I've carried for 30 years and it's unnatural for me to not have a gun on me or within easy reach at any time including at home. My EDC is a S&W Shield 45 or the Glock 19. For those rare time when I don't have a gun on me I usually have a .25ACP noise maker to make myself feel better.

Nice! I know what you mean about feeling unnatural if not carrying concealed. Glock 19 & 26 are my primaries, but living in Texas, my Ruger 380 pocket pistol is my savior when dressing down for the heat. Thanks for sharing Mr. Callahan!

Carrying you're EDC inside you're home if you're in for the night? That's a bit ridicules. I take off my wallet, cell phone, flooding knife and what ever else I have in my pockets. I like 90+ gun people have one or more heavier weapons with in easy reach to repel borders. My EDC does go into my night stand where I can put my hand on it. I can also roll over and put my hand on a loaded AR15. In my living room I can put my hand on my buck shot loaded Remington 870. Walking around my house with my EDC is a bit too much unless you're living in the Green Zone. Any time I'm going out of my house my EDC goes back where it belongs no exception. I carry a handgun only because carrying a long gun is not practical in contemporary society. There is a difference between prepared and paranoid. If you actually feel you're in that much jepordy where you live you should probably move. There are places that even the most demarcated of us can't carry. You're work place and most public arenas are two of them. Any place you're not licensed to do so but are compelled to go, uselessly because of work. In those cases you make the choice of employment or prison time or the unlikely chance of having to defend yourself. Even as a retired cop I wouldn't go NYC with my EDC. This law has never been challenged in any court yet and I'm not going to be the test it.
