After season 8 feeling so short and rushed, I'm actually quite happy to see Season 9 be longer and more drawn out, with Hermits taking time for their families and life. I do look forward to the post-summer comeback though, with Beef's card game, Tango's Decked Out, and whatever other shenanigans you all get up to!

I hope the Hermits can come together some more in the coming months. :) I don't need the big projects, the mega builds. The thing I enjoy watching most are gatherings of people, creating some minor build, hanging out, (hermit-)challenging each other and playing games. Scale doesn't always equal value. Also the king's quests are very cool! :)

Totally agree. I love smaller builds much better than big mega stuff. That's why I love Iskall's base, the area is huge but it's all his little projects that make it interesting and unique. The Hermit interactions are always the best! I love seeing them have fun and wish I had a group of friends that played Minecraft so that we could do this too!

I'm sure Ren will understand that you've been away. The shriekers, when placed by a player or not generated naturally, will not spawn wardens. For the experience of what it's like to be close to a Warden, go to Scar's base and walk around the top of the build furthest to the left when looking at the completed side. Do be careful since the Warden's ranged attack can do a lot of damage.

The Warden will sense you through the wall, and the ranged attack goes through solid blocks. Just thought I'd add that, before we see Iskall get inadvertently destroyed by our comments. lol

yep that warden is probably going to be in scars base all season unless someone gets the guts to actually kill it LOL mainly just break a couple blocks then shoot at it with a bow from a distance til its dead, but it will still likely kill multiple times in the process of removing enough blocks lol if scar takes on the challenge, oh boy, hes probably gonna die dozens of times lol

No wonder, everyone was pushing themselves to their limits because of stupid storylines and stuff, of course everyone burns out after months of spending 10hours daily on placing blocks just to complete a structure or something for a ,,story". Why can't hermitcraft return to the state of season 1-6, where everyone was just having fun, when there were some storylines, but not every build was based around one... Does anyone even enjoy these overscripted storylines, or It's just me who doesn't like them? If that's the case, maybe I'm too old to watch hermitcraft any longer...

@@Gelert_ to my knowledge, outside of king's quests (which are great imo, and not the focus of most hermits' episodes) the only hermits that have any sort of storyline are ren and grian. I don't keep up with xb/keralis. Everyone else is doing their own thing, with major projects like decked out 2, scar's amusement park, beef's card game, and many individual megabases going on. People have themes for sure, but not really what I'd call a storyline. If you think people doing quests are scripted at all you *really* need a better grasp of what's scripted and what's not. Or watch non-Grian people. Grian is... yeah idk that was weird idk how you came to the conclusion that people are pushing themselves too hard because of king's quests, because people are clearly doing quests WHEN they're tired and want something fun

​ @Fort Snorlax I don't know anything about the king storyline, since I haven't been watching this season that much, I fell out of the flow after the coronation. I was talking about the events earlier this season and the last 2 seasons. For example the diamond tower race. I can't name a single hermit who didn't mention that they were mining for hours just to keep up with the others in the race. Or last season's ending. I'm not talking about the moon stuff, just the fact that everyone was rushing to finish their bases, before the season ended. Or the base swapping in season 7. All of it is probably because the audience (mainly little kids) who grew up watching stupid shit on youtube instead of cartoons or something like that, are no longer interested in just building farms, minigames and stuff like that. The scripted and chaotic storyline-based nature got the Dream SMP most of its followers, too. And since this is what gets views, this is what the hermits will do, (at least some of them). And as iskall mentioned in the video, he was able to record vault hunters, but not hermitcraft, because it requres much more time, in his vault hunters world he can sit down, and record an episode in a few hours, while if he wanted to make a hermitcraft episode, he would have needed to pre-plan what he was going to do, make it real by building it, etc. etc. If you compare this attitude to a season 5-6 episode's structure, you see that it had the same/similar structure to the today's vault hunter episode's. No hours of planning and days of making it real, just chilling and going with the flow. That's what hermitcraft used to be about.

"Lemme explain... no is too much, let me sum up." *clears throat: Various Hermits are making amazing progress on their main/mega bases. Cub finished "Total Chaos" it was a huge hit by all the hermits that played it. Tango has broken ground on Decked Out 2, and (as of his last stream) is 90% done with the layout of level 1, a scoreboard was designed. Tango also has found a unique use for goat horns, and music discs with many pranks on unsuspecting hermits ensuing. RenTheKIng has built a "Champion's Hall" of sorts called "Champion's Arch" (or something) where hermits can place their own heads to make progress with all the quests they have done. Mumbo is still only conspicuous by his absense. (He is missed.) (as is TFC) Grian is steadfastly NOT starting a resistance to King Ren, called (oddly enough) NAR or Not A Resistance I cannot watch a Stress video without then going back and watching "The Little Jumps" (that little song you and her did. :D ) Beef has made great strides with his Trading Card Game, and i believe he is even in the testing phase. or maybe just tested it the one time, not really sure. Zedaph has come up with and completed a handful of Zedvancements. These are the highlights that stood out enough for me to remember over the last 2 months, I know it is woefully inadequate, but hopefully it can give you a few bullet points to start from. Glad to see you are back. :D

Scar's work on his theme park is well underway, and he's done with the exterior of the main strip. Xisuma created the Allay breeding sanctuary and is working a bit on just admin things. Bdubs has finished Ren's castle. Etho moved out of Bdubs' basement after having a bizarre dream.

I feel like apart from Rendog's server quests, there's not much happening at the moment. Everyone seems to focus mostly on their own base progress. You should definitely check out the server quests tho! And i would love to see some more interactions between hermits, so maybe just do a server tour and let the hermits show you around their bases to help you get back into it?

Some server occurrences I can remember over the last couple months have included the launch of Cub's new group minigame, Total Chaos, Beef's card game having been beta-tested, Tango beginning Decked Out 2, the arrival of a serverwide contest to see who can collect the most quest crystals, and Ren's reign has still been going strong! He even has a castle now that was build by Bdubs! I think the other royal court members are still being currently selected, so you probably aren't too late with the message you recieved from Ren!

Cub finished his Total Chaos mini game, Tango is working on building the interior for Decked Out 2, Bdubs has some new shops and has built a new castle for King Ren. There are Server Quests where you can get some diamonds, and the more quests you complete the more you can gain points for the Arch of Champions that Ren built located close to his castle. Server Quests are really fun and I think you'd like them.

Things going on now on Hermitcraft: there is the new shopping district, Cub finished a game called Total Chaos, various hermits are building on their mega base builds, King Ren has hermits doing tasks through quests to help the world's infrastructure while keeping the diamonds circulating, Bdubs is using blocks to even greater mastery, some hermits are on vacation, many hermits doing some recovery from the last two years. Everyone that enjoyed TinFoilChef's channels is grieving with the hermits. I could write a book on what hermits do in two months. You all do a whole lot, and millions of people appreciate the shared hermit experience. Thank you iskall for sharing your news with all of us fans.

Most of the others are taking a break or burned out and putting out vids every few weeks. Server quests and base builds are it right now. Hopefully things will pick up again sometime.

I'm glad you were able to take a break and enjoy it!! -King Ren is still in control and has officially opened Hermit Quests. After completing any quests ( daily, weekly, one-offs) you collect a shard. With the shard you can take it to the Arch of Champions where shards are turn to points and Ren will then add more diamonds to your pillar. -Others also sent royal audition tapes to King Ren such as Cleo and Joe. I believe Cleo is administration and Joe as Royal Letterer - Outside of the King related news •Cub has finished Total Chaos which can be best described as PvP during an apocalypse •Tango has begun building Decked Out 2

Definitely excited to see you come back! Plus you weren't the only one to take a summer break, so no worries there (Stress, Doc, Keralis, Grian, and probably some others!). The biggest things happening seem to be centered around the Kings Quests, some more shops in the shopping district, and random mega bases etc. Tango has been working on Decked Out 2, and Beef is working on his card game, and Cub got his Total Chaos game done. Lots of pranks around 1.19 Warden stuff. Looking forward to seeing how you enjoy interacting with the shenanigans. :)

After watching quite a few Hermit's Video's I can really see that after being stuck inside for almost 2 years everyone wants to go outside, go on trips, spend time with there families, and just genuinely enjoy life. I completely support this and I want the hermits to be happy!

I completely agree, however I was panicking a little that hermitcaft was goning to start dying... Mumbo stopped playing as much, iskall stopped playing as much, grian took a big break, bdubs uploaded less frequent due to other video uploads, (I think) etho took a break, scar posted less (obviously for health reasons but just saying), tfc passed away (r.i.p) and I think a few others have relaxed a bit with the video uploads Started to look like HC wasn't gonna be the same again, I really hope everyone enjoys their well earned breaks but then bounce back with more enthusiasm and content. I kinda feel like geminitay and pearlescentmoon still haven't really got the full atmosphere of HC.... They missed out on all the crazy stuff from HC6 and HC7 only To join on a short HC8 season and now HC9 that doesn't seem to be as player involved as usual.

The hermits have spent the two years of the pandemic just as isolated as the rest of us, but as entertainers they've "had" to keep working. Hermitcraft has been a staple of my pandemic, and I doubt I'm alone. I'm not at all surprised many hermits have felt burnt out by the pressure and chose to spend time off the server for a while.

here's what i know from keeping up with some of the hermits' episodes: late during the "starter area" time of the season, a bunch of hermits engaged in a diamond pillar race to build height (scar was the one who accidentally started it). since spawn town was a mess with diamonds everywhere, bdubs crowned ren as king and asked him to fix the server economy. everyone had to hand in their diamonds to the king, and people are now getting them back by doing server quests (chores that help the server run smoother). since server quests are now an easier way to get diamonds than by mining, a lot of hermits are doing them and competing with how many quests they can complete. Participation isn't mandatory though, and members like grian "not a resistance" and doc "my diamonds are building blocks now" haven't been participating / abiding by the rules.

You announced your vacation in one of your VH episodes, so even the VH episodes were an extra treat! Everybody deserves a regular holiday, and for a profession that people tend to recognize as "do whatever you want, whenever you want" content creators are actually bound to regular videos and staying relevant to the search engine a lot, and that comes with a lot of work and burn out. Gotta live a life outside of KZbin, too!

Server stuff: - Bdubs has made some mini games, hidden far out where you have to find them to play them (hints available for purchase is the plan). He also made a bdubs head collection "game"? You can sell his heads back to him I think. - Xisuma may have been working on a contraption to remove player heads (which you need to accept RentheKings quests) - VintageBeef is still working on his card game and alpha testing has begun

Many hermits took a break while you were taking one, like Mumbo, 2. Grian took a little break, but now he's back, and resisting the urge to make a resistance against king Rendog 3. BTW Ren is king now, and seized all diamonds, but you can earn them back by doing quests. 4. Most hermits are focusing on their megabases. 5. Decked out is coming back, bigger and better than before.

One of the things that is now in hermitcraft is that there are now server quests made by ren. You can get your diamonds that you threw in the hole back by doing quests

1) That prank was Pearl - she already went around and got everyone (yes, even Stress) 2) HermitQuests are available at the king rendog statue. The reward is diamonds and pride. 3) Beef's Hermit card game is getting close to finished - you probably want to contact him to roll for your card's numbers 4) Everyone played Cub's Total Chaos game, and there might be more games of it coming throughout the season. 5) 2 Mojang devs stopped by and chatted with Doc & Cub, and played Total Chaos 6) Tango's Decked out 2 is starting but it will still be a few months 7) Etho's back and he has a base below BDub's tower, though he's moving out to the jungle for his main base 8) BDubs built Rendog a giant castle on the hill 9) The dare stick has somewhat stalled with BDubs (I think) 10) Scar started building main street of his amusement park 11) Scar had Pearl organize his chest monster into an actual storage system by using her new shop 12) Lots of other new shops

Welcome back! What you've missed: Ren's quests are still going strong. There is now an arch of champions where people can claim pillars and turn in their quest crystals (earned for completing quests) to compete for the highest quest score. Cub ran his Total Chaos mini game for the first time, and EDIT: Hypno won. Grian completed a new Grumbot, that has a mini game of sorts attached to it for all Hermits to use. The shopping district is very expanded, and the nether hub is pretty much completely fleshed out, with a labeling system for the tunnels (can't remember if you were here for that) Xisuma added a mod that allows for Allay breeding, and made a breeding center for them next to Ren's quest area at spawn. People figured out how to farm Wardens, like XB. Most End Cities nearby have been raided, although impulse has the new swift sneak enchantment for sale at his book shop. That's about it I think, a lot of folks have been taking summer breaks so you didn't miss too much. Glad your vacation was so relaxing!

Welcome back Iskall! Here is some info: Nothing too important going on in the server. You can make your own plans. The shopping district is right next to the starter base area. Decked out is construction and total chaos is finished but apart from that people are having their own projects. Several hermits have announced to announce to get less pressure from hermitcraft. Like Xisuma announcing to not do a mega base but wanting to do mulitple side projects and Grian isntead of uploading once a week will upload once every 2 weeks. Everyone has been understanding of that as we understand Hermitcraft can get a lot of pressure on the Hermits. Wellsknight is btw doing exactly doing what you did, playing vault hunters and having a break from hermitcraft.

Well, Ren's set up an entire quests thing. One of his quests is how to make an audition tape because he was so inspired by your idea haha. The way the quests work is something a lot of people keep getting wrong, so even though there are instructions I will give you a basic rundown. There are different quest types on the different floors of the building. You can do daily quests daily, weekly quests weekly, Kingly and Challenge(?) quests one at a time. To accept a quest you replace the pumpkin with your own head, and take ONE of the shards, and put the pumpkin in the discard barrel. Once you've completed a quest you re-claim your head and the diamond prize. After that there's the Hall of Champions or whatever it's called, where you place your head on a diamond pillar and its associated barrel and put your shards there. It's a challenge to be the best. Lots of hermits have been going lots of quests so you'll find it's had a big impact on the shopping district. And Ren now has a more official castle built by Bdoubs. The shopping district has an official portal, the nether hub has, I think, been completed. Decked Out 2 is being worked on. iLuminate is now stocking lots of things including the new Frog Lights. X has built an allay sanctuary. The trading card game seems nearly complete. A game called "Total Chaos" has opened up described as "PVP during the apocalypse". Grian's leading a "not a resistance" towards the king. Doc's perimeter is pretty intense and has a pretty cool elevator now.

Hearing about TFC was honestly quite heartbreaking. I feel like it was kind of a long time coming - as far as I remember (been really disconnectwed with HC for a couple years now) his health wasn't doing great, and all I can really say is that I hope it wasn't painful. If nothing else, I just hope he wasn't in pain when he passed, but either way, at least...he can rest now. 💚

He had bouts of dizziness for months and vertigo, he had the weird arm thing (arm was and remained broken just above the elbow) and the leg amputated. He was in in pain for a while, but now he's not. =) now he's Mining through the basement of whichever afterlife he believed in. (with 1.18 world gen because he didn't like the new generation)

When I first heard he'd passed I'd checked out his channel again and was doubly heartbroken to see that this all happened right after he got his silver play button. He finally got some of the recognition he deserved and then...it just went downhill. As someone who's dealing with disability myself, I really hope any surviving family he has is taking it well. To be bluntly honest (and a bit vulnerable), the whole situation hits really close for me in part because of how it's reminded me that you can go your entire life doing good and making great things, and even if you do get recognition during your lifetime, it could all end literally tomorrow (or in TFC's case, a few months), and as an artist, that's always been a scary thought looming at the back of my head. I guess the whole situation made me realize I don't have as good of a grip on my own mind as I thought I did.

I would have been extra heartbroken if that had happened. He got to know that there was a whole huge community that valued the light he brought to the world. Which is a little comfort to me personally. If every one of his subscribers attended - he could fill every seat at GoodWood racetrack. There are over 7000 languages in the world and 90% of those languages are spoken by fewer people than TFC had followers. If he was in sneak mode (without swift sneak) and walked 1 block per follower - it would take 9 days. (without stopping to sleep eat or poop.) If every follower were a single block of stone - he'd fill 29 double chests

Impulse sells all kinds of lights and beacons, but it's all on the second floor that you take a semi-hidden water elevator to access, and the stock is in the barrels that make up the floor. Confusing.
