I see medium as a way to get my writing chops up to par by writing articles and seeing how they play out. Ideally I would like to have a blog that makes a full-time income or make money writing for other people but my writing isn't that point. Basically, I wouldn't pay me to write so I can't expect someone else to pay me. I did have a profile on Fiverr and would only get sketchy offers from buyers whose profiles would disappear after a few hours. But one day I got a request to write 10 blog articles and had a mini-anxiety attack thinking that I suddenly had to actually write professionally.

I’m too discouraged to write on Medium since Tony took over and got rid of the distribution. Every one of my stories were distributed. Now… my views have literally sank to double digits. It’s very frustrating.

I am new to Medium and have also discovered that shorter articles are better than longer ones. Many short, is better than a few long and well-written articles. It's the same with Google and blogs. Short is good!

I had high hopes for Tony S. but he seems to be making the same mistakes as Ev did. But as you say it is great to have a place where you can write anything, get an audience, and get paid a few pennies as well, just don't quit the day job.

I suppose so, but I think you may be overestimating the amount of search traffic you can get from it and how much you can pull in from affiliate marketing there.

If I'm planning extremely detailed 1000-word articles with a lot of thought and insight (technical topics based on my many years of experience) -- the WP site is always something I want to avoid since it will sit there for 2 years getting 15 visitors per week, even with SEO. However, if Medium already has Google clout and connects your articles with others within the site, I'd seem to think it would get almost immediate search + internal traffic?

Someone said the articles you post on medium do not have to be original. In that case it’s definitely worth it if you’re paid some amount. If you can start a personal blog then you can post the same article in both places.

Hey, thanks for the question. Long story short ... it doesn't work after a certain point. I've been experimenting on that site for a year and half now and there are a handful of article types that work for me, but you can only publish so many of them before you: a) run out of top tier article ideas b) start to annoy people At this point, I think I can publish at most 4-5 top quality articles per week. Anything beyond that and the returns start diminishing fast. One way I'm adjusting for sure is to publish less and use that time to develop elsewhere, like on KZbin.

It's hard to say ... the RPM is still way worse than it used to be, but my views the last couple months have skyrocketed, so with double the views, I'm making as much as I did at the peak of the old partner program. Still figuring out if it's sustainable. Thanks for watching!
