Services like this are nothing new, this is a boomer take, it´s like he doesn´t even know what happened in the rest of the world in the last 20 years or so, and he´s got no excuse just because Australia is an Island... I downloaded tik tok when it first came out and ended up deleting it less than a week later. Within the first day I was spending upwards of 4-5+ hours on the app every day. On the worst day it was 8 hours. I quickly realized I’m not going to be able to limit myself so I cut it out completely. Soon after I found out about all of the security issues, I remember hearing that the app saves everything you write down even if you don’t post or send the message it just saved as you typed. All of that is fucking terrifying, I’ve tried explaining this to my brother and other friends and I always just get the same reaction. People seem to think it’s not a big deal to have your privacy completely intruded, to have everything about you copied down and saved forever. They seem to think since it happens to billions of people then their information will just get lost in the ocean of it all. They seem to forget the fact that if you ever upset the wrong person then they have all of that information on you to use against you in whatever way they want. It’s absurd how people are just fine with it

When TikTok first came out, I just thought of it as the more annoying version of Instagram. And then people became addicted and, looking in from the outside as I have been (I only use discord and twitter), it appeared that TikTok started becoming so ingrained in people's lives that they mentioned it in conversation at least three or four times a day. Lots of people around me talked frequently about the videos they were going to make, or the latest TikTok trend that no one remembers three days later. I found it so strange because I haven't seen the people around me becoming so obsessed about other apps. It was like some kind of dystopian mind control thing or something. It really creeps me out.

When TikTok first got popular, I was pressured by friends and classmates to get the app, but I never did. When the whole thing with Trump wanting to ban the app came around, I was all for it (that was the first and only time I've ever agreed with Trump). I've seen a few videos like this floating around and I can't tell you how good it feels to have never gotten sucked into TikTok; no one in my family has it either

Last week i overheard conversation of this father with his daughter and i was listening only because it caught my ear what he said initially (i know i'm bad) but he was stressing that she should stop wasting time on watching thousands random videos a day, that it is destroying her attention and she should use her time better like creating something. He was motivating her to write stories and poems so that she can find purpose in creation.

I would NEVER try to convince people that having them makes you any of those things, because quite frankly, it's a complete shitshow and some days I can't even function. Thank you for this video, Isaac, someone needs to speak up and say these things. I got addicted to TikTok during lockdown. @@gulaggreens296 When you have to work to make a living but can't because you can't reach the expectations of a normal functioning adult, it certainly does not feel like a superpower. It really depends how the autism affects each individual. I have no friends and that's exactly how I like it because I can't deal with people, which makes life difficult when I am forced to be social (amongst other sensory issues and general overwhelm). That's not to say you're wrong, but it really depends on the individual and how their autism manifests. It may not help that I am in my 30s and have only recently been diagnosed with both. I guess it's difficult to master something when you don't even know it exists.

As someone who has been diagnosed with autism and adhd at the age of 9. I see people faking it as a complete insult, until that point I'd pushed away all of my friends with my random outbursts of anger and the adults around me, even my own grandparents just thought I was a badly behaved child who's parents weren't disciplining correctly. The amount of pain and sadness I've had to go through because of them, my inability to fit in and make friends because I didn't understand social queues and couldn't read body language. My earlier life was absolute misery because I had something I have no control over and on tiktok there are people farming sympathy because of their self diagnosis. Sympathy, only for having the condition. Where's all that sympathy for the people who have suffered from it? Not only verbal, but physical too. I had to transfer schools twice because of how badly I was being bullied where at one point I'd be getting into fights every day just for being the 'weird' kid. Today I have much better control over myself and can somewhat read a social situation. I get that wasn't the point of the video but it struck a nerve when I remembered that people were still faking adhd for tiktok.

I, as one of the said targets for TikTok, have never installed it and have actually begun to remove social media from my life. I’ve removed KZbin from my phone so it doesn’t take up my time when I don’t need it to. If you have been considering doing something similar with another social media app I’d say go for it I have much more free, productive time than I’ve had in a long time. The small dope rush that you get from seeing something that you like or hate is not worth loosing the massive dope rush from working out of going out to see friends or even finishing homework or looking something up that your interested in or starting a new hobby. It’s all more worth it Atleast to me. To those of you willing to make the change I urge you to do so and fill the gap with lots of things that will build character and you as a person. Stay safe and live a better today for a great future.

Hey Isaac, I'm a Canadian living in China. I actually use douyin (pronounced "doe yeen") and although what you said isn't false, the vast majority of people using it is similar to how foreign countries outside China use it. (However, a little less sexually explicit). I've lived in China for quite a while now, and over these past 3 years, China has taken a nose dive in terms of perceived "freedom" and trust. Honestly, I've come to detest a lot of what China has become now, and things like the spying through tiktok and the social credit score sickens me to my core.. something that I've been seeing though is giving me a glimmer of hope for the people here, more protests have been happeninG and it's making me feel very proud for the Chinese people, however, they get squashed so easily by the government and police... I just hope that he people of China wake up and realise that this isn't a life that people were born into this world were meant to live, and I hope that everything gets better for everyone.

The Great Chinese Famine (Chinese: 三年大饥荒; lit. 'three years of great famine') was a period between 1959 and 1961 in the history of the People's Republic of China (PRC) characterized by widespread famine.[2][3][4][5][6] Some scholars have also included the years 1958 or 1962.[7][8][9][10] It is widely regarded as the deadliest famine and one of the greatest man-made disasters in human history, with an estimated death toll due to starvation that ranges in the tens of millions (15 to 55 million).[note 1] The most stricken provinces were Anhui (18% dead), Chongqing (15%), Sichuan (13%), Guizhou (11%) and Hunan (8%).[1]
@rdw20082 жыл бұрын
@@zyzzenjoyer7825 I've read somewhere in the past that individuals have gone to China and done some tallies to determine how many people died from the famine, and the number some were able to find were up to 70million people.. however it's quite impossible to determine the exact Number... Which is why the "official" number of people who perished during the famine is so broad. 15-55 is still insane... The saddest part is, people were so content with the overall progress of China since the cultural revolution had ended, that the older generation typically doesn't speak about the atrocities that happened in the past, a) because they are happy with China's progression and b) because they know that they'd be silenced anyways... So it's still common for many young people today to not know anything or very little about China's terrible history.... These recent lockdowns (to me anyways, since I've studied their history) seems like they are repeating history.. and like they say, if you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it...

I knew it only started happening once I started watching her videos, so I decided to stop watching them and after about 4 or so weeks, I stopped getting those ticks, havent had them since. So personal experience with this. I got to a point where the videos weren't doing it for me anymore and I would scroll and scroll but never get that dopamine rush. I would also get these random days where nothing mattered to me anymore. I lost interest in video games and hobbies, because I wasn't getting that instant gratification, but I chocked it up to depression as I have had a past with random depression episodes. But with this app and the lack of dopamine, these random events of feeling depressed got worse and worse and more frequent. Luckily, all that staring at my phone was also give me frequent headaches. Finally I couldn't take the headaches anymore and deleted the app, and I haven't touched it since. And low and behold but the random depression episodes have subsided and I'm finding enjoyment in things again. And now when I look back on this, addiction essentially, it all starts to make sense. I know this was long, but I just hope it'll help someone else who might be in the same trap as I was.
