the same way. However you always need to leave one til the very end since they are the best item out of a Sunday dinner

I also recommend the Hawksmoor restaurants for Sunday roast. Bonus: there are branches in NY, and now in Chicago, so you can get your Sunday roast when you visit the Staes.

I make a mean rib roast with Yorkshire pudding. Its a bit on the pricy side, so its only special occasions. Its also become something everyone wants me to make on Christmas. My daughter is learning to keep up the new tradition. ☺️❤️

I love a good Sunday roast. You do need to research and have it at a restaurant or pub where they prepare it well. During the many years I lived in London I only had a few that was of excellent quality. We did return for Sunday roast to those places. ❤

We always had Sunday roast when I was growing up. Mum would prepare everything, then we would go to church, by the time we came back the meat was done and the Yorkshires were not. Mum never got the hang of Yorkshires from scratch. But her roast potatoes were always wonderful and add that to the stuffing, the gravy, the vegetables - plus spending time with the family - and it was wonderful.

The trick to good Yorkshire puddings in let the batter rest and cook them in a really hot oven. Don't open the oven until they are ready, that's very important. Jamie Oliver has a very good recipe for them. That's the method I just described, and they are delicious.

I think Sunday Roast is just like home cooking, family, gathering, kids playing. While you had a restaurant experience it would have probably been elevated surrounded by family or framily

I am always dubious when people compare other cities to NY. In the states people compare SF to NY and as some who now lives in the Bay Area and lived in SF I gotta say no way. Now Paris gave me big NYC vibes. Diversity, neighborhoods, major transit system, amazing energy. Never been to London, would love to know your take?
@LunaVioletta72 ай бұрын
Im a SF girl who’s lived in both NYC and London (and has traveled widely). I agree SF is not like NYC at all. It’s maybe the closest thing we have on the west coast, but not at all similar IMO (except maybe the work culture) London and NYC are indeed very similar, maybe even more so than Paris. London and Paris are of course more historic, but London especially has the hectic energy of NYC (but maybe a bit more toned down)
