If anyone knows about structural building, those houses that are being built on the Alabama Gulf Coast will not be able to stand hurricane force winds. Those anchor bolts should be able to give some ( able to move up or down) and need to be able to withstand static shocks.

Let not Forget one thing, these people are testing to build a better house, there updating the building standards for the insurance companies, so can charge you more on you home insurance

Greater Wind speeds need to be factored in to standard design. What costs more a completely new house after a storm or a couple of thousand dollars extra up front and a home that keeps you and those you love alive. And that assumes that you can still get insurance at all!

If 80% of damaged homes didn't have insurance coverage for their claims, then why is it are we told time and again that rates have, yet again, skyrocketed, due to so many claims in our area? What's more is that they say the same thing from one side of the state to the next. I'm sorry if I'm being dense, but it doesn't add up in my mind. Especially for the rate increases being as much as they are.
