I don't claim to know why she was giving him up for adoption, quite sure there were many factors involved. But i would feel devastated if i knew that my mother had me and my twin brother but chose to give me away, i would never get over that frustration. But that was her and the fathers choice, there is no wrong and right in that but they were the only ones responsible for that.
@jamielee1007
@jamielee1007 6 жыл бұрын
they explained why he was given up for adoption in the documentary... when dan and his twin were born their parents were extremely poor. the father came home after work and found his pregnant wife collapsed on the floor unconscious. he took her to a hospital where she gave birth and then went in a coma. dan was very sickly when he was born (just look at the current the size difference between the identical twins) the father then had to make some hard choices; he had a very sick wife, newborn twins, one of whom was very sick, and he was poor. korea was also not nearly as wealthy and advanced as it is today so the resources and facilities available to help dan were limited. the father then made the decision to put dan up for adoption both because he hoped dan would receive better medical attention. the mother woke up from her coma and dan was already gone.

Yeah, it's official, my heart was just ripped out of my chest. I felt so sorry for his biological Mother because I feel they had no other choice but to give him up for adoption even though they didn't want to. However, if ever 2 people were meant to be parents, it was his adoptive Mother and Father. You can tell he had a great life and the love you can see in their eyes for him was just so special and real. The home video of when they took him home was what affected me the most.

in earlier parts of the documentary it was explained. bio parents were super poor, one day the father came home to find his wife unconsious after giving birth to twins 2 months premature. eventually one twin was healthy enough to leave the hospital but the other (dan) was still very sick. the choice was made to put dan up for adoption since the father had to care for a very sick wife and infant son and they were poor so they thought dan would get better care for his health problems and better opportunities with an adopted family. also you can tell that dan must have had a lot of health problems when he was a baby, since he and his brother are identical twins but have such a big height difference.

@jazzminb
@jazzminb 10 жыл бұрын
teensrox90 Yeah - it was something about his birth mother being very ill after giving birth and his birth father had to make the choice of giving one child up because they couldn't afford both. It wasn't until after the fact that his birth mother found out that one of her babies was put up for adoption. It seems like that was one of the most painful things in her life to have happened
@jazzminb

BDSandM Not only the separation but she didn't even get a say in the matter. I understand the birth dad had to make a hard choice - but even still it must have tore her apart. The blessing is she got to see her baby again and reconnect.

It's crazy that they're identical twins! They are are quite different in height and weight, not to mention their profoundly different physical features. Just shows how much the environment affects our lives.
@klee4klee
@klee4klee 5 жыл бұрын
Just one coincident. There are many cases where identical twins raised in two different environments, but they are almost identical. I truly believe it's up to some gene composition on how much each individual are affected by the environment. Each twin will be different. So this one incident won't conclude any result.

My mom was adopted, and hardly anyone on her biological side knew she even existed until she finally got all the information together to find her biological mom. It really is kinda cool having three grandmas (well, 2, dads mom past away). However, I dont feel part of any of my thre families. All I really have is mom, dad, and brother. I can feel Dan so much. I've always wanted to have another family to belong to. Congrats Dan! It's so beautiful seeing you and your twin becoming brothers, it really touched me.

I think this is the first episode where we actually see that this has truly had an impact on Dan. He was so stoic in all of the other episodes -- wanted facts, evidence -- it was all in his head. I think this is the first time he showed (probably unwittingly) in front of the camera that this experience actually moved him on a different level.

HUL! As a half Korean woman looking to adopt, this hit so many emotions for me. I feel the heart of each member of this triad and am so glad that you, Dan, have found an Asian community as well as two families that love you whole heartedly. My mom and I hold hands in public all the time, it was so sweet to her holding yours and your sister's! Happy one year anniversary of your publish date - that's Daebok!!

I absolutely loved this story. I cried so much, and we could see how hurt Dan's biological mom has been all these years apart from him, it shows in her eyes. And of course, how much she loves him. I am also really happy to see that even with all these sad things, Dan got a super family in America that raised him with a lot of love. It makes me feel really happy for him.
