The Ishmaelites were the people descended from Ishmael, the son of Abraham and the Egyptian Hagar. Ishmael, the ancestor of the Ishmaelites, was born when Abraham was about 86 years old. At around sixteen years of age, after the birth of Isaac, Ishmael and his mother left Abraham's house and settled in the desert of Paran.
Ishmael married an Egyptian woman, and their children gave rise to twelve tribes. These Ishmaelite tribes lived as nomads in the Arabian Peninsula. The Ishmaelites also intermingled with other peoples descended from Abraham, such as the Midianites and Edomites. Over time, the Ishmaelites became a large and powerful people, and their history was marked by conflicts. The Ishmaelite-Midianites were often in opposition to the Israelites. Due to the many mixtures that occurred among the peoples of the Ancient East, it's challenging to determine precisely what happened to the Ishmaelites, but even today, many Arabs claim to be direct descendants of Abraham through Ishmael.

The Holy Spirit taught me who the Ishmaelites are in the blessings and promises of God that they shall be fruitful multiply and be a great nation as count as as the stars at the sky standard, the sea du of the earth, and that 12 princess shall come from them, and that they shall be a great nation, and they are tied into the blessings and connection of the 12 ties of Israel through Ephraim the son of Joseph, which is part of the 12 tribes under Joseph from Mannaseh double blessing

Amen! Finding out more about the children if Abraham's son born outside of God's will but still covered by God's promise in Abraham's offspring; is awesome to dive into. Especially with the Sunday School lessons that I've been learning the purposes of God's creation, will, human nature and so much more. I had a basic understanding of the Ishmaelites, from a Christian FundamentList perspective. I determined it was the petty jealousy of women that has led to the eternal enmity that we live with today on the brink of nuclear destruction.

I already belived it was all muslims, nomadic, living throughout the middle east, characterized by being at odds with everyone, even their fellow Ishmaelites. I still dont know why God did this besides needing a opposing enemy to Israel.

The Ishmaelites were not in direct opposition to the Israelites. They were in direct opposition to God. The Israelites were and are the chosen people of God whether people like it or not. It doesn’t mean that God doesn’t love anyone else. It just means that he had and still has a specific future for Israel.
