Both science and religion twist and manipulate the narrative to suit a purpose of their own wanting. I have found that you take a little from both sides. And you are closer to truth than standing on one side or the other. There is so many mistakes in the translation that Jews had a day of mourning upon the writing of the scriptures by western historians. Hey- exodus. Thanks guys. Even now this earth is still recovering from what took place in Noah's Day. Then we read what the world was doing just a few generations after the flood when those who lived through it (Noah's sons) still living eyewitnesses. People still mocked GOD'S judgement on this earth in Noah's Day & gathered together to make a great name for themselves, only to be scattered when GOD came down & confused their languages. It should be no surprise that today the world still mocks God's Word when it comes to creation, the flood & Jesus's return & hate those of us who believe HIS HOLY WORD, Just as Jesus said they would because they (this world) hated HIM first.

So if you believe in the big flood that lasted a year: 1) what did the vegetarian animals from the ark survive on since all vegetation would have been destroyed? 2) What did carnivorous animals survive on since any animal they ate would mean the extinction of that species since there were only 2 of each kind, 3) how did animals like South American sloths and Australian Koalas make it to the ark, 4) How did the animals make it back to their homelands after the flood since Uber wasn't around back then and - if it was - the cost would be astronomical!? There is a reason why these years were plucked out, It was down to Rabbis wanting to show that Melchizedek was actually Shem - therefore Jesus could not be the "priest in the order of Melchizedek" and Abraham actually met up with Shem. Unfortunately the rabbis do not have any problems with distorting the Torah, even denying many messianic passages which they previously held before Christianity became dominant; such as the "suffering servant" songs in Isaiah.

I've come to regard that "offset" as strong proof of a young earth. Radiocarbon dating *assumes* the earth is old enough that the C14 in the atmosphere is in equilibrium. But if it's less than 10K years old, then it's _still_ not in equilibrium even today. Therefore the dates are erroneously older and older the farther back you go.
@rossland254
@rossland254 Жыл бұрын
it's been demonstrated that the earth magnetic field has been weakening. This means that in the past there was less c14 in the atmosphere because the earth magnetic field was shielding more solar particles which are the cause of the formation of c14. Nowadays the magnetic field is less strong so more c14 is formed. one of the assumption of c14 dating is that c14 is stable around the globe over the centuries, but it's not!

@@lisagrace6471 If the earth is billions of years old, as the radiocarbon daters _assume,_ then there's no question that the atmosphere has been in C14 equilibrium for eons. That is, each hour, each day and each year, the total number of new C14 atoms being created in the atmosphere (by nitrogen irradiated) is equal to the number being removed (by decay or consumption by plants). Equilibrium. But if the earth was created less than 10,000 years old, the atmosphere presumably started with zero C14. So it's been building up ever since, exponentially. "Exponentially" means that it's initially being added at a much faster rate than it's being removed but the removal rate increases as it approaches equilibrium. (The more C14 that exists in the atmosphere, the more decays.) Since the radiocarbon daters think they can accurately date objects out to 70,000 years, then we have to assume it would take at least that long to go from zero to equilibrium. But if the earth is less than 10,000 years old, the atmosphere isn't in equilibrium yet and won't be for many millennia.

21st century radiocarbon dating isn't going to work on artifacts from the pre-flood era. The Earth's atmosphere was totally different at that time. There was a canopy of water around the earth (firmament) causing a greenhouse effect. That canopy would also block cosmic and solar radiation from reaching the Earth's surface, which is probably why the antidiluvians lived such long lives.

The council of Yavne, is where most like Rabbi Akiva cooked the books. When the Messianic Jews refused to join in the appointment of Bar Kobha as the proclaimed Messiah, they viewed them as traitors. At this point, they became full pledged apostates, and at this point most believe the books were changed. This is when Aquila's Greek translation came out. Justin Martyr testified that they had removed scriptures from the original, and gave examples.

I like your thinking. But whether every thing started at creation or a Big Bang it has some standards. That is everything started at once. So at creation the clock started ticking. Since uranium degraded to lead. They had to be created together as it would all be at the same stage. All uranium say or all lead or somewhere in between. With the Big Bang same thing. If the world were as old as they say it should all be lead. The same with carbon. It was all created at the same time. That’s why a local college tested a live mollusk out of Lake Erie it said it was 5,000 years old with carbon dating.
@uwekonnigsstaddt524

Bradley Weiss Correct. It is an assumption that carbon decays at the same rate. We would have to have an instrument that consistently measures carbon decay, everyday, for the last 5 years, 50, years, 500 years, 5,000 years, and more. Also, another assumption is that scientists believe that carbon doesn’t contaminate all those years.
@autonomouspublishingincorp8241

Actually there is only ONE variable that is vital to modern radio-carbon dating, and for anything up to approximately 10-15,000 BC it seems to be incredibly accurate. At that point, suddenly the numbers jump wildly into the millions and billions of years. The logical conclusion is that the decay rate of the measured carbon (the vital variable) changed in some way at about 10-15,000 BCe. This is something that A.P.I was the first to publish in 1963 but is still ignored by nearly everyone. (which made this video refreshing to hear someone else state this obvious probability.) Interestingly, that is also the point most "extinction level event" dates hover around. This includes multiple meteor impact sites, Tectonic events, and geological anomalies, which suggests that "The Flood" involved a lot more than just a bunch of water covering the Earth. Pre-flood there is a creation account that suggests a Pangea land-form. Post-flood, the world is described very much as it's seen today. Also note the introduction of the rainbow Post-flood, vs the mist watering the face of the Earth in the pre-flood account, suggesting the entire atmosphere was very different, expanding drastically in the post-flood period. **Side note; In proto-hebreic language, "40 days" often expresses a great length of time, not a specific literal 40 day time period. It's a little like saying in English; "I waited forever to hear someone else say that". Doesn't literally mean I waited for all eternity.

Precisely so, young grasshopper. 😉 Carbon-12 and carbon-14 are two isotopes of the element carbon. The difference between carbon-12 and carbon-14 is the number of neutrons in each of their atoms. ... Atoms of both isotopes of carbon contain 6 protons. Atoms of carbon-12 have 6 neutrons, while atoms of carbon-14 contain 8 neutrons. There’s a wide variance of the deposition of BOTH throughout time. And it varies in regions of our planet. The source of these depositions? Solar Flares, Coronal Mass Ejections and Cosmic Rays. It’s EXTREMELY RARE that any of these events ever affect the whole planet at the same time.

Could the radio-carbon dating 'Offset' be the result of a huge difference in the amount of C-14 being produced in ancient times as compared with today? The assumption is made in C-14 dating that the amount of atmospheric C-14 has remained relatively constant through out time, but we have to assume that. It could also be assumed that at some point in the distant past, no C-14 was being produced.

Seder ha olam rabbah, is a problem that even the Jewish Rabbi's recognize the wrong dates. It is obvious, they cut almost 1400 years out of the bible. I think accepting the dates of the SP, and the LXX, solves alot of challenges in the dating of the flood, and creation. For example, the oldest tree in the world easily matches the LXX dates. Human history and writing as well. This is one reason the Dead sea scrolls were an amazing find. They proved there were vorlages similar to the LXX, and that there is an older tradition that drew from the LXX

The pre-flood world was different to post-flood world. The bible says the water was divided to below and above the expanse. No rain fell because a mist came up from the earth. Above the expanse was a water canopy which protected mankind from bad UV rays from the sun. This created a world which was like a hot-house with large plants and more areas wherein large animals could move in water. Large animals overheat quickly and need water. The water canopy broke above the expanse during the flood and in the post-flood world the bad UV rays built up and accelerated. Human lives became increasingly shorter. The bible gives a wealth of information - if only people would investigate it! I have studied the main theme of the bible intrinsically for logic, continuity and consistency and have come to the conclusion that it is absolute reality. The true God wanted humans to understand why mankind is separated from Him and tells a consistent history/story of how he has allowed wicked human rule (independent from him and his right to choose good and bad for us) on earth. It shows how God has been working throughout history to restore mankind back into a perfect relationship with him and restore the earth back to its original condition according to His purpose. He only interferes in our affairs when His final purpose is in jeopardy..... such as the flood and changing of languages. God is just..... he gives humans a choice. When we reach the apex of technological advances, mankind will use this great earthly power to oppress and bring evil on mankind to a degree never seen on earth before. God will have proved that mankind cannot rule themselves successfully when independent from God. (Atheists take note) The true God will step into human affairs and with his kingdom-government under Christ will restore his original purpose for the earth.

He presents a KZbin video on “Were the pyramids of Egypt built before the flood?” With a little of Back to the future insertions for humor. I don’t concur with the final conclusion of the pyramids age based on fossils beneath them because I believe some fossils could have been there before the flood, but his points about ages of 30 to 130 from Shem on down is spot on. I think Dr. Tackett would do well to consider his point.

Nathan's video got me going on this 'timeline' thing recently. I had read years ago some medieval historians who said some rather large sounding numbers, variously relating events to the exodus, or the creation, 'AM', or Abraham's day. These were PDFs I managed to get for free. I was a poor man who went to the public library on a bus to get away from my schizophrenic roommate for a while. So for a few years, way in the back of my mind, I was haunted and fascinated by the vague memory of these strange long dates. Well, they seemed long to me at the time I read them. Now I am frustrated, saying to myself 'where are those things I was reading?' Volcanoes and lakes newly appearing in the days of so and so who came to this island some number of winters or years from the days of the Flood. I am now wondering. Were some of these writers using the long chronology? I think no stone should be left unturned in the working out of a real Christian view of history. We have this unsightly chasm of 'huh, I don't know' when it comes to 'secular' history. I'm talking about things like the early settlers of England, Wales, Ireland, Greenland, Nova Scotia, and their relationship with Greek, Anatolian, Baltic, and Egyptian history all of which relate to the Genesis 10 Table of Nations. The story of Hayk killing 'Bel' is interesting from the Armenian Chronicles, which, as I recall, begins 'Let us remember'. It relates potentially to Nimrod or some other Mesopotamian or Assyrian despot. We should not join the world in so broadly dismissing 'the Dark Ages'. There needs to be more research. Old 1800's scholars I read were fascinating, too. Cool characters, rather like a few we have today, like David Rohl, who, I guess like me, was a musician. I only recently 'retired' (gave up from exhaustion) from trying to work with the Evangelical Church as a church musician. Back some years ago I read a 1800's scholar... can't remember his name... he was a professor in Toronto Canada, I recall noting in the title page. Scholars at the time of his writing were trying to decipher inscriptions from Hamath. This rather cocky scholar I was reading from 'Forgotten Books' was positing a fascinating hypothesis, a potential model for aiding in deciphering work. The hypothesis went on for pages. It was the idea of a gradual restless Hittite migration eastward to the new world down through the centuries. Down the trail he found hints of names related to 'Hittite' and Hittite names and words in voluminous indigenous histories, names of places, sources mentioned in the far east, with a few guesses thrown in about what may have motivated them to move again and again. Very speculative, but erudite, and perhaps a bit showy, but fun, a kind of innocent spirit of intellectual grander, not like the bland evolutionary boring pomposity of our last century. Thinking about these things makes me wish young people today had this kind of Christian-world-view curiousity to learn from 'primary sources' in world history. I think people used to be a lot smarter and curious than we are today. And they didn't have to be 'out there' religious or pious in order to just live and explore, because boring anti-Bible-faith evolutionary thought and marxist burdensomeness had not yet crushed the spirit of the mind of the culture, nor had Emersonian ponderous 'All is God' uncreativity and cynicism yet hindered the excitement of child-like faith exploration. Were the old Calvinists so bad that everybody had to go 'Hindu'? The early Christians, somewhere I remember reading in Justin Martyr or somebody back in the Pre-Nicene days, were in the early stages of their instruction called 'inquirers'.

Which makes complete sense if the Biblical narrative is true. According to the Bible, every person on earth is descended from one of Noahs 3 sons. Geneticists are now proving this to be true. And so every civilization old enough would have an ancestral memory of this event. Just because some wrote it down before others, or there are discrepancies between the stories means nothing. The fact that these stories exist is significant.

Thank you so much for addressing the issue of the corrupted chronology of the proto Masoretic Text by anti-Christian Jews following the destruction of the Second Temple. Failure among most religious and secular scholars to acknowledge this historical fact has led to confusion of the dates of, for example, the Creation, the Flood, the Exodus, the conquest of Canaan and many other important events in the Bible. Much light can be shed on the Bible's history by simply acknowledging this.

In 333 BC, Alexander the great, captured palestine. In the third century BC, the Tanakh was comprehensively translated into Koine Greek for the first time. The Hellenistic era was at its peak and Greek was the Lingua Franca of most of the world. You'd think that this would be a milestone in Jewish history. In reality, it created somewhat of a split between Egyptian Jews on one side and Palestinian and Babylonian Jews on the other. Egyptian Jews were based in Alexandria and were, generally speaking, more hellenized and worldly compared to their Asian brethren. It seems most Egyptian Jews considered the translation a very positive development. A document called “the letter of Aristeas” describes the events leading to the translation. The Ptolemaic king Ptolemy Philadelphus is urged by the chief librarian of the Alexandrian Library to translate the Hebrew Bible so the wisdom of the Hebrews can be added to the wealth of wisdom accumulated in the library. The king agrees, and sends for 72 Jewish scholars to do the translating work. In the letter, Ptolemy is appraised and admired. A similar attitude seems to exist in the writings of Philo of Alexandria. In Palestinian and Babylonian sources, the attitude is diametrically opposite. The translation is considered a tragedy, so much so that its completion in the month of Tevet is listed in Ta'anit tractate as one of the reasons for the fast day on the tenth of Tevet. According to that same source, when the translation was completed “three days of darkness befell the world”. The Babylonian Talmud describes Ptolemy's real intentions as sinister: he had every one of the 72 scholars work in a different place without being able to consult one another, so as to prove that the wisdom of the Torah is not divine but human, and thus subjective and can be interpreted 72 different ways. Miraculously, all 72 scholars came up with the exact same translation. What bothered Jewish scholars about the Septuagint, or the Translation tof the Seventy, is probably that it would cause the Bible to become just another book of wisdom in the massive Hellenistic treasury of knowledge. It would lose its status as divine and sacred. That’s probably what they meant when they described Ptolemy's intention as being to secularize the Bible and prove it's human source. Furthermore, the spirit of the Bible might get lost in translation. Another possibility is that the writers of the Babylonian Talmud had the advantage of retrospect. They knew that the ambiguity of the Septuagint would ultimately be used by followers of Christianity to prove that old-testament prophecies about the Messiah were cerainly talking about Christ. They knew that this would be used to attack Judaism and accuse Jews of being blind to the fulfillment of the prophecies right before their eyes Jesus had predicted fall of Jerusalem temple. When it happened in (72AD ?) and the Jews were dispersed all over the world, the Pharisees met and came out with the plan of defeating christians. By then the original Hebrew Bible was lost and they came out with the MASORETIC TEXT in Hebrew. They decided the cut off point to be Prophet EZRA. This text had only 66 books. As you rightly mentioned Jesus was using the SEPTUAGINT BIBLE (Greek) which had 72 books. Christians were using the Septuagint Bible till 1517, when during the protestant reformation, Martin Luther favoured Masoretic text hebrew bible, as he wanted to prove that sale of indulgences was wrong. He wanted to prove that Vatican is corrupt. When In 1534, the modern day, HEROD, King Henry the VIII ,THE CHAMPION OF CATHOLIC CHURCH was denied permission to marry another woman by his Arch bishop arrested him and when he was denied permission from Pope, executed his Arch bishop and declared that he is the HEAD OF THE CHURCH ! Thus The Church of England was born. His successor , King James came out with KJV. Which has only 66 books . The 7 books were removed, because Martin luther didn't want those books because these mentioned about PRAYING FOR DEAD SOULS ! FYI- Martin luther had fell in love. A catholic priest salary is pittance. Today they get 7500 to Rs 10000 as salary per month. So probably, doubting Martin's financial integrity, his Bishop did not allow Martin to sell Indulgences for 3 consecutive years. Martin then protested and went about saying there is no purgatory and the church is corrupt ! If the church was corrupt , the church of England would have not been formed. King Henry, the VII was influential, rich and powerful, he could have easily got the permission to marry another woman. Please ponder

There is plenty of info about that here on KZbin.

Steve Shepherd Explain just one little point for me. If all the cultures you mention, (Indians, Sumerians, Egyptians, Amer-Indians and Peruvians) have historical accounts of a universal flood.....where did these people come from....in order to have stories about a flood??? If Noah had himself and seven other people on board his boat.....somewhere around 4,500 to 5,000 years ago, and every other living thing was wiped out by the flood, how did people (civilizations) like the Peruvians, get to Peru....in order to have stories to tell? How did the Egyptians keep on building pyramids after the flood if they all got wiped out by the flood? How did Sumerian clay tablets, written before the flood, exist after the flood? Wouldn’t those clay tablets turn back into mud? Wouldn’t the symbols written on the clay (mud) tablets have been smeared or wiped out by laying under water for a year? I have seen and studied those clay tablets and the stories on them. And the symbols are clear and readable. I have seen and studied the texts of ancient Egyptian written and painted on grave walls and they are still readable. Even the colours of the ink are clear and every symbol clear enough to read and understand. Why didn’t the paints get washed away by the flood?

Zahari Shtonov Sorry, but your understanding of those supposed records is sadly misinformed. You say the other stories are just by word of mouth. Who do you think wrote about the flood? Do you think Noah wrote them? Do you know the oldest books of the old testamet were written around 600 years before the birth of Christ?. That is a long, long time after Moses and even a longer time after Noah. Sorry,but the bible stories are simply ”word of mouth”.

@@MrBcuzbcuz - Hey Ric, the Pentateuch (the first five books in the Bible) was written by Moses and there is no doubt about that. All five books were dictated to him by God himself. If you do not believe in that, then you are the one who are sadly mislead by the worldly powers at hand... The Biblical record as a whole has been under attack for a long time now (close to 200 years). By "cleverly" devised stories with little to no science, modern science operates on many many assumption when meanwhile the evidence is there, visible to all. And before you go to "show me that evidence", I can tell you, it's not about the evidence, but what you do with it. Steve Shepherd is right up there stating all the facts from the Chinese letters. I've seen lectures myself, much more extensive than just one example and a few sentences. Their whole alphabet (the ancient one) is full with Biblical evidence. It is all true! Also, you are mislead on the dates when the Flood happened and modern science is in general confused about Egyptian history. They are misplacing all of the events at the wrong dates including the Flood and also the Exodus. I recommend you to watch the series from "Patterns of Evidence". You could either rent them. or some of the films are available on Tubi for free. Also look for "Is Genesis History" either here on KZbin or order the documentaries for more scientific information. According the Septuagint dating system, this year (beginning last September) is about 7528 years since Adam.
@Josdamale
@Josdamale 3 жыл бұрын
@Tim Vesper The Hebrew dating system had two types of new year. The royal secular one began on 1 Tishri approximately September, and the priestly new year began on 1 Nisan, approximately March. Since Jesus is the Messiah or Christ, which means the anointed King of Israel, his new year and ministry officially began in Tishri. Furthermore, the Christians confirmed the date of celebrating Pascha at the First Ecumenical Council in 325, and since then the Julian Calendar became the official calendar of the whole Christian Church and eventually of the Roman empire. Thus, instead of the Hebrew Babylonian Tishri, the Christians universally used September as the equivalent. Most Christians had been doing so for centuries already. The Julian Calendar combines both the cycles of the moon and sun in one mathematical system where the years are the same number of days, and differ only in leap years, every 4 years, by one day. Nevertheless, the Septuagint Bible is the Jewish Greek translation of the OT, and it agrees with the Samaritan Bible, which has an independent textual history from the Greek and Masoretic Bible, on the dates used in Genesis that give more years before the Flood than does the Masoretic text. Thus, in terms of this LXX dating system, which is considered by most scholars as probably the original dates in Genesis, this current year would be 7528 since Adam. The Romans continued to use this dating system until the fall of Constantinople in 1453, and then the Russians continued it for several centuries thereafter. It remained the Calendar of the Roman Orthodox Church until the 20th century, when some Orthodox Churches for all intents and purposes adopted the Gregorian Calendar. You will find it in everyday use today on Mt Athos in Greece, which also counts the hours of the day from sunset to sunset.

I looked for the difference and was astonished to see that there is none! No bible has ever written 130 instead of 30 years at all! That shows that this idea is modern and wrong. Furthermore it is only the birthyear that would change. The whole lifespan would not change, so that it would be max. 100 years time they would win by this hypothesis. It is just nonsense. But apart from that it is interesting that the method goes until 1400 bc. That should not make us change the data of the bible but give us a hint to see beyond the scientific arguments of these days.

Does the 650 additional years of the LXX mean the time from the creation of man till now is 650 years longer? Resulting in us living near 6700 years since creation?

We should remember that all other languages were created for that same reason "confusion" Therefore, we should ignore all other translations and stick to the Hebrew; After all, Elohim is the "Elohei of the Hebrews" and not of the Arameos nor the Greeks. (EX 3:18,Ex 5:3, Ex 7:16, Ex 9:1 and Ex 10:3) This is pretty clear and blunt.

Radiometric dating is a great tool based on sound science, but it's far from perfect. As of now, it is the best scientific way to determine the age of an object. Of course that doesn't make it right. There are a number of problems with dating objects using this method, but you have to work with the tools you have. I just wish scientists were more honest about the reliability of their claims and didn't push their beliefs as undisputed facts.

You should try contacting Hebrew scribes and ask them what the skipping of letters means. I’ll give you a clue, it’s the only book in the world that has that particular characteristic

Differing traditions regarding the ages of the Patriarchs could be the result of confusion over the measurement of time itself. We know from both written records and artifacts that the earth has not always had 24 hour days or solar years of 365.25 days. The Old Testament suggests that the solar year at the time of Noah's Flood was only 360 days. So, could the post-Flood record keepers have been using a mix of both pre and post-Flood calendars?
