In my country, around 1% of people are vegan, yet many more people have a B12 deficiency. Same goes for iron, Vitamin D and Zinc. It's not just a vegan problem, it's about the way people eat. If you eat a balanced vegan diet, you only have to substitute B12. Then again, the animals get that as a substitute in their food as well. So you don't necessarily have to eat meat if you don't want to.
@hellojuneau89174 жыл бұрын
Yeah they inject B12 into meat products. B12 is basically bacteria and destroyed when processing animal foods so they inject the supplement.
@Stevo13614 жыл бұрын
isoll cg exactly. They compare the tylical western diet saying “look! Most people are vitamin d and b12 deficient and they only get b12 from supplementing animals anyway!” The key differences are that if an omnivore/flexitarian puts half the effort in their diet as any vegan does they will not need to supplement anything. Also, a vegan diet cannot supply sufficient b12 (even if they claim it is in a natural water supply) whereas a omnivore diet can suppy sufficient b12 if the meat is quality free range.

@@Stevo1361 Nah. I just study things properly instead of making lies to support an unhealthy diet. I like everything healthy. And I mean everything. I study different diets from the most recent years in order to figure out the controversy against certain diets. Turns out vegan diets and carnivores are the most unhealthy diets in existence. Both are harmful to the environment. Vegan, and carnivores diets = Unhealthy, harmful. Proper vegetarian, and omnivores diets = healthy, not harmful. There were tons of studies that were disproven through the recent years. People disproven a common popular study because they took out processed foods when it came to the vegan diet. But the meat diet wasnt measured or fixed properly. ((There are different kinds of meats, and preparations, and they didnt take that into account. Not to mention not all meats are processed meats.)) If you look at all the lies vegans will tell you theres scientists that disprove all "facts" of vegans. Organ meats are known to actually help your health than to actually harm it. Another issue with meat is when its cooked a certain way it can actually create a harmful substance to humans. It isnt the meat that's harmful... it's literally the way its cooked. That's like if vegans cooked their meal covered in protein oils. That's straight up unhealthy. That's why cooking it, choosing the meats, and studying it properly is important. And I think my name suits me. Rabbits really dont give a shit about other rabbits dying, or when animals are preyed upon. They dont even care about people, even when they try to help them. All they really care about is surviving and staying strong.. if they were carnivores they would eat meat without a second thought, but their digestive system wasnt built for that. Pigs on the other hand, have a higher intelligence that surpasses dogs, which means they probably have more compassion. . They probably care about their lives and other animals even when those animals dont give a fuck. So I would consider vegan kind to be best described as a bunch of pigs that predators prey upon. A wolf would love to chow down on a pig, and that pig would probably just want to be its friend, kinda like vegans and wildlife. Pigs are my least favorite animals. They are so stupid. I dont care how smart they are. They are just blind animals that dont understand life. www.google.com/search?q=lies+vegans&oq=&aqs=chrome.1.35i39l5.-1j0j7&client=ms-android-bell-ca&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnfRnIqgotuAhaM

The vegan risk of stroke is due to lack of B12. B12 is derived primarily from bacteria, not meat. That's an unfortunate thing. Most meat is factory farmed. The animals aren't fed a natural diet which would normally contain B12. They're fed the same kinds of grains and beans that a vegan would eat. Because of that, farmers supplement their livestock with B12. This supplement ends up in the meat. This is called fortification. The whole reason the meat contains B12 is because of human intervention (supplementation) just like Vitamin D fortified milk. So, in short, omnivores are unknowingly supplementing b12 through fortified foods. It's unfortunate that vegans are marginalized still, and as a result don't really have any fortified foods. So, we have to supplement or eat a vast array of foods that omnivores don't have to eat because of fortification and supplementation. This is one of the main arguments I get from people "well, if you have to supplement your diet with vitamins, then your diet is inferior." The fallacy here is... Most omnivores supplement, or at the very least consume fortified foods, which for all intents and purposes is the same thing as supplementation. If we're all supplementing, then can supplementing even be grounds to throw out the vegan diet? I mean, the human body adapted to needing B12 because of the B12 present in untreated water which we drank up until just 150 years ago or less. Everybody has to supplement or fortify. It's not a case of which diet is better, but a case of "our bodies became accustomed to this being present in our water, we now remove it from the water, so what are we going to do about it?" Shall we continue fortifying meat and eating meat to get our B12? A food product known to increase risk of cancer and heart disease? Or fortify vegan foods and eat those instead?

@Pro Gamer when you say ‘studies are just observational’, you do understand you’re dismissing the whole basis of science which is “just observational”. Also, I doubt keto is popular enough for people who have tried it to bother talking about it when they quit. Most people still don’t even know or care what it is. I would be extremely careful believing anything I read on Reddit over an observational study or scientific paper... Humans are omnivores. No matter your food plan, it is wise to ensure the right amount of calories on average, daily, and the right amount of minerals and vitamins. This can be done by weighing food and entering it in a calorie tracker like cronometer or myfitnesspal. Some vegans don't get enough calories when they start. Some don't eat enough of the more calorie dense foods like beans, potatoes, whole wheat bread, pasta, peas. Therefore, all vegans, especially when starting or changing their food a lot, can prevent big health issues by tracking calories to make sure one is getting enough calories. Also, some vegans can get weakness and malaise. Nutrients for good energy level are iron, iodine, and zinc, iodine and B12. Some people have low blood iron even if they eat enough in food, because there are other health issues. Vegans should be especially careful to take a B12 supplement. 500 mg weekly is more than enough. 1 pill each week. Put on calendar. Use a calorie tracker, and I use cronometer. I have to be real careful when I lose weight to get enough nutrients. I even take multivitamin during weight loss, and that's over now, so I will take the pills until they run out, every couple of days.

@@Butterfliesinmytum That could be true - it’s called “bioavailability”. For example, the difference in amount of iron you actually absorb in steak compared to spinach is drastic. You absorb about 1% of the iron found in spinach, thus is has an extremely low “bioavailability”. Steak, on the other hand, has extremely high bioavailability of iron because the body is able to absorb the majority of it. So I would think supplements can work the same way. Also, fat-soluble vitamins, D, E, K, and A, require you to eat a fat source with it to be absorbed.

As a vegetarian you still support the animal exploitation when using eggs & dairy. 1. Cows in the dairy industry, arguably, live more miserable lives than cows raised for meat. This is because they are exploited throughout their lives for their milk and then killed. Given that cows produce milk only when they’re pregnant, the process begins with forced artificial insemination of cows. Farmers insert their arms into the sexual orifice of cows and pump bull semen into them. This is a necessary step for milk production and occurs in small family farms all the way to factory farms. Once the cow gives birth, two things may happen. If the baby is male, he’s of no use for the farmers since he’ll never produce milk. Therefore, the baby is either killed at the farm, or sold to the veal industry for meat. If the baby is female, then she’ll endure the same future as her mother, going through several cycles of emotional and physical abuse. In both cases, the calves get taken away soon after birth, and mother cows tend to cry for days after their baby is stolen. After about two or three milking cycles, the cow’s milk production rate becomes unprofitable, so the cow is killed. At this stage, the cow is usually six years old. The natural lifespan of a cow is around twenty years. Key takeaways: - Dairy cows are forcibly impregnated and give birth for us to have milk. - Male calves are killed or sold for other uses-such as veal consumption-so we have milk. - Dairy cows are killed when their milk production no longer meets profitable requirements. - We can't have dairy products without the death and exploitation of peaceful, loving animals. 2. In the egg industry, only females are required since males cannot lay eggs. So at the hatcheries, male and female chicks are separated as they pass through a conveyor belt. Males are considered useless so they are either killed at the hatchery (either by being macerated alive, drowned or suffocated) or thrown into the bin alive. Females are painfully de-beaked and sent off to farms, where they will lay a painful 300+ eggs per year due to genetic manipulation (as opposed to a wild chicken’s 20 or so per year). This process happens on any farm, regardless of it being free-range, organic or whatever. After hens stop producing eggs at a profitable rate, they are sent to slaughter, which involves being thrown into an electric bath to be stunned, then hoisted up upside down and going along a conveyor belt to have their throats slit. Many chickens will remain fully conscious after their throats are slit and will be boiled alive in the de-feathering tank afterwards. Their slaughter happens at around two years of age. The natural lifespan of a chicken is eight years.

“Vegan and vegetarian diets are associated with increased risk for nutrients deficiency such as B12 ....primarily derived from animal meat.” Wrong! While a vegan diet is lacking in B12, a vegetarian diet is not. Milk, cheese, eggs are some of the best sources of B12. In fact, as the body ages it’s effectiveness to absorb B12 diminishes. However, B12 in dairy has been shown to have one of the highest bioavailabilities (better than synthetic or chemically derived B12 found in supplements). Saying all that, one should point out that although studies have shown a plant based diet is indeed associated with better heath overall (is that because Vegans generally prioritise health more like exercising often, take supplements, going to bed early, meditating, eating well, being good...etc. in comparison to say meat eaters ?), but the same studies also found that the most effective anti cancer diet profile was a vegetarian (and pescatarian) diet, possibly due to its high nutrient content like B12 and the presence of good microorganisms (found in cheese, yogurts, kefir). Dude, please get your facts right. Kids watch these videos when deciding on whether they should be vegan/vegetarian etc. These kind of points are hella important.

Whether people find the right reason or not in science where there is always conflicting studies and debates within scientific community, I can easily say one thing that vegan diet was not part of any tradition or culture for a reason. It will terribly fail. People may come out of factory farms for sake of environment and many minds will create many solutions for that. But veganism is a deficient diet for sure because we all know it lacks B12 but I am sure there is more. And deficiencies do not show up soon enough for all. If there are people who become vegan as they grow old eating meat all their lives or significant portion of their life, they might still thrive depending on their mind and body strength. But if a doctor who promotes the diet fails in his own health in future, it will turn out to be a disaster. I do not see vegan diet has a future. Yes plant based where people incorporate more of plants and less fatty foods such as meat or dairy and potentially meat eaters should avoid dairy products because two seem like a lethal combination will help people strive through in this world. Going excessively meat or dairy with the kind of sedentary life people lead today will be worse. In India dairy consumption reduced significantly due to adulteration. I know many people who lost taste for milk early on in life including my mother and myself and we have both suffered as vegetarians. Deficiencies do not just show up so quickly and veganism is a new path and only minority follows it plus many who did in west are not perfect vegans all their lives. MOST! Like I said today many Indians suffer from B12 deficiencies even on vegetarian diet because instead of drinking pure milk like our ancestors, they started enjoying junk and processed foods or started to cook in refined oils and eating highly refined grains. Even till date I can find some good number of life long vegetarians in India who did thrive well on vegetarian diet as they incorporated traditional wisdom, live outside city life, drink milk, eat Ghee and have their veggies and are healthy and fit. Therefore, vegan path not only went extreme, it also started to support FAKE products of Soy in name of Whole Foods which annoyed me the most. I have literally seen doctors who speak of whole foods promote frozen vegan pizza. They have nothing to do with improving lifestyle of people. Cancer is no where going away from this planet. There are vegetarians or vegans who can get cancer too. But yes the meat eaters will be hit hard because they are eating insanely not matching their lifestyle to their diet. I can say every single person vegan, vegetarian, meat eaters will all suffer till there is purity restored in environment, we can get our animals to eat what is pure and fresh and what is natural for them out in pastures or forests and avoid use of glyphosates and pesticides in our food. But today compared to our lifestyle meat eating is way more and if a vegetarian deficient on B12 can suffer nerve problems, then non vegetarian will also suffer from many problems. And supplements are not the way. I have taken B12 supplements a lot for last few years when I realized I needed them. It did not stop my nerve problems. However, dairy does help me so I take it. I avoid factory farms. But I know veganism is not a solution. Promoting more plant based with optimum amount of dairy or meat in a person's diet based on their lifestyle, age, and their condition is the key towards more sustainable diet which everyone will follow otherwise we will see many problems in future is my GUT feeling.

@hannayapelekai16287 ай бұрын
It doesn't make sense to compare animals to plants in that way. Plants don't have a central neural network. They can't feel pain, can't have thoughts or consciousness etc. Plants are alive, but they are not sentient. We can't hear them because there is nothing to hear. Let me put it this way: if you had to choose between killing an animal or a plant, which would you choose? I'm willing to bet that OF COURSE you would kill a plant. That is because plants don't have the same moral value as sentient beings. You could construct an ethical framework where that isn't the case, but it would be an extremely bizarre one, and one not shared by most people.

@@rosekiller123 Animals are not inherently kind. Livestock is passive, not kind. There are many cases of commonly eaten animals doing incredibly sadistic things to one another and other species. Most people agree that the meat market is filled with inhumane and unnecessary processes however that is not a basis for irrationally claiming that what is human nature (being capable of partaking in a omnivorous diet, even being able to consume almost entirely meat or plant matter), is cruel. Nature is not inherently cruel. It is infact a completely neutral yet ruthless entity. We do not argue the morality of nature because it lacks morality whatsoever. Despite this lack of morality sadistic actions are commonplace among many species. That is likely because of inherent social structures or evolutionary instincts to promote aggressiveness as a survival strategy rather than a conscious decision because animals for the most part lack consciousness.

It’s incredibly beneficial to be a vegan, or often vegan. It can be far more economical if you are willing to get into practice with it. It also does not harm the earth the way spilling blood and exposing the environment does when you use foods derived from animals. The other benefit is you don’t have to kill any creature much like yourself in some respects to live. No blood is spilled and taken from an animal or you to live. Babies become food for crocodiles, not for you, and even then, even Tigers know better than to do that. When I’m a vegan, I need less sleep, have a clearer mind, thicker nails and hair, less anxious and inflamed, headaches and belly aches are by far less intense, and my acne goes away, as well my body odor smells lighter.

The supplement aspect is the main barrier to entry for me to adopt a vegan diet. If my body needs certain nutrients and I have to supplement those, isn’t that unnatural? This is a philosophical dilemma for me at this point. Is it possible to be compassionate to animals and still consume them? Some people will believe it isn’t. @vegonstruct57863 жыл бұрын
Juicy Pears You don’t understand that farmers control the population of animals to meet the demand for meat by forcefully breeding them. Unnecessarily forcing another sentient being to die for your taste pleasure is pathetic and also horrible for your health and the environment.

I love this video so much!!! Everything you do is amazing! What is your opinion about supplementation? As a vegan, I have always been concerned about not getting enough nutrients. As I did not find a sustainable supplement brand for vegans I created my own, Terraseed. ;-) I would love to hear your opinion about supplementation! Thanks
@naturalviewevents2 жыл бұрын
the animals are supplemented with b12 anyway because it doesn't come from water/soil anymore so people are going to consume a supplement either way, wether it is coming from a supplemented animal or if you take it directly. Doesn't make a difference, only one involves sexual violation, suffering and slaughter. I'm not getting at you by the way haha, just trying to debunk this carnist argument.

@lindsayweathering3 жыл бұрын
But meat also needs to be supplemented with B12. Vit B12 does not come from plants or animals. So you’re supplementing either way...
@SamuPuuronen3 жыл бұрын
It is a common misconception that animals produce B12. In reality, it is bacteria found in animals, excrement, unwashed vegetables and dirty water that produces it. B12 is not exclusive to animal products. Having said this, in today’s world vegans must supplement B12 with an oral supplement or by eating fortified foods, but this doesn’t invalidate veganism. Stating that because we can’t get B12 naturally from plants implies a vegan diet is bad is a version of the logical fallacy called “appeal to nature“. Not only is it a fallacious argument, but most people that live in modern society supplement their diets in one way or another. Most of the bread, milk, morning cereals and fruit juices we buy are fortified with vitamins during manufacturing. Table salt often has iodine added, and tap water is fortified with fluoride in some places. All these things are fortified because the vast majority of people fail to get adequate nutrition without them. Even more interesting, a B12 supplement is injected into livestock before slaughter to keep their levels up due to the soil being too intensively used and lacking in certain nutrients. So the question becomes: would we rather take a B12 supplement and be vegan, or supplement animals with B12, and then kill them to obtain the same B12? The former choice is clearly more desirable.

Joie Lollis Things are always changing towards recent scientific studies. Not everything should stay stagnant. There’s so much to be known about nutrition and the way that foods influence our bodies. Take Canada’s Food Guide for example. It’s great that we are starting(starttttingg) to take some things into serious consideration about nutrition. Dairy is extremely inflammatory so I’m glad that isn’t on there anymore. Dairy has so many inflammatory proteins, horomones (occurring from the mother cow that had produced the milk for her calf. That’s why a calf can grow into a “300” pound cow) Meat is a whole other story for sure. In this day and age, we do not need to be consuming meat whatsoever. (Considering all of our healthier available cheap sources of whole foods complete proteins)
