During the 1990 ECF, one of the sports anchors in Detroit put it succinctly: Hodges was shooting like the basket was as big as Lake Michigan.

Shooting is different, todays players shoot it at higher volumes. But players of the 80/90s had been introduced to it after growing up without it and had to shoot with significantly less pacing and space. Steve Kerr, Mark Price, Reggie Miller and other older guys would’ve been nasty with the amount of pace and space players have today but they don’t have the volume to compare.

That's why you look @ the 3 point competition. It's still 25 shots, and adding all the extra moneyballs is just marketing.

Most people in the comment sectìon seem to miss Isiah's point here. He's just telling stories about players that in his own personal opinion, deserves more cred than they were given. A lot of people here are too narrowminded to just respect each others take on the topic. We will never know who's better than who since they played in different eras. Lastly, the comparison on how the game is played 3 decades ago as opposed to now is just like night and day. So please stop on being at loggerheads with one another.

Seemed like Craig just disappeared back in the day and he was still good. He's also rarely recognized by the NBA or so it seems. What happened to Craig, the dude could fill it up!

In the 80s and 90s talking about politics religion was a career killer. You see what happen to cappernik! Kareem Abdul jabber payed a heavy price for not going along to get along. The league was like Kareem is a goat 🐐 but Chris Jackson and Craig....bye.

So - so true. Hodges has gone after Jordan over his complete refusal to use the name of being the best and most well known player in all of sports at the time, to join in on the activism. But he didn't, and it led to the league showing Craig the door as a result.

Man was just sharing knowledge about a dude that doesn’t get a lot of shine and comment section turn into hot takes debates? 🙄
@alyjulmiste8943
@alyjulmiste8943 3 жыл бұрын
Craig Hodges was not allowed to shine, because he voiced his views on the mistreatment of black people quite often. Best shooter in the NBA and they got rid of him. If you get out of line in the NBA, Stern would find a way to make sure you got silenced. That's why they eventually had Iverson coming off the bench and ultimately got rid of him. Abdul-Rauf who was probably the greatest basketball ball player of all time, he was silently removed from the NBA, because he didn't stand for the national anthem. Michael Jordan didn't leave the NBA, he was kicked out for shaving points to pay off gambling debts. Magic Johnson never had Had HIV. Was caught shaving points as well.

I always felt that Craig Hodges should’ve started over John Paxton. A letter to the president shouldn’t have blackball Craig Hodges from a great career that he rightfully deserved. Hodges feel percentage was way better than Paxton’s on a bad day.

@@patrick05Morgan I said those guys shot the 3 well, in todays era with spacing Jordan would be averaging 50 and dropping dimes to those guys making more 3s a game overall as a team. This guy is giving me some grade 2 response by saying "fym", understand the game. Instead of trying to act cool online by saying the f-word like that intimidates me lol.

@@TO8 bottom line is that Duncan Robinson is without a doubt a better shooter Trojan Craig Hodges, bj Armstrong, and Paxton. That’s what the video is about. Instead of relying on extremely biased testimonials, we should rely on the numbers and context. Duncan Robinson shoots a better percentage, on higher volume, and with more difficulty. The vast majority of 3 pt attempts from that era were fairly open because teams on average rarely shot above even 10-12 threes a game. Be realistic.
