I saw the bath tray project in 2016 and made it in early December 2019. Made of mahogany and walnut I gave the tray to our adult daughter for Christmas, she too is amazed at the tray's classic lines. I am continually inspired by Ishitani's design and craftsmanship. Many thanks for your willingness to share your craft. Colorado USA

As someone who works in cabinet making shops for a living, I've always found the machines he has to be quite wonderful, especially the table saw with the lower blade he uses to cut tenons. I've never seen a saw like that in the west in my professional career. I would definitely love to have one of those...the fence adjustment on the upper saw is beautiful.

Your work and your videos are my favourites. Every piece i make, i try to make it in a style like yours. For me there's nothing like the beautiful Japanese minimalist style. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very elegant...I love the precision of your workmanship and finished pieces. From one woodworker to another...please consider your hand placement on your joiner. Your hands shouldn't 'ride' on top of the wood as it's going over the blades. Keep up the good work...

Fantastic - as usual - a beautiful and perfectly executed piece. I would just like to know about the Urethane and wax finish - is this really strong enough to cope with damp/wet environments like a bathroom?

Hozo means "tenon" so it's a kind of modified table saw dedicated to cutting tenons. Not so versatile probably, but a dedicated machine.

If you're talking about his table saw, I don't know the exact brand but it's an older sliding table saw. I've seen pictures of saws that look like it. www.irsauctions.com/popups/bidders_paddle.asp?lot=67549&auction=LFAX1LHMDLSZS1IUD38AE4VE7NZBWE&id=10173

That is a very expensive planer.
@alanfalleur65507 жыл бұрын
It's called a supersurfacer. It's like a thickness planer but its mechanics don't involve a spinning cutter head, just a rigid blade. It's used in Japan instead of drum sanders, I think.
