Bad news for Gamblers who love opening random booster packs. It's very GOOD news for actual collectors who are interested in buying individual cards. Prices will go down.

It’s weird the lengths people go to for cards lol. But what id be curious to know is how does this impact the cards themselves long term? Like do we know this wouldn’t harm them at all?

Boxes will become unsellable now, people can scan their crappy hypno rares and take out the charizard from the box & replace it with an unopened hypno. So instead of resealing packs which are much harder to do, you can reseal boxes and essentially rig all of your boxes for full price. Might be harder to do with old collectibles but you know damn well shops around the world will pick up this tactic when it becomes affordable and available.

Yep! Exactly why i shop at my local card store! They have sealed boxes of everything from alpha and beta up!!

I've already seen people using handheld portable metal detectors and they are able to determine which packs have certain rarities

This is so few and far between for people that can actually afford it though! The guy is charging $65 per pack to scan them. And there's no guarantee that he would send you the pack back if it actually had something good!

Not gonna lie, many reason why I don’t play competitively anymore in any TCG. It has such a huge cost to get in especially people who do this or weigh packs. I just play certain games anymore just for fun.

I don't know if it would be financially viable for someone to constantly scan pack after pack because each CT scan is going to cost the operator decent money 🤔🤔🤔

Seems like a scam service. You would need something with a very specific foiling most of the newer stuff I know of just foils the whole card. Which would just let you know there is a foil in the pack which is pretty useless info for most of the stuff that has released recently as far as I know.
