I want the Lara Croft I grew up with and loved. I want iconic moments, cheesy dialogue, exploration with legendary outfits, and a sense of adventure with style. A badass Lara who doesn’t care, who acts and gets things done-not a crybaby! I really miss that Lara. The reboots, if they didn’t carry the Tomb Raider title and stood as an entirely new IP, would’ve been fine. But slapping the Tomb Raider name on them doesn’t make sense. It’s crazy to call these reboots Tomb Raider. As a standalone title, it’s okay, but it’s not a Lara Croft game

I've not played Uncharted, but I've heard it was inspired by Tomb Raider. I have also heard that Tomb Raider 2013 was inspired by Uncharted. Likewise, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light seems to be inspired by other mobile games of the late 2010's. So, it appears to me that Crystal's developers are looking at the games that are currently popular at the moment and saying "I want to make a game like this. What property can we use?" Open World games are the rage at the moment, so we're getting an open world game with Lara Croft. But what the fans want, first and foremost, is a Tomb Raider adventure. Puzzles to solve. A mystery to unravel. And, at the heart of it, a smart character who can take care of herself.

uncharted is such a blast! you should absolutely give it a go! it scratches my tomb raider itch in ways the survivor trilogy just doesn't while holding its own. amy henning, creator of uncharted, wanted to work on tomb raider and would have been on the team for legend but kept getting rejected so she left and went to naughty dog. you can definitely see where tomb raider inspired her from set pieces to characters. i think of it as a love letter. on the flipside, you can see where the reboot ripped from uncharted down to lara's necklace. i don't find it nearly as endearing and just wish crystal dynamics stayed within legend's lore instead of scrapping it all.

It's kinda silly of that article to call 1-2-3 a beginning, middle and end, when they are fully standalone adventures, and then call 4-5-6 a mish-mash, when they are explicitly connected in their plot. Yes, AoD started a new (unfinished) trilogy, but it followed the events of 4 and 5. Perhaps it was written by someone who didn't play the games and just assumed from rumours. Also while an AoD continuation would be an amazing surprise, I feel like AoD fans would have sooo high expectations that we wouldn't be fully satisfied with anything - after all, we have had over 20 years of speculations, discussions, headcanons, fanfiction and also tons of the notes from the author that show the possibilities of the sequels. And not all the nots are compatible, so what if someone's favourite part didn't make it in? Or what if a part someone dislikes was made canon? As much as I'd like a satisfying AoD sequel, I can't imagine what it would have to be... Also yeah I hope the LAU trilogy gets remastered too. I don't think it needs it much visually, but a little bit of prettying up wouldn't hurt, and fixing some bugs would be nice, as well as making it more easily available for everyone. Oh, and hopefully making the Underworld DLCs finally officially available on all platforms!

What we don't want, is absolutely everything constantly exploding and collapsing. This is fine now and then as an intense section of one particular level, but it shouldn't be a constant feature everywhere we go. Having to consistently escape from an explosion and a crumbling floor doesn't give us time to scan our surroundings and calculate where we are going and how to get there, which is what Tomb Raider is all about.

I enjoyed the new trilogy, the games' however the playable character of those games is not Lara Croft. Different backstory, different looks and a different personality. As much as I enjoyed the survivor series of TR, I didn't get nowhere near as much enjoyment as I did playing the original series. I really feel they should go back to what TR used to be like; raiding tombs, exploring ancient civilizations, complex puzzles and an abundance of different creatures to face, both real and mythological. I mean, in the original games we fought creatures like Lions, Sharks, Yetis, Dinosaurs, Giant Shiva statues and a frickin Dragon...the survivor series has mostly mercenaries and the odd Jaguar or Wolf here and there. Then there's the iconic places we got to explore like St Francis Folly, Atlantis, Temple of Xian and The Lost Valley. I think most fans would agree on a new TR game but with a lot more elements from the original games.

TR started really suffering from bad decision making, starting with her never resolving origin story about being disowned by her family no matter how many times she saves the world, artificial difficulties, and a game 40 levels long ending with creators hating Lara enough to kill her instead of just splitting the game up in 2, giving themselves more time. Lara was given a choice, freedom but at the cost of her parents, or keeping them in her life but making herself miserable. She chose to be happy and they cut her off and disowned her. She's living her best life, going on adventures, robbing tombs, collecting ancient artifacts and becoming rich by writing books and journals based off of her adventures and selling them. I'm sure she rarely ever thinks of her parents anymore.

Everything Crystal Dynamics have produced after Underworld has been a dumpster fire to me so i don't have much hope for classic stuff to return ever. Crystal Dynamics have always hated classic lara and if you listen to their old interviews and dev commentary in TRA they keep bashing the classics every moment they get a chance. Then lately they've done alot of other questionable things like the horrible netflix show, disclaimer in the remaster trilogyy and comments about how they want to redefine tomb raider alongside the board game announcement to address the games "colonial past".

When I think of Lara, I also see the same Lara from Legend trilogy. She has those classic aspects of being a badass but also sassy, confident and also being the most advanced and prepared Lara with her equipment. This is what I want. I tried playing the first 2 survival trilogy games and I couldn't even finish them because of how boring I found them to be. I felt like I was constantly playing as a whiny girl who cries and screams and follows her daddy's footsteps all the time. I also felt like I was playing with some tribal character and not Lara since it took forever to wear those outfits.

All I want after these remasters are new games using the classic style of gameplay and level design and the same graphical style used in Tomb Raider 3 remastered. I honestly don't care about the survivor games (I hate them in fact) and the LAU trilogy while good in its own right is not what Tomb Raider is on its core (and I'm saying this as a person who grew up with the LAU trilogy at the same time as the classics so it's not nostalgia in my case). I just want these remasters to sell well, Tomb Raider needs to go to Aspyr already and Crystal Dynamics has to go after damaging the series as much as it did. I also hope for Syphon Filter 1, 2 and 3 remasters from them but that's my pie in the sky wish.

I want a LAU trilogy remaster with Underworld's DLCs, the resuming of the AOD trilogy, and then a proper sequel to Underworld, which would wrap up the story with the doppelganger. I desire more classic elements. The most relevant thing would be the fever dreamish nature of it, where dinosaurs in Peru or a random woman turning out to be a corporate, immortal CEO who experiments on humans are all traditional. Make Tomb Raider 3 the blueprint for future instalments, where nothing was rational, and was simply there since the developers found it cool. Diverse locations with unique color palets are a checklist item to be ticked off. A badass Lara with her dual pistols and classic outfit(s) As unpopular as it is, I rather adored Chronicles' format of disconnected adventures of Lara's. They can create instalments for all three timelines in this format in my opinion.

The first collection was great, and while the selection of games for the second is certainly more divisive, I hope it does well, and that they're able to fix up AoD into a much better game. Underworld requires a comprehensive overhaul, not just the addition of DLC. It needs new enemies, events, and an improved storyline overall. It would be wonderful if the developers took this approach. Interestingly, the Wii and DS versions seem to offer a deeper experience, despite being smaller games Concerning the character Legend, Lara's face appears distorted in the new generation version. This issue needs to be addressed. Ideally, her appearance should resemble the PS2 version, enhanced with realistic lighting and shadows similar to those in the PS3 version of Anniversary.

It's better to consider the survivor series and Crystal Dynamics generally as being a sort of spinoff/gaiden for the Tomb Raider series, they are basically a poor man's Uncharted and have nothing to do with the core Tomb Raider games

It's an interesting discussion to have. I for one love the exploration and puzzles, and I'd like something similar to the things done in the classic Tomb Raiders, specially TR1 and some parts of 3 and 4. And great challenges like in 2. If we get an open world, compartimentalization is something I'd like so that the spaces can be more complicated. Something like the lost city in Rise of The Tomb Raider, but with a twist I'd say, like St. Francis Folly, where it is hard to get confused. I think the platforming is something that should take some additional space. A modern example I can think of is "It takes two" or something similar to Crash Bandicoot. Finally, for the combat, I actually like the shooter aspect of it, however it needs to have real variety of weapons and situations for them to be used so it doesn't feel repetitive. Otherwise, something like Tomb Raider Legends is already pretty good.

The ending of Tomb Raider 2013 is akin to the "Becoming Bond" moment at the end of Casino Royale. We saw the arc, the protagonist is where they need to be, and it gets us so hyped! Now imagine the next movie, and 007 is back to where he started, and that's what Rise did. It retroactively takes the first game's cool growth, and turns it into a cheap tease. A lot of people were ok with the bow being Lara's main gameplay design philosophy. I was not. We've seen games use both mechanics, why couldn't they? Anyway. 4, 5 and AoD are the "weaker" classic games, so I'm curious to see if these remasters will do as well. At the time, the issue was the franchise had gotten stale, and fans were fatigued. But now, the nostalgia bump could go a long way for these. Kinda like how fans (including me) are really hungry for Resident Evil Code Veronica/RE0 remakes. The black sheeps of the franchise!

Uncharted series games are jokingly called 'Dude Raider' for a good reason. Either way - there is always a market and appeal of 'action-adventure' games. Just like there's an appeal for action-adventure movies and characters in Indiana Jones, Dune - Part 1 & 2, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and even Goonies. Though, both Lara Croft and Nathan Drake's kill count is ridiculous, at this point.

I remember the first time I saw the original Tomb Raider, and loved it. I must have finished it a dozen times, back then. I also liked the recent rebooted series, which were interesting. A step away from the essence of the original couple of games, but sure, they were decent enough. That said, I'd welcome a new game, with contemporary graphics - but based on the tombs and abandoned, unknown settings as seen in the earlier games - give me empty spaces and ruins to explore and overcome, not identikit bad guys to Rambo my way through.

I played the original Tomb Raider about 3 or 4 times on the Sega Saturn. Loved that game. The survival series are great as action pieces, but they are FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR from Tomb Raider games. They literally have ZERO real tomb explorations and/or raiding. Just linear paths with a story wrapped around it. And very much lacking on the animals and fictional creatures living in the tombs that made the original games fun. I never had the opportunity to play parts 2-6. After the original game, my next TR experiences were Legend, Underworld, Anniversary, and then the first two of the survival series. I'm more than thrilled and bought the remaster on day 1 just to experience a proper Tomb Raider game. And now playing 2 and 3 for the first time is simply me having brand new old school TR games!

I think im so hyped with the franchise right now. What id want is what Capcom did with Resident Evil and Devil May Cry. Let me explain: - Saber continues the AOD trilogy, cuz i like the idea of Lara beign a spoiled badass daredevil brat, then a good character with parental issues. LET HER BE MORE GRAY, thats what i mean (bitch Lara is a queen and a must) - Unify the survival character with the LAU charactarazation. Id say the story would be very hard to make it the same, but making her become the LAU one, but with a bow and arrow with her dual pistols is possible. She was in her late 20s in the Legend of Lara Croft, and then she became more of a veteran archeologist, more mature and alll, making her in her LAU phase something like 30-35ish (i dare even say 40, but people would still have some issues with her age). I didnt watch the Netflix show yet, but from the scenes i saw, it could very much work IMO (again, i didnt watcht it yet, so i may be wrong). - Let the LAU trilogy be, but with a new remastered with all the Xbox Exclusive DLCs from Underworld. I think her story there is finished so i find very hard to make a comeback without beign just a cashgrab without quality. But id love a remastered from the LAU trilogy again (im gay and Lara in this version makes me straight lmao). And it would give me a reason to try get platinum again for the Aniversary and Legend. Really hope we get something like this, cuz im pumped!!

Having these new Remasters so close now just feels unreal and I am so happy for them - especially The Angel of Darkness. In a recent interview with X-Box they again teased some people working on those Remasters that could be very surprising for us long time players (my guess that it will be people from our community again [Conrad Majewsk again clearly for models, maybe even Julian Guba for AoD since his AoD 1.5 version completely disappeared from KZbin], other people I could think of would be Raq, Nakamichi, reborninshadows, etc, those who know, know! ). I think we'll see lots of familiar faces in the credits and I cannot wait to see them. Everyone who was involved in the first Remasters, including fans who worked on it, did an outstanding job and I have no doubt they will do so again. Another positive aspect of this X-Box interview is that they even said that Remasters for LAU aren't off the table and if WE are loud enough, they could very well see the light of day. That would be of course another huge win for the Tomb Raider community since the LAU series is loved as well. Let's just assume here: they manage to fix all of AoD's problems (the horrible controls, the missing dual pistols, etc). If Underworld was remastered they could takle Underworld's problems as well (for me personally that was junky animations, even though they did motion capture on Underworld, some animations [climbing, swan dive] just looked as if half the animation or a few frames were missing, making them appear very choppy and after the very good movement in Legend and Anniversary just looked bad - another thing that really bugged me was Underworld's combat camera - it was low, it just felt off - oh and let's not forget the Toby cam while sprinting 😂). From what I've gathered, Aspyr at least, has the respect for the old Tomb Raider titles and their respective communities and wants to earn money off of those communities (let's be honest, they don't want to make us happy, they want our money - us being happy is just a positive side product and good publicity for them so win win I guess?) which is GOOD. Now only CD needs to get the stick out their *** and just acknowledge what old fans of the older games are craving: dual pistols, fluid movement, acrobatics, an option without constant hints, less talking, less whining, more well written punch lines for Lara, more badass Lara, TOMBS and less mommy and daddy issues (we'Ve had those in LAU and in the survivor trilogy, like come on man, she's had time since 2006, it's been 19 years, she should be over it as of now - i don't mind subtle hints and references here and there but give that woman her identity back ["I only play for sport"]). I am clearly thrilled to get my hands on IV-VI Remastered since The last Revelation was my personal entry to the series and AoD being one of my if not THE all time favourite of mine so I am very excited as to what they've cooked here. As for the future of Tomb Raider I am still concerned that it has been offly silent ever since the Unifiying the timelines thing, I'll just hope that CD finally gets their shit together and stop being petty and disrespectful towards the Classics and the team behind those games.

Firstly, I will defend the Survivor Trilogy to the death. I appreciate that the team got experimental for modern audiences at the time. Even so, I would like to see a new game that went back to the series' roots. What Aspyr are doing is interesting, but it seems redundant to me to port games from the 90s to modern consoles given the significant change in gaming over the years. Personally, I would've preferred a remake of Tomb Raider 2, but that's mostly because it's my favourite from the classics. Chronicles is the worst game in the series, so a completely new and original game set between Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 1 would be an interesting idea. Also, Angel of Darkness deserves a remake rather than a remaster and could start a potential trilogy that could bridge the gap between The Last Revelation and Legend. Missed opportunity

I am almost done with TR1 remastered and cant wait to play TR2 of which I have very fond memories as being the first TR game I ever played - be it not on my own computer but on my brother-in-law's fancy one. The LAU trilogy will always be my favorite TR games - Anniversary is the first TR game I played from start to finish - took me forever to figure it out but I loved playing it - loved the music, loved solving the riddles, loved Lara's look and character and also loved the atmosphere the developers managed to create for the game - especially the manor, which I think was superbly done. I also loved Legend and Underworld - but like a lot of other gamers I am weary of my old PS3 in terms of how long it is still going to function. Bought it second hand and it is now getting very old. If it decides to die on me then I would not be able to re-visit my beloved LAU games any more - so I would LOVE for the trilogy to become available on the PS4/PS5. If you like remastered Tomb Raider games good for you but after almost 30 years if i want to play Tomb Raider games once again im just gonna install original versions. I still have them and they work pretty well even on new hardware. At this point i would prefer something new over remaster. Had a lot of fun with survival trilogy so for me it was great. It wasnt original Tomb Raider but you can think of it as a prequel which works for me. There were some changes that shouldnt have happened but that could be sort of fixed in the next new game if done right. I do understand why people did not like it that much though.

I hated the reboot games, around that time there was a lot of games coming out with the stealth + bow and arrow gameplay, (don't ask me to name them I just remember that specifically OK?!) and that just burnt me out on that style of gameplay. Honestly tomb raider gameplay should have good puzzles for the og fans, gymnastics and rock climbing, (imagine bringing a pro rock climber to make the rock wall puzzles) and this is going to be really strange but DMC-esque combat, but a little more grounded. Like in the legend trilogy she was flipping all over the place and using enemies as spring boards, add things like martial arts mixed with gunplay and other flashy moves. Finally, no more aim assist since most people now are better gamers and to keep the pace of the combat a little bit more adrenaline pumping. Personality wise, I like classic psycho lara and legend indifferent lara, these 2 endgame laras are way better than 0 growth lara who was teased to become classic lara only to retire at the end of the game if i remember correctly. I was imagining fallout 4 with a dodge mod that had flips instead of side steps and all this other stuff but I don't know how to animate at all or code well unfortunately.

The reality is that we will probably get remasters of the old games so they can make money, and then they will use that money to fund a new game that is going to feel like an embarrassing after school special, with lots of moral scolding about colonialism. Lara will be less visually appealing, possibly even somewhat ugly, and she will be magically, inexplicably become a lesbian or come out as non-binary. You know, the important stuff we look for in an action-adventure game about exploring ancient ruins. I really, really hope I'm wrong, but with the way people in AAA space have seemingly been hired based solely on their burning desire to "own the chuds", I'm not holding my breath. And this is coming from someone enjoys the survivor trilogy. I'd love to see a real comeback, but I don't think it's in the cards. It's far more likely to veer into Dragon Age: Veilguard territory, and that will be the death knell for the franchise. We aren't out of the weeds in terms of publishers/developers simply burning money and burying popular franchises instead of giving fans what they actually want. Did you see the Netflix series? That's the direction they want to take it in. Lara Croft reimagined for "modern audiences". Buckle up.

I’ve never truthfully experienced Lara before. But i always felt off with the survivor games. From my knowledge of Lara (classic and Angelina) the more mature theme always sort of bothered me. Isn’t tomb raider supposed to be a rad and fun tomb raider franchise? Over the top action and characters, right? Idk. Becoming more like uncharted hurt the franchise for me, but hopefully the legends games help me enjoy them. (Edit: no genuine hate to the survivor games, I just recently downloaded them on my Xbox so I’ll try them eventually.)

I like all the TR games and I absolutely love Rise of The Tomb Raider whichever I've beaten 5 or 6 times. I've beat Shadow 3 or 4 times. I like TR 2013 the least with only two completions. But I will always love the original games with original Lara Croft the best. If I could choose the next game to either be a Survivor Lara game or a classic Lara game I would 1000% choose the latter.

They need to stop adding Trigger Warnings because they say that part of the game is offensive and doesnt follow their values. A game dev that remakes the games need to be a dev that love the original. Adding trigger warnings in the game does cause some people to not want to buy the game. If you really care about adding a trigger warning, add it to the store page for the game instead of the game itself.

The original Lara ls a true role model for girls. Beautiful, tough and just an all around fun personality. Modern Lara though? No way, shes whiney, boring and a wimp. Lara would never have been so beloved if the reboot Lara was the original one. One important thing about Lara is the reason she raids tombs. She doesn't do because "it's the right thing to do" or she needs money (shes a millionaire for crying out loud) She literally only does it because she thinks it's fun, but they keep trying to turn her into a super hero.

Chrystal Dynamics needs to get their paws off Lara Croft and give it to the fans who did the remasters. They jumped the shark in the reboot and the tv show especially. The first 2 games in the reboot were not bad, but they absolutely were not Lara Croft or Tomb Raider. If a character is already pre established, then hollywood and gaming companies need to learn that they do not need to make anything new out of them except new adventures. Id love to see a continuation of Lara and Kurtis. Not where they were trying to go with it.

all i want is tomb raider to be accurate to the source material i'm done with the fan fiction and everything else tat they want her to be. they haven't been true to the character since 2003 the soft reboot legends timeline was out of character and made her apart of her team but also changed elements of her backstage i was ok with that i was even ok with tomb raider underworld even though alot of ppl had problems with it. but once they hard reboot to a legacy character to somebody else's creation that's what i have a problem with. Tomb raider is core design's legacy and crystal has been fucking up this ip for so long that ppl grown used to it. that bow arrow bullshit will never be lara and i honestly wouldn't have a problem if they would rename those games survivor trilogy is fan fiction to it's core. i've been with tomb raider since tr3 and i have all the games, comics, official magazines, novels tie ins and movies. Simon west's tomb raider is the only accurate and faithful movie done in live action and Angelina Jolie had the essence of what made lara croft, loft croft she was true to the character in TR 1 & cradle of life. and honestly we should've had a trilogy. i love the over the top and campiness those movies we but that's how core tomb raider games was and the fact that core was involved with the movies solidify that fact. those games had charm it knew what it was and what story it was trying to tell. that reboot brought in new "fans" that didn't give a shit about it's lore and source material while glorify their fan fiction it divided the fandom. tomb raider should not have 3 timelines, lara croft should not be a cry baby it literally goes against toby gard's vision and everything else crystal dynamics has done that goes against what core design built on since the creation of tomb raider. what i want is remove the two timelines which were never canon in the first place and pay respect to the creators by continuing the original story and go back to the basics and give up the ip. give it to rebellion devs it's literally abunch of former core design team anyway while continuing to collab Aspyr so it'll be back to it's roots in every way. i'm just sick and tired of western studio's bastardization of this character and to this ip. that woke table tip game was the last straw for me on top of that trash amazon show.
