Me too! I didn't hear anything like an explanation for why he would disregard all the information and evidence written in the rock record. I don't object to people believing things on faith, if that's what they want to do. The New Testament insists on faith according to its own words. I don't know who decided that part of the required faith would be that the Earth is just thousands of years old. That seems to me like a bad idea. Believe what you want, but understand that it is NOT the story told in the geologic record.

It behooves us to understand why some people, like your high school teacher, Andrew, get 'turned off' by Truth; when some look at the church and see what so many have no eyes to see; that the church (yes, YOUR denomination and MINE) are an emperor claiming to be clothed, while running around town naked as a pharisaical 'hippie'. The Bible; the Word; Jesus never fail but especially those who claim to represent Christ today - let us be humbled and admit that we are morally decrepit like everyone else.

@MendTheWorld5 ай бұрын
It IS strange... But I think you mean 1.8 billion years old, not million. 1.8 million years is "yesterday" on the geologic time scale. It falls within the Pleistocene.... the period of the current ongoing episode of glaciation, which involves multiple cycles of advance and retreat of continental glaciers, each cycle spanning 10s of thousands of years. You cannot understand the geologic history of the earth without understanding the geologic time scale. Earth's history is written into the rock record. It is a record of immensely greater detail and magnificence than ANYTHING written on paper. If you consider God to be the author of the geologic record, then you CANNOT fit this story into a span of just thousands of years. I'm sorry... but you make a mockery of God's creation (assuming you believe Earth to be God's creation) by misinterpreting the story of Earth's history written so magnificently into the rocks. The notion that the entire story took place in 6000 years is an absurdity. Keep your faith in God if it's important to you, but don't make a mockery of the story told in the rock record, which YOU have the capacity to discover by using your mind.

"Dripping sarcasm from those who do not believe that there is One who created. Proving Psalm 14:1. Your worldview is making you blind.... wake up, please." Psalm 14:1 King James Version (KJV) 14 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Thanks for pointing out some lies in the Bible. First of all, atheism is not an assertion that there is no God, but is rather a lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. Secondly, atheists are majorly over-represented among those of high intelligence and wisdom, including at Ivy League universities, so atheists are not typically fools. Thirdly, atheists make up only 0.1% of the American federal prison population, while the other 99.9% are theists, showing that the Bible is wrong yet again. Nothing in Psalm 14:1 is actually true. Notice how the Bible confuses foolishness for wisdom, and wisdom for foolishness.

Maybe if someone could provide a single example of observable evidence that verified Old Earth Evolutionism over Young Earth Creationism, there wouldn't be so many PhD scientists who believe such ideas. You see, they understand the scientific method well enough to realize the ONLY difference between the two worldviews is philosophical. It's not a difference in scientific validity. The reason why you don't realize this, Prof Phil Bell, is due to the fact you adhere to the self-refuting philosophy of Scientism without awareness of it. It's the same reason why you're so dogmatically opposed to Flat Earth despite your completely inability to scientifically disprove it. Science does not mean blind faith in the current consensus of academia like a religious text. That's Scientism. Science doesn't mean blind faith in Naturalism or any philosophy or body of information. Science is a METHOD of discovery requiring no faith... including no blind faith in academia (or Naturalism) You're likely the type who thinks peer-review is actually a step in the scientific method. You do, don't you? It's a common symptom of Scientism.

The Best Classical Music Hi, I'm a Christian as wel, what is your reason to believe the earth is old?
@thebestclassicalmusic6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim: Probably the strongest evidence is creation itself. For example light.
@berquintim6 жыл бұрын
You mean the age of the universe is determind by the speed of light?
@thebestclassicalmusic6 жыл бұрын
It is measured by it. Much like a tape measure uses inches to tell you how large a table is, light speed tells us how old the universe is.
@berquintim6 жыл бұрын
The Best Classical Music I'm not quite sure about that. According to the bible, and this is my personal opinion about it, so I don't know how strong my theory holds up, or if it even makes sense at all. Physics for light were different in the beginning. Because God Created light in an instant on the first day, it filled the complete universe at that moment, without light having a speed at all, and He made a distinction between light and darkness.so the first days and nights had nothing to do with the rotation of the earth or the sun. There were no stars at that time, those light sources came after the plants. Stars were added later and light got trapped in them so they became the source of light instead of God. We know light elektrons have a different behaviour when observed in the lab. So light is special and you can't put it in the uniformitarianism camp because of this. Light could have moved around the earth, because there was no sun. With lights weird behaviour, it's capable of doing such things. So on the 3rd day, light got trapped into the stars and they became the light sources, so light did not have to to travel at all to reach earth. This should be the moment where light became autonomous at it's speed got fixed.
