When I first dreamt of sailing the world I imagined traveling to famous destinations. Hawaii, Tahiti, Sydney, the Galapagos. But now that we’ve been doing this for a while I’ve come to realize how much I love discovering the hidden little corners of the globe. The places that few have heard of and that you won’t find on anyone's bucket list.
This week we discover a quaint Greek fishing village, we swim in crystal clear water under massive cliffs ,we kayak to a Monastery built to protect seafarers, and our daughter learns how to fend off a WWII era amphibious assault. And until recently, we’d never heard of any of these places.
Now we are currently exploring the Greek island of Symi and our goal this season is to sail across the entire Mediterranean to Spain where we’ll fly home to the states to have our baby, because, you know, Desiree is pregnant. But first we’ve got to sail across the Aegean, a route which takes us against the prevailing winds for nearly 200NM. So as we wait for just the right weather window, we take the opportunity to head off the beaten path to get to know this extremely beautiful island.

Hey, been watching since the start. I've been working in the marine industry for well over a decade. Currently I work in Gibraltar at Sheppard's Chandlery and work with Global Satellite. If you need anything please feel free to get in touch. Unfortunately I don't have the money to be a patron, sorry, but if I can help in any other way just ask. And thanks for all the amazing content. Your truly on of the best sailing channels out there IMHO. ❤️❤️

You're videos are great. I started to compile my bucket list at 14 years of age after watching a documentary about the Amazon jungle. That was first, I added backpacking every country in South America and Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and seeing the famous and less famous sites and in 15 months did it all on a round the world backpacking trip. Outside of this I've been to many places in the US including Grand Canyon, Meteor Crater etc and many cities closer by in Europe, Türkiye and Russia, they weren't really on my bucket list but were still fantastic! Now living in Türkiye I have quite a lot on my new bucket list of discovering more amazing sites here. When I leave this life I can say that I experienced the world! Travel really changes your perspective and I don't mean package holiday travel. I recommend it to everyone while still young enough to be able to do it. I remember meeting an old lady at Machu Picchu, she waited all her life to see it but didn't have the physical capacity to explore it. This was very sad and illustrated to me that we shouldn't wait too long to work on our bucket lists.

Just amazing how Atticus has morphed into a precious family sailing channel. Love for spouse and child is wonderful and nice to see this in this world. Of course, we tune in for a myriad of reasons, one being our adopted boat girl child, Isa. She is such a cutie pie, and her ability to understand mom and dad only enhances the experience. See you next time. ✨🌊💨⛵️🏝️👙🌞✨

You opened with the expectations of famous places and the realization that the hidden gems were even more special. I'm just beginning my exploration of the world in my 70's. Galapagos holds the expectation of amazing nature but delivers an archipelago that is more populated than I expected with so many restrictions. While Isla del Cocos delivered the simplicity of mostly untouched nature and the San Blas Islands of Panama provided such beautiful and unspoiled experiences that I did not expect. The western coast of Mexico has some real treasures. I love the gems that have no hype but deliver real beauty. Thanks for that intro.

The pump is not a "diaphragm" pump. It's centrifugal and the correct type to have in the bilge as you do. Diaphragm pumps are for cleaner water supply that won't have debris in them. But glad you figured out you overtightened and got it working again.

Great video and message this week. I would have to agree with you… I had the opportunity to visit some bucket list places last month. Converted the second half of trip to more unknown remote places and had a much better time.

I spent a career in the USNavy exploring ports of call throughout the Meditterranean Sea and your videos just open the flood gates of my memories. I couldn't agree more, get off the beaten path and one will often times find amazing places and peoples. Great to catch up with the family, the pregnancy, your travel plans, Osso, Isabella etc etc. the bilge pump repair was interesting, hope it holds up as bilge pumps are kinda important. Thanks for sharing this episode guys, looking forward to the next one already. Be well, sail safe.
