As someone who recently beat Toy Story 2, I never thought about the idea of having a Frogger like level with the traffic cone scene & having a Woody on Bullseye level a la Crash hog ride levels. Those are brilliant level ideas. Definitely agree with ya on the bosses/boss choices. My least favorite part of the game was the camera. Was one of the most jank cameras I've dealt with in a 3D Platformer/Collect-a-Thon

Another reason why Toy Story 4 shouldn't have existed is because there wasn't an innovative but flawed video game tie-in with it

Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue isn't exactly a groundbreaking platformer, but it's still a great one Back when I first played this game many years ago, I actually thought Zurg was the final boss, but never got to do so, because I was bad at games, so, I lacked the collectibles necessary. Years later, when I got another copy of the game, I got to fully experience the game for the first time, though, levels like Elevator Hop and Tarmac Trouble are some of the low points in the game for me, due to their uneven pacing. Regardless, it is a fantastic movie tie-in game, back when many licensed games were all over the place in terms of quality, and what really surprised me is that they have Toy Story 2 as part of the PlayStation Plus classics catalog for PlayStation 4 and 5, so, there's an easily accessible method of playing the game today, which is wonderful.

❤ *Toy Story 2* has always been a videogame that's stayed with me forever in my mind. It's so iconic that the level design is memorable at best. The levels that many find annoying may actually still be worthy of remembering for the simple fact that they were still memorable in design. It's by no means a perfect videogame & I actually had been working on a Fangame of this in the past. During my studying several years ago- I was working on a 3D redesign of this game that was going to be free. Now, the difference was that I wanted to make it my own design while borrowing ideas. I actually wanted to make levels that you had mentioned in this video. We reached 45% completion. It was working perfectly & we even improved the camera. While the slow animations with friction may not be present in the Fangame. It still looked very much like the original. We improved many features & tried to be creative with the platforming ideas. 45% into the project & we started working on a new & improved Construction Site. The level even had the same puzzles. The boss was on top of the construction site too. This is when we started to shift ideas & try to implement Toy Story 3 into the game. In the end... The project was left on hiatus & while everything still works fine. The later versions of the engine has caused some serious problems. We may never finish it but it was a fun project to work on. The team moved onto their own projects respectfully. My friend owns the engine file so they will be working on it whenever they choose to do so. I was just the ideas person while also programming some of the project. My level design ideas were implemented. However, the NPCs "Rex" was removed. They also changed the way the NPC system works & made it slightly more useful. Pizza Plenet tokens stayed the same but Buzz Lightyear had some new abilities. Overall, the project rests in the hands of my friend. I've not talked to them for several years now. I'm sure they will return someday to make it a reality. He was also responsible for working on another Fangame. It was a Fangame of Bugs Life. He wanted to make his own Bugs Life 2. Anyway, the project was too ambitious. I hope this gives people hope that we can still make Toy Story-like games.

This was one of my favorite platformers I played on my N64. I remember being so scared of facing the "Slime Time" boss, that I had my older sisters beat the boss for me. EDIT: 2:49 Admittedly, the soundtrack, when compared to the PS1 and PC versions, isn't that great, and there are some cut songs, like the Game Over theme. Still, I liked listening to some of the songs in the game. Funnily enough, the boss themes for "Bombs Away" and "Slime Time" were switched with each other.

I rented this game from Blockbuster as a kid, but it was the N64 version, and it's one of the games that requires a controller pak to save the game, which I didn't get until sometime after. I never got past the alleyway stage because that's about as far as I could go in one sitting. I compare this game to Battle for Bikini Bottom in that I think, despite some crap parts, it's a pretty solid platformer, but one that got a lot more clout than it may really deserve because it was a licensed title that doesn't suck which quite a few kids grew up playing. If you play them nowadays as an adult who never played them before, you'll probably ask yourself what the big deal was. Sure, they're not bad at all, but not the landmarks several people seem to claim.

It's hilarious reading the comments here and realising that we all had the same experience playing this game as kids. I can't really remember anything past Zurg so chances are I quit before beating him or just after beating him. I can vaguely remember fighting the Prospector so it's possible I finished the game. But it's evident how well I remember the earlier levels and stages of the game compared to the later stages. We all seem to have lost interest playing this game somewhere before the end. Yet we all look back on the first half of the game so fondly with our nostalgia lenses.
