It makes my blood boil to think that married male monarchs have ALWAYS been accepted, and sometimes even celebrated, for having mistresses and extramarital affairs. But when a married female monarch did the same, all hell broke loose. The double standards really annoy me.

People have claimed she had questionable morals because she had lovers, but there is nothing questionable to have extramarital partners when you are in an arranged marriage with someone you don't actually have a love relationship with. People who think that, must be either religious puritans, or they haven't thought things through, and assumed royalty in history married for love, and thus were actually cheating. She was in an arranged married, she and her husband did not actually have a realtionship. She was in her full right to have lovers. She was actually a moral role model, who refused to sacrifice her love life for an arranged marriage.
