Such beautiful footage of all these beautiful creatures. And the sunset was something else!

Thank you so much 😀 That sunset was worth the trip in itself!! Gorgeous spot when it's perfect conditions like that

Very enjoyable video, amazing that there are still so many migratory birds still hanging about. Such beautiful light there too.

Thank you so much 😊 It turned out to be a pretty quiet afternoon for birds. The Godwits were great so they were the stars! The tide was supposed to be really high but it didn't seem to move all that much (we think the sand bank must have shifted). We've been there when there's been way more migratory birds but, of course, it was late May. It was a fabulous sunset though!! And the conditions couldn't have been more enjoyable 😀 ~ Karen

I always learn something with each new video(NZ plovers)....thanks.....sunset image at the end marvilloso!

Thank you so much! The sunset that night was amazing! That photo at the end wasn't even altered in any way... that' is what it was like straight out of camera! It's quite funny... but I learn something new in each of our videos too! Nimal knows all this stuff about birds & everything but I have no idea until he starts talking to the camera. 😀 ~ Karen

This must've been a perfect weather day for hanging out on an isolated place for hours, watching restful birds. Good light, no wind to speak of and good company... doing some 70's disco moves (at least after some inspired edit-work)😀😃😄😁😆😂🤣 I'm wondering, what would those tiny Calidris-peeps be that I spied between Godwits and Plovers (seen well at 06:14)? I didn't comment directly bcs I have a tendency to prefer watching your video on my big screen TV, and while it's no problem leaving a like there, commenting is quite another thing. Good for you though, you get at least 2 watch-throughs from me👍

Thanks so much! 😊 @ 6:14 would be the Red-necked Stints. It was difficult to label the birds in this video as they were all bunched in together 😀

Thanks ❤ It was one of those perfect afternoons/evenings for birding. I couldn't resist making a disco birding section! 🤣 Our friend Tom is great at pointing out birds but when I sped it up, I couldn't stop laughing. Just had to put it to music! 😂

Beautiful shots. I never knew the effort that you guys would make to get up closer. Thanks for the education. Very patient people :) Guys your editing and filming is stunning, well done

Thanks so much! ❤ We often have to sit around patiently waiting for something to fly in 😀 Most of the time the locations are beautiful like this one (the odd occasion it's a dusty dirt road 🤣... not so fun!). Thanks for the compliments on the editing & filming!! Really appreciate that ❤

Great video, I must check that area out.

Thank you! 😀 It is a lovely spot but fragile. Perfect to visit on a calm day. Fortunately, most people that visit are very respectful of the vegetation & give the birds the space they need to roost. 🦅

Did you get a reading on the banded birds? (I saw a few godwits and a pelican with a band)
@naturephotographychallenge6 ай бұрын
Yes we noticed quite a number of birds were banded but we were way too far away to read the numbers. 🙂

Is it safe for a solo birder. I have only been once? When do the migratory birds return?
@naturephotographychallenge6 ай бұрын
Many men do go there alone but I wouldn't go without someone else. When the tide is high, the area is cut off until the tides starts to go out. It's not only bird watchers that go out there too, it's more known as a fishing spot & at low tide people take their dogs for walks along the beach as well. The carpark is also a bit dark & dodgy so being with others would be far more safe.😊 ~ Karen

@naturephotographychallenge thanks Karen. That why I found altona at sunrise much better as im near my car.
@naturephotographychallenge6 ай бұрын
@@loisr1560 agreed! 😊 Always best to stay safe. As for the best time to see migratory shorebirds there, I think it's more the warmer months. Nimal knows everything so I'll ask him to reply when he gets home. 😀
