Great intro to the website. Couple of years ago I bought a Rio Gold for about £100. After about three months it went kind of ‘crinkly’ in the hand when figure of eighting and when you then cast out the memory was horrendous. Replaced with a MaxCatch Gold which casts like a dream and still good to go.
@johnlaudenslager706Ай бұрын
I had the same problem with a Rio Gold three years ago. No such problem with two Scientific Anglers line after. Friend doing fine with few month's old Maxcatch floating line.

Cheers Scott. Certainly not suggesting not to buy the big brands I buy then myself and never had any major issues if they are well maintained but for your everyday fishing can’t see past the Maxcatch floating lines and if you damage them or get a wee nick it’s not breaking the bank to replace. 🎣

The perception line is outstanding. Even better than the gold. I've got the nano in a 7 weight great rod. Changed over to that from a stillmaniac.

I actually prefer the eco range they sell under £4 amazing value .i have used the wind cutter very good have bought one for myself the only thing i dislike on them is the dark head is practically invisible to me when wading but they do cast well in wind brilliant value
@MF-Fly_TyingАй бұрын
@@SusanRoberts-m9y hey I haven’t tried the eco range thanks for giving some feedback on it. Will need to give them a go. As for the wind cutter I’ve had a few people recommend it. With regards to the dark head being difficult to see you could potentially add a hang marker at the length of the fly line where you would lift off to cast so when the marker gets to the top eye of the rod you know how much fly line remains. Does that make sense? Just an idea 💡 🎣

Can’t recommend these floating lines enough, just started using their sink tip which fishes pretty close to a ‘fast glass’ and casts great

I used the max catch gold for a season or two and it was decent. Only thing I found was I needed a #7 line for my #6 rods. It does feel light but for the money it was really good.
@stef3309Ай бұрын
If you think it's underweighted for your rod I would highly recommend the Maxcatch Single Spey line as they're much heavier 😀
@MF-Fly_TyingАй бұрын
Was that on a fast action rod you found it needed a weight up? My rods are mid to fast so not had that problem. Most of the time I’m fishing from a drifting boat and short lining so never really have the need to throw a long line. What I will say is they are if anything on the slightly lighter side 👍🎣
@SpotsStripesFishingАй бұрын
@@MF-Fly_Tying Yea fast actioned and from the bank
@MF-Fly_TyingАй бұрын
@@SpotsStripesFishing your probably right going up a line size if the line is a wee touch light the fast action rod won’t load properly. alternatively you might need to work the rod a bit harder and add in a double haul. Line up as you have done is probably the right answer 🎣👍

Justin had a load of the avid. Like you he was given loads of extras. He gave me an avid. First thought was the belly was long. But soon got used to it. Spot on with every thing else. Lasted me about six months. But I fish a lot. I have had expensive Rio's, a good few actually. Won't go there again. Apart from the Rio aqua 11 which I love.

I’ve not found Maxcatch to deteriorate any quicker than the more expensive lines on the market I could be wrong and never noticed. I can be fishing 3/4 times per week and change the floaters once per season unless I damage them myself.
