The bows represent the times he’s tried. He begins his venture again in his life, finds her again, the sword is him trying to cut this cycle “continuum” out of his life and when it seems he is moving forward she finds a way to control him, or give in to her and he loses again, and the cycle continues over and over. Aka really toxic relationship but in that situation you can’t help but love that person no matter how hard you try to let go and try to move on in life.

It's about repeated failed attempts at winning a heart back. The ribbons represent those failed attempts. The different colours (opposite ends of the spectrum) represent their different desires, which is why he picks up the UV light (same colour as her) and goes towards her - reaching out. Each rejection kills him.

I think a lot of his songs that sound like he’s talking about someone else, and instead I think he’s actually talking about himself. Such as with DYWTYLM. I think that line “maybe you think you’d be better off that way” really sort of solidifies (to me) that he’s kind of discussing himself and his own inability to open up his heart to connection. Of course I could be wrong. But that’s just how it feels to me.

“I’m still full of the love you want.” I’m still generating for you, even though it’s not good for me. You is the keyword here. His love is meant to suit her. It’s not supposed to feed him. It’s toxic brain space. The video is a cycle repeating perpetually where he tries to break the cycle fight the demons or ghosts of his past to find a new way but each time he ends up losing out because he’s not focusing on the love HE WANTS. Because he in quiet, doesn’t think he deserves it.

To me, this video looks like it represents what's going on inside of him. The trees are covered in red and there are what could be red blood cells floating in the air. The girls are ready to do battle when he approaches and I feel like he's battling the feelings of a one sided toxic relationship. In the end, the feelings are too strong and he gets hurt again and again and the ribbons are the reminders of the scars he's received but he keeps going back to do battle with these feelings that are inside him hurting him again and again. That's just my interpretation. I love your reactions !😁

Definitely not an uplifting or positive vibe, song is about the desperation of trying over and over again with the same end result. Thats why we see him tying the bow on the tree at both the beginning and end, the proverbial cyclical cycle of hoping for the person to “come home” but the result being the sword being turned on yourself in the end and the cycle starting all over again.
