A mini high torque unit would've probably been the next option for starters. With some of them that are out there you can clock them in a bunch if different positions. It's been a while since I've had to replace a starter on a SBC, though.

Ike 9 years ago i lived in Arkansas worked at a auto electric shop and we rebuilt those delco 3510 starers for 58.50 plus tax of chorus. If you have trouble with the small delco do not i repeat do not beat on it it has magnets

You can pull those cv stub shafts out, these wheel bearings wont fall alart without them as the 2wd and 4wd use the same sets. Not many gm you can do this to.

isaac ,the 1991 rs camaro 5.7 starter is pretty small ,i ran into the same issue when i changed mine years ago ,the replacement starter was too big for the car, hope this helps ,happy trails .

Alot of times you can loosen bith starter bolts and then tighten the inside bolt first and it will most likely fix your starter noise...it doesn't sound bad enough to put a shim in it...iv done alot of them over the years and usually they will quiten down when you tighten the inside bolt fitst it will pull the starter more in position

The wonderful thing about the 4.3, it's basically a 5.7(350) with 2 cylinders cut off, most everything is interchangeable

I always drill out the restrictor in the fuel filler tube with a hole saw when I have to remove the tank. Much easier to use portable tanks without spillage.

Not sure which small block you used, but there is a bolt on the front side that just happens to line up with the actuator rod. If you pull that bolt and use one that is an inch longer while installing the pump it makes life a whole lot easier. Just don't forget to swap it back for the short one.
