Filmed at the 2017 IGH Conference, you can get this lecture and over 70 more at: isgenesishisto... Dr. Austin is a field research geologist who has done research on six of the seven continents of the world. His research has taken him by helicopter into the crater on Mount St. Helens, by bush plane onto glaciers in Alaska, by raft through the Grand Canyon, on horseback into the high Sierra, by elevator into the world’s deepest coal mines, by SCUBA onto the Great Barrier Reef, by rail into Korean backcountry, by foot onto barren plateaus of southern Argentina, and by four-wheel drive into remote desert areas of Israel, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Austin received his PhD from Pennsylvania State University in sedimentary geology.
If you’ve not seen the documentary yet, here are ways to watch Is Genesis History featuring Andrew Snelling and 12 other scientists and scholars: isgenesishisto...

One needs to be aware of confirmation bia and cherry picking of data. There can be catastrophic events in the uniformitarian theory that does not disproven the theory. As for coal production, it doesn't happen quick and takes a very long time for the material to develop, over a geologic time frame. I just have one question for the professor, "what's your opinion on lead uranium age dating of zircons?".

As he said , he was one of the scientists who researched Mt. St. Helen's. You probably haven't heard that this event in 1980 proved how wildly inaccurate radio carbon dating truly is. The basalt that was formed from that eruption tested under that method came back as millions of years old...clearly wrong. There has been numerous other tests, even with animals that are still living and it shows them to be thousands and sometimes 10s of thousands of years old...again clearly wrong. The Bible is the truth, the burden is on you to either read it and understand you've been lied to, or continue believing the lie. If your so certain your correct, you should have no problem reading it and publishing every lie you find. God Bless

If it is hydrogen and helium, how come it emits blackbody radiation? Why is it so dense, heavier than the liquid water? How come, if the core temperature and pressure is exceeding those of hydrogen bomb, it did not implode away right after it "ignited"? Thanks so much for the video Dr. Steve. We share some interesting history. I got interested in rocks as a pre-K again as a 3rd grader, became interested in Velikovsky's catastrophism and halfway through my math degree added a BS in a Geology & Geophysics. Evolution was not part of the degree program. I did do a stratigraphy assignment on plate tectonics in the mid 70s and discovered how Wegner was shunned. That stuck with me. The more I looked at geologic formations the more convinced I was that uniformitarianism had to give way to catastrophism to explain the rock records. After graduation, I joined an oil & gas exploration company; they had us continue reading technical and trade magazines. I'd observe that depleted fields all over the globe were filling back up from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico. And that there were not enough dinos to die to produce production and what was not left in the ground. And with the gas giant planets having so much methane with no dinosaurs to produce it, there had to be other sources.Combined with a love for Christ and willingness to let him unpack the geologic record, it became obvious that many hydrocarbons were part of God's creation with Walt Brown suggesting it was part of the shock absorbing system of the earth. Did a carbonate school with one of the world's top experts to find that 20 ft of carbonate sands that supposedly took thousands of years to produce, could be dated by the Pepsi Cola bottle tops found in the layers. While in that career, found a lot of O & G, but was best at saving companies millions on bad deals. The Lord was very good to direct my paths in geophysics, too. Keep doing great work brother.

Obviously and demonstrably so. Yet Christians keep making these "predictions".....and other Christians keep believing them. Despite any such predictions flying in the face of what the Bible has to say about the Second Coming, and despite EVERYBODY making such predictions having been wrong, some Christians simply cannot keep their arrogance and feelings of self importance in check. The creator of the universe not only listens to them and cares about them, but he simply has to come back to save THEM in their particular tiny minute window of existence. Not before.....not after....but right now.....for ME. The arrogance is staggering.

Disappointing to see a professor of geology as a creationist. I too have a PhD in geology. It’s either lying or a misunderstanding but for some reason creationists think geologists assume EVERY bed layer takes millions of years to form. It’s not true. We know some kind of sediments can be laid down very fast, like in a flood, or a turbidity current, eruption etc. that’s how you get polystrat trees etc. But some do take thousands of years for millimeters of progress. Silt layers at the bottom of oceans or lakes, karst formation, chalk layers etc. Notice it’s the grain size, you need lots of energy to deposit a boulder, but low energy to deposit a clay particle. All stokes settling law determined by experiment and observation.

I would appreciate more data concerning the theory of Pangia. I have heard all my life about continental drift, now in geology, I hear of tectonic drift. Are both of these terms independent of each other is it more proper to coin continental drift as tectonic drift, OR is there drift from both? from the surface (above water), the continents seem to fit together. Not so much below the surface though. If continental drift is replaced with tectonic movement, then Pangea becomes more of a myth and a wish, than reality. Genesis 10 is the go-to passage for the hopeful of a supercontinent, but the narrative does not give any leeway for this. The dispersion is all human.
@Madrock7777
@Madrock7777 5 жыл бұрын
The continents sit on what are called tectonic plates, these plates are always moving. Some are subtracting under others, meaning they are being pull/pushed under the others. They are large hunks of earth's crust. Every Earthquake, Volcano is caused by these plates moving. As time goes on and the plates push against each other pressure builds, plates don't really want to go under each other and their is friction. At a point the plates cannot be held back by the friction alone and the plates slip, when that happens the plates move much faster than they normally do, and everything on top of them moves, aka the continents . That slip causes the whole plate to vibrate, that causes earth quakes, and tsunamis. As the plates are rubbing against each other they also produce a lot of heat, this heat melts the rocks and turns them into magma, enough of that builds and a Volcano starts to build as all that magma slowly rises to the surface. Now as for the tectonic drift, and continental drift it kind of is the same thing. Since the continents sit on top of the tectonic plates. As those plates are pushed under others, or pushed back up they move the continents that sit on them, it's really the continents are just part of the tectonic plates that is sticking out of the water. The theory goes that those plates were at a point some time ago that all of the continents we have today were one, as the tectonic plates moved so did their continents.

Yeah, it really stopped the science of that Christian Louis Pasteur when he proved that life could not begin by spontaneous generation.

First there was four people - Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel. Cain then kills Abel which leaves three people alive on the earth. Are we correct so far? After God curses Cain for killing his brother, Cain wanders off to the land of Nod and meets, or has sex with his wife and builds a city. Still ok? Now remember that God or Moses is the narrator of this story and God cannot make a mistake and Moses is His Prophet so Moses can't make a mistake either. Now between the lines that say Cain kills Abel, and Cain wanders off to the land of Nod to meet his wife and have some sex, some pages must be missing - or God or Moses had a senior moment. In any case, I know why God/Moses named the city "Nod". Because that is what happens to some people that read this story. What is truly challenging to the cognitive process is the excuses that Christian apologists offer to keep it sacred, such as "there are things to consider", or "its allegorical in nature",or "the people in that story lived for hundreds of years". However, the truth is much simpler. Genesis is an example of what happens when human primates living in the Bronze Age tried to make sense of a complex process for which they were not prepared. Their only option was to make up a story, and the best story was written as sacred scripture and passed on to children as truth. Fortunately, in my case, Genesis is not truth

+James Richard Wiley -- The book of Genesis does not always list things in strict chronological order. It often highlights a main point of interest and later fills in the details. Genesis 5:4 says, The days of Adam after he father Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters. The scripture doesn't say what year it was when Cain took a wife. The only available women were sisters or nieces. He must have chosen from one of those when the time was right. There's nothing in scripture that contradicts that. In fact when you understand the writing style of Biblical authors then Genesis makes sense. And it is absolutely the truth.

Sooooooo,... you did not identify the fact that The Bible is not written by God but by (silly) old men that didn’t understand Earth’s position in the Solar System?
