Lowering the S90 / V90 rear is super easy. There are two versions. The ones with the Nivomat Shocks have a weaker green leaf spring. Combine the green leaf spring with standard shocks and the rear drops.
@smiIingman2 жыл бұрын
I once considered buying one of these but the wagon version. And i gotta say, driving these feels nearly as good as a mk1 or mk2 V70 but they have the style of the old volvos which gives them a really good balance. Only downside is they *CHUG* gas like there's no tomorrow.

And I thought I was the only guy constantly daydreaming about beater Volvo's. I just stumbled upon your channel recently and it's amazing, thank you for making all this great content. I'm from the Northeastern United States. You should explore Volvo semi truck engines, they are just as fascinating.

Get some BMW manifolds on there, I believe it's M50 ones that match up, those plus a 2.5" exhaust will get you some power. 2.5 cams are more aggressive and are a straight swap I believe 👍

I had a 1996 960 2.5 and it had 90k miles on it, was in gunmetal grey with grey full leather interior with dark wood. Absolutely amazing car and was like a tank but got scrapped as I hit diesel spillage on a wet road so bang in to a barrier in 40mph/65-70 kph which ripped the front bumper off and all the lights. Proper luxury car and even though it had the small engine with 170 ho. It pulled like a train and was very tail happy with Pirelli p6 on the car.

Cool projects man, always liked the whiteblocks. Pumped to see you are getting back on the bikes too! Bikes and Volvos go together like redblocks and piston slap.
@rex_s802 жыл бұрын
There is a company in England that makes a coilover and depending on if the car has nevomats or not, you can leave the stock leaf in (nevomat leaf springs are much softer and can be used with the coilovers and still lower the car) or remove it and just use the coilovers. Just an FYI if you ever get one for fun.

these are damned awesome , too bad you didn't get them manual over there... I see it has the big factory stereo, since it has tweeters in the b-pillars. The wood grain shifter, rare-ish, the steeringwheel a bit rarer, alcantara interior... hella rare. just so you know

I know I shouldn't, but... The K-member is the same in both (the extra K-member brace from 960 fits the 940) so the front bushings, steering rods (with appropriate rod ends) and the 960 anti-roll bar should fit directly, also the struts and ball joints are the same. The biggest issue between 940 and upgraded 960/S90 front suspension according to my research is the trailing bush mounts where 940 takes the radius arms and 960 the trailing end of the A-arm. Don't know if the mounts are bolted or welded though, so that might or might not be a major obstacle.

I’ve had 2 960s both wagons. They all have factory LSDs I’m pretty sure. The whiteblock is the Swedish version of a 2jz (even used the same automatic AW30-40). They have a kit where you can put a CD009 in it.
@abemarkillie17422 жыл бұрын
Also in order to lower the back you have to completely remove the rear subframe and remove that mono leaf spring. The leaf spring is actually fiberglass, so in order to lower it you shave off a bit of of each side of the spring. I think like 1/2 an inch on each side would lower it a couple inches.
@oatmeal666662 жыл бұрын
i think for lowering it you would replace the shocks with adjustable coil-overs like you would on a corvette BUT im not an expert nor do i have any idea if coil-overs would fit with spaceing
@doctorstruts2 жыл бұрын
You can fit BMW coils to the front of those, and for the rear you can mout a coiloversetup! You can get a Manualswap for these and the 6's make good power with boost!
