Calling it a "flop" is a massive reach. First of all, the number two spot is not BAD by any means, especially for a Transformers movie, which already suffers from franchise fatigue, thanks to the Michael Bay movies, especially the last two. Bumblebee and Rise Of The Beasts felt that same wrath! Second of all, less people go to the cinema altogether these days. You can't compare those numbers to 10 years ago. Thirdly, not everyone goes to see a movie at the same time, so judging a movie's overall success by the first weekend is dumb. Allow some time for word of mouth to do its work too. Fourthly, the marketing outside of the States has been SUPER WEAK (except in the UK). The movie doesn't even open in most European countries until the 10th/11th October. So let's see what the results are a month from now and THEN judge.

I feel like one factor people don’t take into account for box office is movie ticket prices. $15 per ticket is pretty steep. Maybe not for one person, but if you have a family of 4 with two kids. That’s almost $60 for one movie for a family. That doesn’t even include drinks or food. Especially when movie streaming is a cheaper alternative.

I'd been planning to go see the movie next week for my birthday, but when I looked up showtimes, my local theater chain had ZERO showings. Dropping the movie after only just one weak is not a good look. Likewise, when I went to see the movie yesterday, there was no signage left on display. Hopefully it makes more money with digital and physical release. Watched it in early screening, gonna watch it again in theaters before it goes out and try to invite/pay for relatives to see it. Def gonna buy the bluray and already have Paramount. IDK if the toys count but they ARE getting added to the collection. Gonna support this movie in every way possible cuz is peak TF and he best TF continuity so far. We need a trilogy, TFTwo would be Autobots defeating the Quintessons and prolly having a collab with the Decepticons, then having a time of peace and prosperity. TFThree should be that frail peace being shattered, Megs said he would "never trust a so call leader again", but I feel if Optimus brings propserity to all of Cybertron and being that the cons were exiled I don't see a reason why he wouldn't let it slide(mirroring the end of Netflix WFC). This could work if by the end of TFtwo; having the Quintesson issue gone, maybe not a war for Cybertron just from the get-go. But have either Soundwave become more devilish and incite Megs into further radicalization, or even have Unicron influence Megs and the cons thru the movie and end in a set-up for the 3rd one. We NEED this kind of TF content, no humans just bots but with content as great as TFOne IS.

You got people who aren't fans of certain franchises thinking everything is connected to everything since the mcu basically married the X-men and some separate Sony spiderman universes into the mcu to an extent. That causes people to assume any other franchise doing their own cinematic universe is doing the same thing as the mcu when the mcu is the only cinematic universe doing the multiverse concept as of now. I've even seen people asking if godzilla minus 1 was connected to the monster when minus 1 was first teased despite minus 1 was a painfully obvious Japanese film and the MV are painfully obviously American films. So even if Lorenzo made it clear everything after tlk was a reboot. You would still have people who aren't fans saying or assuming every movie not made by Michael Bay is still connected to his films

I don't want Transformers One to fail, it just was so awesome and epic too. This has the potential to become the Greatest Transformers movie series of all time. You can do some many ideas with different battles on Cybertron, introducing more characters we love and see which side that would join. I would love to see the Constructicons being Autobots before the were force to become evil or the same with the Combaticons been a Team of Heroic Autobots that Megatron turn evil too. So many ideas, so many characters, so much to love and want to see more in being a movie series we would love.

for the past few years it was impossible to make me feel sad for characters. After this movie, I felt like Pax. I just felt empty, like one half was missing. You don't just watch it or hear it. You feel it. That's the charm to it. For the sequel, all I hope is that they add the mighty devastator. I thought I heard a devastator reference, but it was just a sports bot saying the word "Devastating" lol, but it could be a reference to him, considering that devastate is such a specific word in the TF community. Also Ironhide started speaking and appearing since 4 years ago (Last appearance was Kingdom) And Jazz...well He hadn't appeared and spoke IN 9 DAMN YEARS!! (Last appearance was RID 2015) Also I really hope this movie can hold on. There is a secret power in that movie.

Hold on now it came out on Friday we can't say it's a bomb/flop for certain. Im hoping to primus it doesn't flop because it's the best transformers movie ever, even if it does flop it won't stop from being the best Transformers movie. Remember iron giant was considered a flop despite it being a beloved cult classic and Age of extinction made bank but end up being a bad movie (not to me of course)

I think it’s unhelpful to compare this movie to the live action ones. I don’t think people understand that animation is in a different ballpark, except for a few movies like Inside Out 2 and Frozen 2… It’s just not feasible to compare them. Live action is almost always going to rake in significantly more. If you compare TF1 to other animation hits within the last few years it compares much better. Still not great, but imo not a flop

people aren't talking about how this looks like a kids movie. I would have seen it day 1 with the knowledge I know now after spoiling the movie for myself but the trailers and art style just showed me it was a cringe kids movie and now I'm rushing to go see it in cinemas before it ends

The only thing sour about my theater viewing was the theater itself. It didn’t used to require the sheer volume of ads it does now just to see what I paid for. “10:00” showing and at 10:32 I was still sitting there watching constant ads for toys, pfizer, and Beetlejuice. 🤦‍♂️
