@@frankr.7393 My German is not that good to reply in German. It seems that currently international law have distinction between "annexation" and "incorporation", and I misused the term "annexation". From legal point of view Federal Republic of Germany incorporated German Democratic Republic. But still some Polish-German dictionaries translate "inkorporacja" as "der Anschluss", but now I have some doubts if it if a proper translation. My mistake was that in Polish "aneksja" can mean both "annexation" and "incorporation". But the my main point still holds, there was no "unification" in terms of international law, because unification means that a new country is created (like 1871 unification of Germany).

I prefer to determine a country based on what they call one's homeland: Like the Netherlands has "Vaderland", the Fatherland (Though there is some symbolism which is feminine). Meanwhile Ireland as far as I known always discribed as a women, and I'm fairly sure it's the Motherland. There are also some gender neutral countries, things like those who use both, or "Ancestral land", or just plain "Homeland". And there's Orphan countries who are those with no data, or who do not fit with the above mentioned. I'm fairly sure this isn't accurate what so ever, and probably very incorrect. But it's fun, so I don't really care much!
