Miss out is before Karnataka Sangitam sangitam was Chaturdandi-Ghana, Nyaya and Desi. Varali was one of Ghana ragams, ragam of suddha, pure svara empowering the nada emanating 'pranaanala'-nabhi; hrith; kanta; nasadya. Karnataka Sangitam replacing Chaturdandi, Varali attained Naya, with it's ground in Ghana. In contemporary times of collaborative music, color of Desi makes flashy appearance. To the sishya, learning of raga lakshana and lakshya of Ghana raga, Varali is through compositions-jeeva, nyasa and eduppu svarams-truly, 'Kana Kana Ruchira'. 🙏

Dr.Charulata Mani, I had listened to your earlier expositions of Ragas relating them to kritis including movie lyrics and finally giving a full song with accompaniment.The other day in connection with Vinayaka Chaturthi you spoke about Mooladhara Ganapati citing kritis on Ganapati composed by various vaggeyakaras in Sanskrit ,Telugu ,Tamil and Kannada ,ultimately crowning the narrative with a Thiruppugazh. I feel that you have done a wonderful research to sort out the kritis and analysing the content about the description of the Lord ,his qualities that appealed to the composers. REally it goes deep into the heart. Actually I searched for your videos in search of songs to listen for curing my sleeplessness. After listening them for half an hour before going to bed had given very nice results. My tension released and I got very good sleep. I don't know Telugu and Sanskrit, but music has no language. Your rendition and the presentation are very excellent. They penetrate into the deep heart and melt it. We feel that we are uniting with god.

I learnt from my Beloved late Mother , 2 slokas in Varaali, ' Vishwa amarendra padhavibhrama Dana Dasham ' in Kanakadhara stotram and ' Mrunali Mruthveenam ' of Soundarya Lahari. She insisted I must not raise any doubts with her being Varali. After listening to you, I am happy now I am chanting these slokas perfectly to her liking. God Bless You My Child.
