@lampyrisnoctiluca9904 Жыл бұрын
I was told by my teacher I wasn't good at writing. It made me feel quite bad because of just how much I wanted to be a writer. Then, after months of self doubt, I realised something. The only thing making me bad was not parroting her opinion on the topic we were supposed to write about. That girl who was "the best writer in class" just happened to have the exact same opinion on everything as the teacher. I on the other hand, was a so called free thinker that would always have my own opinions about everything. I have eventually read the girl's writing. Her grammar, her spelling and all the other metrics of her writing beside that were well below the average. I was better in the third grade and we were in highschool. For the rest of the school I saw the girl as a cringe worthy sellout. Few years later, I realised that she was smart and had a talent to get under the other people skin. If I really wanted to be a writer, I needed to learn how to sellout. Sellouts are the only artists that are making it out in the real life. Selling out well really did make that girl a better writer than my combined high talent and secret hard work did. That was a hard pill to swallow. Even later I realised that all I've read online about writing by the actual writers, and all the lectures on creative writing I watched and taken better notes on than the actual schoolwork should have been combined with the marketing lessons by the people who are working in marketing. Now I am learning so much that it became overwhelming. I still feel like I don't know nowhere near enough. This book I am now writing is already better than my first two full length ones and I haven't even started the editing process yet. I already know it will be good enough for publishing after I polish everything. If I want to make it as a writer I must sellout well... I apologize for a long rant that probably doesn't interest you, I am often thinking in online comment form. I actually wanted to write something about the self-education being the best key to success in life, but I got carried away.
@brendalg48 ай бұрын
@@lampyrisnoctiluca9904the girl was not a better writer because she was a sellout. I'm glad that you noticed what was going on with the teacher. Have you published anything? I haven't... Unless you count letters to the editor.

@@brendalg4 Thanks. I have nothing published if you don't count the things I wrote on the two blogs that I used to have. I am now working on my book and my master thesis in the same time. Dan, its not ok to shit on jobs. The microphone you speak in, the internet you use to communicate, the KZbin you host on, the food you eat, the water that comes out your faucet and shower, the roads you drive on are all designed, built and maintained by hard working men. You are nothing without people that have jobs that form the backbone of society. There absolutely can be purpose, meaning and fullfilment in a job and you clearly see this in areas with high life expectancy and happiness. The key there is that a job is simply part of life - not life itself. They don't live to work, they work to live.

Balancing out the creative with knowledge of business, whether it comes from you or a spouse, is necessary to make money. Business thinking comes from a different part of the brain. You can get it through wisdom by the age of 40-50 if you’re patient, but taking classes accelerates it. Young creatives hate taking economics and business classes, learning sales is like venom in the veins. If you learn the human side of that stuff and even bring some creative to it, then it helps you see how the model needs to shift. It’s harder for introverts though. Networking is a must.

Yes audience building is the best ROI activity and it starts with consistently giving free value. Absolutely doesn't have to being with Twitter though and its not even necessarily the best. It's just that there are a lot of hacks to each platform and most people only ever learn one, which they then become overdependent on - and myopic toward the potential of other platforms. I started with FB and built 4.5M followers. As a writer. And you can leverage multiple other platforms to build your own robust subscriber base. I would correct the part about needing to be a writer, to needing to be a communicator (semantics). You are right in essence. Speech-to-text is getting really good and we are pretty much at the point where you no longer need to type anything, at all, ever.

I know most of what you mentioned in this video. I have heard multiple fast scaling Creators mention the Art of focus and writing on X and scaling. There is a reason Elon bought X. I won Creative Humor Writing Competition, 1st iPOD Touch in 2007. That is when I knew I earn huge in writing. But prior to that I have a history of Journaling and winning Arts competitions. Computer Engineering sharpened my brain. So I know the Brain Body Building concept too. The Distribution is the only part where I'm stuck now. But I will just focus on Writing Creative Educational Principle Personal and Pro Improvement posts on X and my LinkedIn. If any Creative & Fit Creators or Artists want to collaborate for Distribution from USA or Europe then please don't hesitate to reach out as I'm building a Design Community!

Hi there, your comment sparked my interest because you spoke about "sharpening your brain". How were you when you accomplish this? And do you think that journaling and learning challenging subjects like computer science can shrpen the brain of someone who's in their 30's? Also, is that writing competition still active? Congrats on your successes in writing and other creative works by the way. Thanks

@@krystalmarie5637 Well, by special Mercy of Allaah, I have been blessed to do several experiments as an 18-20 year old. I found the Purpose of Life by reading The Noble Qur'an, 51:56 verse to be exact. There is so much that you can learn and ask on this Channel of mine, SGDC!

I Have a friend. And today, I learnt that she was gonna get married. Yeah, I was happy for her indeed. But I got chills in my spine. This is why. She studied in the same college, I did, worked for 2 years and since she didn't earn enough to settle for herself, and THEN marry someone actually good for her, her family just made her marry some guy(which is a thing in Indian households). I am in my final year, and I already have 3 SDE job offers. But like you said, I wanna create something and Not have a mundane life in a corporate company, stay in the same place, fail to prove my worth become dependent and fall into the trap that my parents would probably create for me too. So, thanks for this video. It Really added value to my research.

Something about holding up a book called "The Art of Focus" but it's out of focus the whole time you're holding it just makes me giggle.
