Iskall has hit level 25, which opens up a lot of content in the vault hunters modpack. Including special minecraft armour, gear and totems (idols). Iskall is very excited to get going and he runs in to a... very big vault...

My favorite part of this episode is how excited Iskall gets when he goes through all the loot he's collected. He's like a kid at Christmas. He celebrates everything with abundant enthusiasm. I am delighted just to watch him open everything - never mind how awesome it is or has the potential to be at some future point. So fun!

I've been playing this modpack myself -- but it's also my first time playing minecraft, so it's taken me a long time to beat the ender dragon and get even a single piece of netherite gear. By the time Iskall's next episode drops, I should have gotten up the courage to run my first vault!

That's an interesting first Minecraft experience, but probably a very good modpack to start with, given how it starts out mostly vanilla. Have fun!

If there’s any advice I can give you it’s this: 1) make sure you have villager trades (especially farmers and librarians with good enchantments), and a little farm you can use to get emeralds quickly. 2) This game is a grind. 100% it is a grind. The modpack only leads to that. So when (yes, when) you die in the vault, remember that it is part of the game. Iskall has been playing this pack for years so he makes this look very easy. So far I’ve only run 7 vaults and I died in 3 of them. It’s demotivating and makes you feel like you should just quit. *Don’t.* just grind for more emeralds, grind for more xp, and get your gear back. Run more vaults. Good luck, Tom. My first vault had crowded, difficult, and trapped as modifiers, took me 3 swings with a sharpness V sword to kill one zombie, of which 4 would spawn on me every so often due to crowded. I just grabbed the braziers in the portal room and cut my losses lol

First vault was a safe zone, and the very first room was one Iskall had pointed out as having lots of treasure -- it's the one where you dig through the sand/lava below (I got lucky -- it was sand) So I literally spent 20 minutes filling up all three shulker boxes I'd brought with me, and then almost died as I ran for the exit Currently in the process of improving my base -- more storage, iron farm, nether gold/xp farm, and villagers It's a good time :)

I feel like you strike a great balance with the way vaults are edited in this series where the standard ones are montages or end loot showcases, and the interesting ones are less edited down. I am so excited to see you show new viewers all the fun things the modpack has to offer, and appreciate all the explaining. As a frequent twitch viewer, I can say that even if I already know the stuff you're explaining, it doesn't feel boring at all (because I want new players to understand how cool VH is). What an introduction to level 25. This vault really was omega! It showed perfectly how modifiers and the loot tiers change everything, and also introduced us to vault gear. The end with the classic "just one more room" makes me wonder when we are going to see the first Greedskall moment in this series :D

Iskall, I would like to say a big Thank You for bringing this pack to my attention. I've been a fan of modded MC for a long time, and tried many packs, but Vault Hunters, hands down, is the best modpack I have ever played. It combines some of the things I like doing most, exploring the world to collect required items for a vault crystal, exploring the vault and progressing in gear and levels, as well as unlocking the mods slowly to help you with the progression. I will definitely be looking into joining one of the VH servers to play with others as I'm intrigued in doing a coop vault.

Each episode just gets better and better! Thank you for taking it slower this episode and explaining everything. When I was watching the streams when you first start streaming VH way back, missing even just part of a stream put me behind the learning curve and then I lost interest before season 1 ended. But with this series I am fully engaged! And relieved to hear that this isn't just an interim series between Hermitcraft 8 and 9. I am very excited for your HC9 though. I hope you do more collabs this season, planned and unplanned. Like just dropping into someone's base to ask all the hermits online at the time a random question or dropping in to move any type of important block by 1 and see if they ever notice. Idk silly stuff like that to mess with your fellow hermits is very entertaining. I also am very much looking forward to Decked Out 2: Wardens by Tango. You have all this PVE experience with VH and you know how to move really well. I think you would do amazing in the standings. Plus Etho can''t be allowed to just win everything, right?! ;) I've been thinking as I watch each episode of VH come out that even though I've been watching you since 2019 (and then went back and binged nearly every series that you did including HC 1-5 and most of your modded series, I *still* love your accent like I"m hearing it for the first time, especially when you say certain words. For example, you said pool and you say it pooooool-luh. Every time you emphasize or elongate a syllable, I tend to repeat it after you lol

Just today I hit level 25. Using your videos as a walkthourgh to get prepared. The amount of luck you had with vault rooms is insane. I tend to look for 10 rooms just to find a decent one with many quick chest, while you seem to always find the guilded ones, lol. Great modpack, thanks for creating it

Iskall, with the never ending incremental increases of the difficulty of the vaults, what happens if you die and lose all your stuff and you don't have good stuff and can't progress anymore?

You will still have all the skills and talents you had unlocked up to that point. I would suggest keeping some spare gear on hand just in case, as well as having villagers you can trade for new stuff if that happens. If you have Vein Miner, I’m guessing that will help you find vanilla ancient debris pretty easily if you haven’t already built a stash from vault runs. Strength potions can also help bridge the gap. It’s just an untested strategy on my part because I’ve only barely gotten into the vaults myself, but you definitely wouldn’t be back to square one I think.

I think it's interesting that in the early vaults there's always this need to decide whether it makes more sense to push through a vault, try to take on the boss, etc., or skim through and run for the exit. If the game were balanced such that it would always make sense to take on the boss, or structured such that you always had to take on the boss, you wouldn't need to think about those kinds of decisions, I think it would be less interesting.
