Gevi actually did implement all your suggestions you made. Variable nozzle speeds and flow rates, temp now up to 99C, scale measures to 0.1g and much faster, saving profiles easier with a new button. Glad they had time and inclination to do them as now it is a great machine

That’s a shame. If you take the effort to send prototypes out and get feedback, then act on that feedback, surely a follow up video is a good news story. After this video I purchased the device I seriously love it . The settings are amazing , the grinder , the water flow , the speed the fact that I can store James Hoffmann V60 recipe and then my wife can use it With 3 big exceptions I really wish it had 1 an adapter so I can put my 58 porterfilter of my Gaggia Classic (maybe someone can make a 3D printed one?) because I hate to hover my hand under it when I am grinding for espresso 2) I can’t Belive it doesn’t have a timer .. I had to buy a sage precision brewer to start the first batch of coffee of the day 3) call me crazy but I love to have a heat plate to keep the coffee for the first 2 hours hot. I know it fucks up the tast if you leave it to long but I wish it had one like standard coffee makes do . My cheap BobHome v60 pour over machine has one ☝️ but it brews pretty badly
@AllysonGelnettMusic2 жыл бұрын
I'm debating this one versus a MocaMaster and the Ratio 8. Are you familiar with those and have you had any experience with it? I too love a hot plate, but i also have all the v60 devices and i just want something that's an automatic pour over for the days I don't have time to do a manual one. Curious on your thoughts after owning the GEVI now. Thanks!
@LacayoDe2 жыл бұрын
@@AllysonGelnettMusic mocha master avoid it doesn’t use a pump .. it uses a traditional method of the water boiling and reaching the top plus you have absolutely no control about temperature and speed . Ratio 8 is solid it uses a smart brewing algorithm to mimic hand-made pour over coffee. But very little customization as opposed to this . If you have have the budget the killer combo in my opinion is the Gevi 4 in 1 and the sage (or breville in USA ) precision coffee maker . But all coffee makers are way inferior to this Gevi because the 4 in 1 is more than just a normal machine it has the grinder that just for itself could cost 400-500& easily plus a magestic scale and the computer that can give you optimized pour over capabilities. I use the grinder in this machine to also pull espresso

I really am impressed! Even though the scale is a bit sub par in refresh rate and not a tenth of a gram accurate (which, generally would each be deal breakers on a coffee scale) the fact that you were able to calibrate with your Acaia and app indicates (at least to my satisfaction) that the machine is more accurate than the scale itself, which is really cool! So, in a very real sense, this machine is also a bean counter!

You nailed it Lance! The biggest problem with making various styles of coffee is the grinder. It’s just not as easy as moving the setting from espresso to pourover and back. Going back to your espresso setting never seems to be the precise setting again, requiring adjustment. I have a Decent Espresso machine and I can do do pourovers with their pourover portafilter, which is arguably more precise than this machine. The missing item in my current setup is a grinder with a pourover setting that works (so I can leave my grinder at its espresso setting). Pourover and French press don’t require the same precision in grind setting as espresso. My grinder is set for my favorite beans for use with my Decent and rarely gets moved. We use a cheap grinder for pourovers and French press, so I’d rather use this money for a better grinder. Then again, one could look at this machine as a grinder with a pourover feature, which sounds great. So, the big question is - how good is this grinder compared to, for example, a Niche or the new Eureka? I wonder if it is good enough for Gevi to offer the grinder only and remove the wet side of this machine? $300? $250?
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Sorry for delay in response. This is better than mignon or niche. 100% serious. Also, I would argue this makes better pourovers than the decent (which I havel. The rotating head is insane. Also, update, they took like all my critiques and implemented them. Now, there are four speeds for head rotation, temp goes to 210, ratios go to the tenth, and more.
@scottintexas3 жыл бұрын
@@LanceHedrick Great to hear they’re being so responsive to your suggestions! I understand the rotation, great idea to be able to modify that. If the grinder is that good, I hope they’ll make a standalone grinder w/ scale only. Then, they could also lower its height. I don’t have the space for this machine. PS - I got the Decent based on your recommendation and loving it. Thanks!

The decent is friggin incredible! Best espresso machine overall, imo. It's just so good. The pourover basket is a beast for doing small brews, for sure. But this bad boy, with the revolutions, very seriously imitates a kettle pour. It's quite impressive, especially coming from gevi

@@LanceHedrick yeh the value at this price seems great. Separates will be more expensive, some people just have a tendency to keep things like that - kinda like hifi gear. This machine is great. Personally though, I prefer the manual labour of making my cup of coffee - it's like driving a manual stick vs an automatic transmission. I think what's also missing in the whole coffee community is the lack of reproducibility in making a great cup of coffee. In the end of the day, it's not the gear, it's the barista. Manufacturers should work more closely with roasters to allow home baristas alike to re-produce consistent high quality espresso that is reproducible and consistent across its customer base and community.

The problem I had with my first unit was this: When attempting to brew a cup of coffee, the unit would either keep brewing until the coffee was undrinkable or it would not run long enough and the coffee produced was way too strong. I cleaned the unit as best I could but it did not help. Hej Lance ! Nice video again. How would you compare this with the decent espresso pour over? Pros cons?
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Completely different. The decent has a fixed basket for a shower head..this has a rotating shower. So, not really comparable. Decent is closer to a batch brew type mechanism whereas this is moreso an automated pourover!

кофемолка этой кофеварки лучше кофемолки дф64? Лучше ли она чем ручные Timemore X lite и 1zpresso zp6

You can't boil water & pump it out unless you want to spray boiling water all over the place. You have to be sub-boiling.
@LanceHedrick3 жыл бұрын
Yes I know that. I just mean to get it to boiling and then pump it through. The boiler may get it to boiling but as it moves through, it will undoubtedly lose heat. This is what I mean. Obviously boiling water would be odd coming out.
