There are a lot of mixed opinions on wrapping extension cords, which one do you use?

Great for parachute cords. Bad for electric cords. You need to do big loops, and make sure it doesn't twist. Or else you end up with cords that are twisty on the inside. Cords are not rope. And rope isn't an electrical cord.

That looks neat and easy to pull back out, but I think hand coiling is the best way for the cord’s sake. It doesn’t get twisted and no tight bends. You can also clean the cord with a rag as you coil it.

I prefer the chain method because you can throw your cord across whatever plywood scraps you have in the back of your pickup truck that usually takes flight a few streets from your job site and you can cover it with that extension cord and not have that problem ever again. It keeps the things you want to stay in your pickup truck in the back of your pickup truck when you're going down the highway.

@@Normal1855 No worries Bob. Over-under is a simple method that once learned, can be employed surprisingly fast. I can have a 30m cable done in less than 30 seconds, neatly. It also doesn't put much strain on the cable itself, and far, far, far less than wrapping it any most other common ways. Over-under is also a fantastic way to "undo" a cable, as it either allows you to take one end and throw the length of the cable out, without it tangling, or, lets you simply drop each coil as you're walking along with it, as the twists are inverted every second wind, it means over the length of the cable, or just two wraps, there are no twists in the cable.

Well you may or may not be correct ?? But in my 40+ yrs of rolling up cords , I have not found 1 foul proof way to wind them up! IDK if 1 exist right now that is easy to wrap /unwrap, stays bundled together for storage /transport, does not tangle / twist while wrapping, does not self inflict knots in itself, for some reason like 1/5.7 times I use a cord it will grow a knot into itself, I know was not there when I put it out an a saw was plugged into it the whole time , so where do the knots come from?? 😢😢🤔👍
