In the mid seventies in Wyoming, I got directions that include " turn left at the swayed back horse" ! Got those directions again in the early eighties ! The dispatcher could not believe it when I said I had been there before ! In the early 90s another dispatcher said "Your not going to believe these directions". Another driver said "I've been there !". Prefer preservation like this !

Casey, Not many IHC lovers left. I have owned several. Best friend was a master mechanic for the factory. His wife still shows videos of vacations she filmed the speedo in excess of 100mph on the open roads. No factory hype in the history of IHC's, they earned it.

I just discovered this channel and while scrolling down all the video thumbnails this International caught my eye. 406 garage is like I died and went to heaven. My dad worked in International truck plants in Springfield, Ohio from 1956 - 1970. I was born in 1960 and the family got a new '66 Travelall, sold it to my uncle and bought a new '68 Travelall, then in '70 sold that Travelall to my godparents and bought a new crew cab IH pickup and put a camper on it. One of my best friends had a '71 pickup and my first daily driver was a '73 Travelall. I rode a lot of miles in those trucks and starting about a dozen years ago I started doing a little online research about IH truck models so while I'm no expert I'm well versed in them enough to recognize many of them, like that KB near the driveway when y'all were returning to the shop. This place is just fantastic and I wish I didn't live a continent away in Florida. This truck is perfect as is, still living its life with all its scars showing it has lived. Thanks for sharing.

I had a 1966 R-1200 4x4 "Corn binder" with overload air shocks and Cibe driving lights mounted above the cab. I bought it in 1980 for $800.00 and I drove it for ten years before I sold it because my family was moving across the state, and I needed the money. That "lumber wagon" would cruse down the highway at 75-80 mph with no problem and it ran smooth as a Caddy but, in the hills or backroads it was a rough as a buckboard, still it would climb a telephone pole if you wanted it to! Gas mileage was about 12mpg on the highway and, if I remember right, about 7mpg in four wheel drive...gas was a lot cheaper back then. I pulled the front bumper off and replaced it with a railroad tie, nobody wanted to try and cut me off at an intersection, or mess with that truck when it was moving in any way, just respect from other drivers! I sure had a lot of fun with that old truck and, I also used to cut a lot of firewood using it too. This video really brought back a lot of fond memories of those days and...I sure miss my "Ol' Binder!"

@@CaseyLaDelle preservation is awesome, and I had a 63 4 door International Harvester pickup all wheel drive the true four wheel drive vehicle. Had to sell it to the local scrap yard with 16 other vehicles I had sitting around. Only got 465 dollars for it I was in the hospital for almost a month so we needed money, and a few years later I could have sold each vehicle for 400 a piece, because China was wanting scrap so cars and trucks were selling like hotcakes so missed out on a good deal selling early, but it is what it is. Other I.H. was a 72 box pickup no box ,and I wish I said no to the family for selling the IH's kick myself for letting them go oh well. Thanks for sharing this video it brings back good memories of my banana truck, my I.H. !🙂

Absolutely no argument. A good clean refurbishment like this will catch the eye of appreciation so much more than a vehicle with a fancy paint job. And let's not forget the rims. Yup the right mag/ shiny wheel can make a build. Exactly the same applies here

I like the "preserved" rather than the restored. That being said, if I had my 48 M5 Studebaker set on an updated 4x4 chassis, I would prefer the finish to be flat, rather than shiny. I don't know if that is possible, but my truck was repainted sometime in the 60's and has a "flatt" look to it that I'm quite fond of. It also had the name of the business that bought the truck new, painted on the doors.

I bought my Dad a 69 International for Father's Day, the grocery store up the hill from my parents house the store Manager had the engine rebuilt after about a month it developed a miss, one of my classmates worked as a bagger I jokingly told him one day I would by that for Dad he inquired about it and the guy sold it to me for $150 this was 1983 my baby brother is a mechanic he looked at it and a lifter had dropped he fixed it. 304 and I think 2 barrell 4 speed with granny gear with air shocks on the rear. My brother in law painted it for him and he drove it for years. I don't know the model name but it was a long bed 1/2 ton

I love that old International! I own a '71 Chevy C10 (look at my profile pic) that still has mostly original paint with some patina and scratches. I've thought about painting it but most people tell me leave it as is so I will. I think that International looks better the way it is.
@markscott4159 Жыл бұрын
I know I'm late to this but if this were my truck the only things I would do beyond what was already done is fix the seat upholstery, maybe just a repair if possible and remove most of the surface rust of the underside of the roof and repaint it but maybe leave some spots unpainted to still show the patina, then clear coat everything so it still shows that history but prevents further degradation of the truck
