I think it is an excellent idea putting a small block where an LS went. Small block Chevy is probably the world's most reliable engine of all time. I don't know what the emissions laws are in your area if there is any but would be really cool would be to build the living snot out of a small block and put the gnarliest cam in it You could find so it sounds like a race car.

You need a nice working space like that Ike! Buy that one or build a new garage with lifts. I can’t even tell you how nice it is to have a work space totally separate from storage. Nothing but tools are stored in the work garage. I got so sick of looking at projects while working on projects that I had to do something. I love how clutter free that garage is. Dude always did it right.

Interesting. I have one of these myself with a rod knock, going to see if i can shadetree rebuild and get away with polishing the crank. S10 swaps need the manifolds you are talking about, i know you already finished this, but they come from a 3rd gen F body iirc.

Because even if it doesn't affect them directly people feel it is their mission to complain about something they don't agree with. If I had the past professional experience of being a mechanic like Ike I would have also bought the Envoy just for the engine in it as well. The GMC Envoy is not a vehicle that is known for being great or problem free so it isn't really worth anything. But people will complain because they only see a perfectly usable vehicle being cut up. I see a fun project that no one else has bothered doing before. :)

Hey idea I do all the time find a busted lcd TV remove the lid screen panel under it is very bright leds... any who plug it in after u cut ribbons going to panel and fire it up and slid it under any car or suv for under glow light to top helps alot when a flash light dont do the job, id come help u because it's fun to me to do projects like this

That engine you put in the Envoy is either a 327, 307 or a 350. Look at the valve covers! And run the numbers

Why? The valve cover bolt patterns are the same on all the old small blocks. Either center bolt for the newer stuff or perimeter for the old stuff.

Considering that everything but the cigarette lighter goes through the computer on these vehicles, how are you going to run some of the non-engine-related things like the AC and speedometer? And don't forget the eternal check engine light that you will have to perform a bulbectomy on which is illegal in some states.

I think the reason that stuff fits so well is they kind of forgot to innovate and update, so, they've pretty much produced the same stuff for decades, just bolting newer stuff on like EGR, EFI, ECUs, Sensors etc., rather than just, y'know, making something new... :P

It fits because the envoy and trailblazers had the option of a 5.3 v8 so the engine bay was already setup to accommodate a small block v8

Always loved GM for that very reason. It makes parts cheap and plentiful compared to Ford which they change everything almost year to year

$200 scrap price?!? Ike, that's a Denali version of an Envoy, with the "fancy" trim and "fancy" Denali wheels. You should be able to get no less than $400 for the wheels alone. That's a $800 roller, easy. I'm still behind ya overall. But I really wish this wasn't a semi-rare version Envoy, that, on camera, looks pretty darn decent.

And besides, do you have an RCW for that? I tossed a 95 Status motor into an ‘01 PT Cruiser years back. Insurance company was none the wiser. Used 98 Neon camshafts and blocked off the EGR while I was at it. And removed the balance shafts. And deleted the cat and used a long tube header. That thing was a hoot to drive.

@@shawnsatterlee6035 Work as in there is enough bump in the firewall for it to fit. Large cap HEI is about twice the diameter of a points or vortec. I broke the cap & rotors on a few HEI distributors leaving it installed when putting in a motor.
