i'm still rooting for her to win that oscar. emma stone was great in la la land but no one can convince me that she did better than huppert in Elle. Isabelle brought such caliber and masterful acting in that performance.

@@peterkelnerxd7009 It's true that foreign actors rarely win acting Oscars for non-English speaking roles. It has happened, though. We could point to Sophia Loren in 1961 and Marion Cotillard in 2008.

Lots of people wanted Isabelle to win the Oscar. Unfortunately: Hollywood = Hollywood. Its okay. The nomination itself meant something. She won loads of awards and she obviously enjoyed the process. No (real) harm was done. The combination of Isabelle Huppert & Paul Verhoeven (to me) = (still) Astounding. And it truly did create an extraordinary bit of cinema...
