You know you can link a "sucker-upper" directly to a coloured input? That would remove the space needed for the silos at the end of the refineries. Efficiency at its finest ;)
@MrStoffzor5 жыл бұрын
And directly into combiners and crate makers as outputs from colored containers!
@Axristosgr5 жыл бұрын
Crate makers have an output delay of ~1second when they are connected to step conveyor because of its moving steps. That causes crate makers to produce 1 crate every ~4 seconds. But if you use an unload station then there is no delay and it produces a crate every 3 seconds. Using a claw track to drop it to a load station and from there to the conveyor belt ultimately reduces your production by 4/3 for each machine!
@olegtarasov91715 жыл бұрын
Man your videos are so nice! So to make things even more efficient: - You can connect sucker-upper and put-it-downer directly to colored connectors, bypassing the need of smelting output containers - You can feed combiners from colored connectors using small pipes the same way as you use those to output end product - Using boxing machines with step conveyors as an output results in an one second extra time for almost every box. Machine kinda stalls while waiting for the step to complete. If you output to an unloading station it becomes better. This is also true for your smelting system - without box maker it runs faster. - It would be better to make unloading stations bigger to have an extra storage space while the rocket is away. You also might consider using 2 claw tracks to feed a single rocket as a claw train spends at least 2 seconds per crate (1 sec pickup and 1 drop + movement) so their throughput is kinda limited and in this case strictly matches output speed of 2 boxing machines. While when working with trucks they can load up while truck is away and then only drop when truck arrives, this won't work with rockets as the rocket has much more space then claw train can have preloaded.

You can put even more buildings in the same space. At the output of the refiner, use 1 step conveyor and bend it to the left, then put an unloading conveyor at the end of that step conveyor and set it to destroy all crates. This is needed to prevent any filled container to leave your full crate on that conveyor and stop the whole thing. Then place a sucker-upper and a colored remote connector so it empties the crates at the output of the refiner (above the step conveyor). Between the output of the refiner and a wall, you need only 3 small tiles and you don't need circulating crates and no open spaces. At the input of the refiner, place 1 loading conveyor. Place 3 refiners next to eachother, each with only 1 loading conveyor at the input. Place a crate maker with one unloading conveyor between the loading conveyor of refiner 1 and 2 (or 2 and 3), place a tube connector at the side of the crate maker with a remote connector feeding it. Then place a clawtrack above the loading and unloading conveyors in a straight line and add 1 pickup spot (the output of the crate maker) and 3 drop off spots (the inputs of 3 refiners) and add 1 claw. That's it. And place the containers with their color somewhere in a corner, not connected to anything. And when minecart tracks enter the factory, just place a sucker upper and a remote connector, without a container attached to it. And I don't get why you add containers to the inputs of your combiners but you decide to use remote connectors at the outputs. Why not zigzag your combiners and use remote connectors for inputs and outputs? No containers needed throughout your factory, just 3 in a corner somewhere. Using the same space as your setup, you could place more than double the amount of combiners when you zigzag them and use remote connectors instead of containers. To feed your rockets, place 3 crate makers, each with only 1 unload conveyor in the center of a big tile so a clawtrack can exit the building in a straight way. Place a 3-tile loading conveyor outside that feeds in your rocket and place it in the center of those 3 crate makers. Make 3 very short clawtracks from each crate maker's output conveyor to an empty spot on the rocket's loading conveyor, all using only 1 claw. With 3 crate makers this way, it just under-feeds a rocket but using 4 crate makers produces too much and production will stall. So 3 is the best amount to feed a rocket.

@30:18 I had to redesign this. I was wondering how that was supposed to work... that explains it. Sometimes seeing it in operation shows if a little adjustment is needed. @32:22 You already have your answer Skye... in the time the 2nd rocket was gone, it loaded 45 onto Rocket 1. This did not include any production from the 2nd line. That would have had the pad full at 50 crates, backing up, and none loaded if you only had one. So, no, one rocket just wouldn't be enough. 28:30 containers on the incoming minecart side feeding into another container that goes nowhere, so that second container will end up with product that never goes out anywhere while the first keeps filling up. Mini factories receiving the ore converting to product closer to the mines, smaller factories receiving the product into combiners and out to rockets...

Let me blow your mind. I did the steel with 5 containers total! 2 intake, 1 refined iron , 1 refined coal and 1 steel output. The remote connectors have no need to conect to the containers so each combiner needs 2 input transfer tubes and 1 output and the connect one of each colour remote connector to each of those. The combiners become 5x7 but if you rotate 180 degrees and up one tile this can be 2 in 6x12. You need to remember the remote connectors are magic and must feed out of the bottom of the container so the 3 coloured containers just have to be in the same building. Tldr Feed 1 container of each product to be combined and choose colour, connect remote input to combiner (anyware in same buildin), output to remote, set container feeding output line to same colour as remot output!

Why not use 1 remote connector for feed 1, one for feed 2 and one for the result ? You don't need a whole bunch of storage tanks, as all connectors of the same color are connected to one another. That's what I do in any case. The output is in 2 stages, via a small storage tank (I want to see the queue without viewing into the factory. First stage is local output to the local tank. Second stage is a 'roundup' track, that collects all the locally stored stuff.

You can look at several ways I guess. But you say the crates are going in efficiently, but the timing is off. You can see the gaps between the boxes on the conveyor... 3, 4 and up to 5 spaces. The one bad thing about this game right now is the tax system. If I understood correctly from other players and youtubers, taxes go up everytime by 2% of your total profit since you started the game, which makes AFKing not viable (that is good) but also means that you need to be constantly expanding (also good, but the game even has other incentives for this, like the kg exported on a 3-month period). I noticed this because profiting was harder every month for me. Turns out, I play slow. I take my time to improve what I already have before expanding. Also, if you reach all goals, and you keep playing sandbox-like, you still have to make up for those increasing taxes. I guess it would be just not possible at one point. Very limiting....

Actually, as a Professional Process Consultant, emphasis in manufacturing, "rail" solution undermines throughput. Any solution that removes "rail" increases production aggregates. This "game" provides two material transport conventions. Rail and pipe. Rail requires three (3) interactions per connection. Pipe requires two (2) interactions per connection. Rail is static load distribution system, traditionally long delivery model. Pipe is dynamic load distribution system, traditionally short delivery model. Question: Why would a manufacturer use rail within manufacturing zone when pipe is the best practice choice? Look at your layout. Look at delays rail creates. Then, look at pipe system, "game mechanics", unrealistic "product push" (entry/exit). I see numerous bottlenecks in your layout, stifling pre- and post- manufacturing cycles.
