I have relatives or did in Tafter in the late 50s to at least the 70s. My one older cousin worked for Chevron, and would go out to check the wells. I think he went by Rotton Cotton for a CB handle, I haven't seen them in so long that I can't be sure of any names now. Other relatives of his and mine lived in Fellows. I think his name was Ronny, not sure though. If he is still alive he would be somewhere around 76 to 82 I think.

I wish I could say that about International light duty trucks. I've owned a Scout 800A and a Scout Terra, and both were way rusty. I loved the ingenuity of the engineers at IH. The 152 and 296cu/in 4 cylinder engines were derived from their V8, just that the one cylinder bank was sawed off. The light duty V8's, the 304, 345 and 392 all shared parts. The biggest negative with International was having to go to the dealership for parts and making sure you had the serial number and date of manufacture. Their configuration management people though were first class.

Beautiful recovery truck. It’s obvious that the previous owner loved it by the care he gave it.The colour of the Cat on camera looks almost the same as the truck. My first vehicle was a 1950’s L series 3/4 ton International. It had the weight reduction cab and box, with the mosquito fogger on the tailpipe.

Old Cat field guy here, that 3208 is one of my favorite Cat engines. The only reason that they don't still use them is that they can't pass emissions. They are bullet-proof! When it gets cold, they always start. They also sound really good. Another great engine is the 3406B. Great engine that you do NOT need a computer to work on.

My father bought a 1972 IH Travelall brand new from a local dealership. My dad is a machinist and I'm a diesel mechanic (years later). When I was still a kid my dad learned from a local farmer that because of the new emissions laws of the 70s you could get better hp from the 345 IH engine if you reset the valve timing one tooth off. I myself did this to a friend's IH pick-up with the same 345 in the early 80s. Everyone I ask about this thinks I'm wrong. A lot of people don't realize that the 345 is gear to gear timing and not a chain. Have you ever heard of this procedure. This is probably the 10th time I have posted this ? with not one response.

Love old International trucks, as a young kid our family had one, just a standard pickup but I have lots of fond memories of it. Funny story, riding shot gun you'd have to be careful when going around a corner, the passenger door would fly open if you didn't have a good hold on the handle. 🤣 Good times!!

The original owner had that repainted at least once in it's day. Not that that is taken away anything for it's value. It was a pampered vehicle all it's lifetime. Cool ride.

If you look at the top of the hood when they opened it, it was looking a bit worn/faded there as the primer was showing in places. Likely original, but well cared for and kept waxed, though things like the bed may have been resprayed a time or two to keep it protected.
