I can't front, Gamestop came thru for me recently. I was on the verge of throwing away a copy of Shenmue for Dreamcast. I decided to just donate it to Gamestop instead. I was up front with the clerk and told him how disc 1 works up to a certain point, then cuts off. I wasn't sure if the other discs worked since I couldn't get far in the game, but they were all cleaned. Disc 1 cleaned at least twice. The clerk still took the game in and gave me $6.60 store credit. I was HELLA shocked, but grateful!!! 🙏

I literally just traded in a few games at GameStop the other day as I received a coupon for an extra 30% on trade ins as a pro member. Ended up getting $94 back so I say it’s worth it when you get coupons like that.

Back in the day I used to find games at family Dollar and other dollar stores and trade them in at GameStop for credit 😁 I always had a great experience with my GameStop since 2005

I took some stuff to GameStop recently and it wasn't terrible, but that's only because I had a 30% extra trade in credit coupon on my account. I was also mad because they tried to use my credit to sign up for a Pro account or whatever it is that they wanted me to get and made it look like I was getting it for "free" which I wasn't. That part was more of an employee/training problem more than anything, but still frustrating.

My recent experience with trading games into GameStop was that no matter what the game is worth, they will give you no more than half just like a pawn shop.

That penny shit the movie store did to you is EXACTLY why I stopped going to Game Stop. They tried that over here where I live and I packed all my shit and bounced. I mean at least offer a dollar for something you're gonna sell for $5.99. Even at $3 they'd triple their money. Very disrespectful. I just support my local retro game stores and Game Stop can sit on this 🖕🏼

That was Movie Trading Company. If a game trades in for a penny at GameStop, it means they don't take it.

@taxfactor Yup I saw that but just like the other dude you took my comment out of context. Gamestop tried to do to me what the Movie Trading Company did to him. Maybe it was a few pennies but regardless that's a slap in the face to turn around and sell it for $5.99 or sometimes more. They can't offer at least a dollar and instead literally loose change? I can't speak for the Gamestops who offer a penny because they don't take certain games but this was in Arizona and this was this year.

GameStop’s trade-in value isn’t great most of the time. But, I’ve found it really effective when I have a few games that are worth less than $10 and would be more of a pain to sell on eBay than they’re worth. That said, no, most of the time it’s not worth it

It's only worth it if you need money fast. Also it depends on the game. At best you can expect to get less than or equal to 25 percent of the value. I would have sold the sports game just to get rid of them.
