May I know which version of macOS you ran this on? macOS Sequoia negatively affected my Sabrent 2.5GbE adapter speeds - actually acknowledged by Sabrent with no resolution as yet - so am tempted to upgrade to a 5GbE adapter if this actually works on Sequoia.

Hi, I see you actively replying to other comments. Why are you unwilling to share which macOS you tested this on though? What's up with that?
@landpet3 ай бұрын
@@EdChan-uf3oc lol, I don't respond if I didn't get a chance to find the answer. Now that I've opened my laptop once again, I'm on macOS Sonoma Version 14.5 If you ask a question that I know the answer of, I typically respond. If it requires an answer that requires more research or something I need to search for to find the answer. I either don't respond or respond later as I'm doing now. Once in a while, I respond with a I don't know if it's a super specific question that I don't know the answer to.

@@landpet "Quality tech reviews" says your channel intro. Does quality mean not knowing which version of OSes you reviewed a product against? Does quality mean not even knowing if you've upgraded to a major OS release? Does quality mean spending 10 mins testing on a laptop which you don't use as a daily driver and have no easy access to really and properly appreciate any performance or stability issues that may arise beyond simple speed tests? Does quality mean even when informed of potential performance issues on Sequoia to not then retest it for an informative than snarky reply? What exactly is funny, lol? You will no doubt delete this comment, but I'll know never to trust your 'reviews'.

@@EdChan-uf3oc No reason for me to delete this comment. I appreciate the feedback. One thing just to help you understand my situation, I test so many devices that makes it difficult for me to remember some things. I have many laptops (many computers), many routers, many mesh systems, many scooters, many bikes and many other devices. I'm constantly testing various devices when you asked a specific question about the version of the OS. I could've just guessed what it was off memory but decided it would be more ideal to open the laptop and get the exact version instead. Keep in mind, I also get a ton of questions that I try my best to answer which all takes time from my very busy schedule. With Windows releasing major updates every X years, it's much easier for me to remember Win11. With MacOS, there's a new update every year or so and a name to go along with which makes it more tough to remember. I realize it may seem like these videos take 10 minutes to make but they actually take a lot longer. There's lots of stuff I do in the background that I prepare for before filming to make sure I try my best to understand the product before I make the video. I realize I'm not perfect but I'm constantly trying to improve. You're entitled to your opinion but from my perspective, I fully tested this device in just about every way imaginable both internet speed test, local speed test and a speed test between two different computers on two different operating systems and showed all that. For me to forget which OS version on my Mac until I open it up because I don't want to provide wrong information makes you think that I don't do quality reviews, then you are entitled to your opinion. Either way I appreciate your feedback.

I have played with the USB-C multi-gig network adapters and have noticed a common issue. On a Windows machine, the download is significantly lower than the upload. I have tested with different computers and duplicated the issue. I'm wondering if there is a setting that I'm missing that creates this bottleneck?
@iDaoliuheАй бұрын
Got same issue here. Download is only 26Mbps, upload is 4.6Gbps. I have followed the manual to set up.

Hi may i ask if wavlink using realtek controller or other brands? I have a usb to 2.5gbe rj45 Realtek dongle which is a crap and it does not get me more than 150M download and upload. I just wonder if you might know how to fix it, Thanks.
@dktol563 ай бұрын
You didn't say what OS you're using, but I'm guessing Windows 10 or 11. Make sure you get the correct driver for the specific Realtek chipset (RTL8125, RTL8125BG, ..). I've seen reports (and youtube videos) with substandard Windows performance (especiaslly 10) and the wrong driver tends to be the culprit. With Linux and a recent kernel, I see 2.2-2.3 Gb/s with a Realtek adapter plugged into a USB3.2 gen 1 5Gb/s port.

1 gig, 5 gig, and 10 gig speeds are hexadecimal. So, 5 gig won't actually show "5 gigabits". It will always measure lower on the speedtests.
@pokemaniatico132 ай бұрын
Hm no it won’t you might lose a bit less than 1, 5 o 10g due to packet overhead but that has nothing to do with hexadecimal, speeds are not “hexadecimal”.

i did buy this adapter couple days ago for my galaxy book4edge because i dont have thunderbolt port, but i found the IOCREST USB4 to 10GbE adapter in aliexpress for 109 euros, i ordered it but still waiting until 18-22oct, you should test it also maybe if you can get it sooner,.

I have both of these 2 adapters but the IOCREST one is effectively a Thunderbolt 3 (NVMe adapter) and not USB standard. So it will limit usage for some devices.
