I'm afraid I beg to differ and I say they finally got the marks they DIDN'T deserve!! I'm sorry, but with that so-called "Charleston" they did the previous year with one rule violation after another, and then that horrendous free dance, why do they deserve high marks?? They only won that bronze medal in 1989 because the World Championships were held in Paris. If they had been in Boston, Sofia, Manchester, Milan...anywhere other than France, they would not have won because Klára Engi & Atilla Toth (HUN) were robbed of the bronze medal they deserved. This was no masterpiece Samba routine to warrant any 6.0 scores. Their free dance this year was impressive and memorable, but then that truly awful sequel they performed in Munich was no gold medal performance. Their Original Dance was a copycat routine of some past performers (I can't remember who, but Robin Cousins' commentary went into great detail about this. And that free dance in those filthy costumes was nothing more than a "greatest hits" of their past tricks (Canadian commentary). But no matter because the home advantage seemed to evaporate by the time the 1992 Winter Olympics rolled around in Albertville. LOL!!

You pick holes with D&D's routines, but ignore the doping past of the couple who beat them at those Olympics. Says a lot.

Grishuk and Platov placed below this team at 1990 worlds. What a load of crap!
