@@frankr.7393 My German is not that good to reply in German. It seems that currently international law have distinction between "annexation" and "incorporation", and I misused the term "annexation". From legal point of view Federal Republic of Germany incorporated German Democratic Republic. But still some Polish-German dictionaries translate "inkorporacja" as "der Anschluss", but now I have some doubts if it if a proper translation. My mistake was that in Polish "aneksja" can mean both "annexation" and "incorporation". But the my main point still holds, there was no "unification" in terms of international law, because unification means that a new country is created (like 1871 unification of Germany).

It is worth noting that there can also be two genders of plural in Polish, masculine and non-masculine (note that it's not feminine plural specifically)... however all countries with plural gender are non-masculine even if they may appear masculine or if their closest singular iteration would be masculine... Germany (Niemcy) and USA (due to States - Stany - being the operative plural noun) but also Bahamas (Bahamy) or Philippines (Filipiny) or China (Chiny) or Italy (Włochy). There's also third singular gender - neuter (nijaki) - for example Barbados (also Barbados in Polish) Also also - most country names are feminine, especially European countries. Some say that it's been historically chosen that way intentionally to keep a gender balance in terms of country symbolism during times of mostly male-led governments and monarchies. Also default word for homeland in Polish is "fatherland", so the land of the fathers. I prefer to determine a country based on what they call one's homeland: Like the Netherlands has "Vaderland", the Fatherland (Though there is some symbolism which is feminine). Meanwhile Ireland as far as I known always discribed as a women, and I'm fairly sure it's the Motherland. There are also some gender neutral countries, things like those who use both, or "Ancestral land", or just plain "Homeland". And there's Orphan countries who are those with no data, or who do not fit with the above mentioned. I'm fairly sure this isn't accurate what so ever, and probably very incorrect. But it's fun, so I don't really care much!
